Campgrounds and RV parks near Raritan, NJ

Raritan sits in Somerset County in central New Jersey, within easy reach of the Highlands region and the reservoirs that anchor most of the area's public camping. RV renters typically head north and west into Hunterdon and Warren counties, where state parks operated by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry cluster along the Round Valley and Spruce Run reservoirs. The closest options include Voorhees State Park in High Bridge and Spruce Run State Recreational Area in Clinton, both roughly 20 to 25 miles from town. Private options such as Goodland Country Club and Spa and Fla-Net Park add cabin and tent-oriented alternatives, while Stephens State Park extends the search north into the Musconetcong River valley near Hackettstown. Most state park campgrounds in this part of New Jersey are basic. Sites accept trailers and smaller motorhomes, but hookups are limited. Spruce Run has seven trailer-only sites with water and 30/50 amp electric, while Voorhees and Stephens are dry camping with a sanitary dump station on site.

New Jersey state parks use a single reservation system at camping.nj.gov, operated by the Division of Parks and Forestry. Voorhees State Park, Spruce Run State Recreational Area, and Stephens State Park are all booked through that portal, and questions for Voorhees are handled by the Spruce Run park office. Occupancy is capped at six people per standard site unless all are members of one family. Pets and alcoholic beverages are prohibited at Voorhees, and pets are not permitted in the Spruce Run campgrounds, so travelers with dogs should confirm rules before booking each specific site. Private options such as Fla-Net Park and Goodland Country Club and Spa are booked directly with the operator. Summer weekends fill first, so lock in dates as early as the system allows.
