Campgrounds and RV parks near Ramsey, NJ

Ramsey sits in Bergen County in northern New Jersey, roughly 30 miles from Manhattan and within easy reach of the New Jersey Highlands and the Lower Hudson Valley. RV travelers use it as a base for a mix of urban and backcountry trips: national landmarks and city skylines to the east, and forested state parks with lakes and long trail networks to the west and north. Most campground options fall into two categories. Rustic, tent-focused camping is available at nearby preserves in the Highlands and just over the state line in New York. Camp Wyanokie in West Milford offers more than ten individual rustic campsites with fire pits and charcoal grills, but no running water, toilets, electricity, or WiFi, and two latrines on site; the site is tents only and does not accommodate RVs. Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park, adjacent to Lake Welch, offers access to swimming beaches, hiking trails, and neighboring facilities, but has no electrical hookups for trailers. Full-hookup RV parks are the other option. Black Bear Campground in Florida, New York, offers paved roads, full hookups, and pull-through sites. Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City sits on a marina directly across the water from Manhattan, essentially a paved lot with water and electric hookups.

State-park sites use official reservation systems. Online reservations for Wawayanda State Park are made through the New Jersey State Park Service reservation portal at camping.nj.gov, which also covers other state parks and forests. For Harriman's Beaver Pond, camping reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival for campsites; walk-ins are permitted on campsites only. Camp Wyanokie handles all campsite availability and reservations through its partner, Campspot. Private RV parks such as Black Bear and Liberty Harbor take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. For any summer weekend, book as early as the reservation window opens; cancellations do free up sites, but not reliably close to arrival.
