Campgrounds near Andover, New York
Andover sits in southern Allegany County in New York's Southern Tier, a rural stretch of rolling hardwood hills, trout streams, and small farming villages. RV travelers use it as a quiet base for exploring the upper Genesee River valley, Alfred, Wellsville, and the western edge of the Finger Lakes region.
Campgrounds within a short drive lean private and family-run rather than state-park scale. Deer Run Campground in Andover offers partial hookup RV camping in a wooded setting, with cabins, a stocked fishing pond, and a beach area for kids. A short drive south, Trout Run Camp Resort sits on a 100-acre property in Wellsville with 160 full hook-up RV sites offering 30/50 amp electric, water, sewer, and free WiFi, plus log cabins. Riverside Park Campground is located on the west side of Route 19 about 2 miles north of Wellsville and 1.5 miles south of Scio, along the Genesee River.
Further out, Evergreen Trails Campgrounds in Angelica sits on 211 wooded acres in Allegany County, with 28 rustic cabins and a mix of open and wooded RV and tent sites. Sun Valley Campsites rounds out the local options with campsites and cabins for families and pets.
Things to do near Andover
The upper Genesee River is the region's headline attraction. It runs through Wellsville and Scio and supports stocked trout fishing, tubing, and kayaking. Guests at Trout Run Camp Resort can access 1,200 feet of frontage along the Genesee River for tubing, kayaking, and guided fishing trips. Riverside Park Campground sits directly on the river, with fishing holes that shift from open field stretches to tree-shaded sand bars.
Off the water, families ride at Tall Pines ATV Park just outside Andover, browse antique shops in the historic village of Angelica, and visit Alfred's ceramics museums and college-town cafes. Evergreen Trails Campgrounds offers hiking trails and fishing in two ponds, and Letchworth State Park, known for its river gorge and waterfalls, is within reasonable day-trip range to the north.

The Andover camping season is short and weather-driven. Most private campgrounds in Allegany County open in mid to late April and close in mid October, tracking the fishing calendar. Riverside Park Campground opens each season with the start of the annual Greater Wellsville Trout Derby in April and closes early to mid October, which is a useful benchmark for the area.
Late spring brings cool nights, high water, and the busiest trout fishing. Summer is the peak family season with warm days, thunderstorms, and full activity schedules at the larger resorts. Trout Run's heated saltwater pool runs from mid April to the end of October, a reasonable proxy for the local warm-weather window. Holiday weekends around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day fill first, and many private parks impose multi-night minimums on those dates.
Early fall delivers cool mornings, quiet campgrounds, and hardwood color through late September and October. Winter camping options are limited around Andover, though nearby state lands support snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
How to book a campsite near Andover
Private campgrounds around Andover are booked directly with each park, not through a central state system. Deer Run Campground, Trout Run Camp Resort, Riverside Park Campground, Evergreen Trails Campgrounds, and Sun Valley Campsites all take reservations by phone or through their own websites, and several also list availability on Campspot or Hipcamp.
Book early for summer weekends, especially July and August, and expect deposits and multi-night minimums on holidays. Evergreen Trails offers a full refund for cancellations 14 or more days before arrival, a partial refund 7 to 13 days out, and no refund inside 7 days. Cabins typically require longer notice than RV sites.
For state-park camping in the wider region, New York State Parks uses ReserveAmerica, with a nine-month rolling booking window. Call each campground directly to confirm rig length limits, hookup type, and pet rules before arriving.
What to expect at Andover-area campgrounds
Expect small, rural campgrounds rather than resort-scale destinations. Roads in and out of the parks are two-lane and often hilly, and cell service can be patchy in the valleys. Sites at the larger parks are generally roomy, with Trout Run advertising average site sizes around 50 by 100 feet.
Hookup levels vary by park. Trout Run offers 160 full hook-up sites with 30/50 amp electric, water, sewer, and free WiFi, while Deer Run provides partial hookup RV camping in a wooded setting with a separate dump station. Riverside Park has electric, water, and sewer sites along the river.
Amenities skew family-oriented: stocked ponds, pools, playgrounds, camp stores, and river access. Bring bug spray for summer, layers for cool nights even in July, and firewood purchased locally to comply with New York's rules on moving untreated wood.

weather.gov/buf/I've never driven an RV before. Is that okay?
You're in great company: most RVezy guests are first-timers, and Andover is a forgiving place to learn. The roads around town are rural, low-traffic, and mostly flat to gently rolling, ideal for getting comfortable behind a bigger vehicle. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if I break down or have trouble on the road?
You're never on your own. Every RV rental in Andover includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Route 417, a dead battery at Allegany State Park, or a tow out of a tight forest road is one phone call away. RVezy also has a dedicated trip support team available around the clock, and your host is usually reachable for quick questions about the rig itself. The closest full-service repair shops are in Wellsville (about 10 minutes north) and Hornell (about 25 minutes northeast).
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Andover RV rental into Canada or other states?
Yes, multi-state and cross-border trips are popular from Andover, and many RVezy hosts allow them. Travel anywhere in the continental U.S. is generally permitted, and Canada is often allowed with advance host approval and the right paperwork (passport, a vehicle authorization letter from the host, and proof of coverage). Niagara Falls and the Canadian border are only about two hours away, making an RV road trip from Andover into Ontario very doable. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage doesn't extend there. Message the host before booking to confirm your route, and they'll provide a cross-border letter if needed.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on my Andover RV trip?
Fuel is easier to budget than most people expect. Travel trailers don't burn extra gas beyond what your tow vehicle uses, while Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon and Class A coaches around 6 to 10 MPG. Stations in Wellsville, Hornell, and Olean usually offer the most competitive prices in the Southern Tier. For a typical 300-mile weekend loop from Andover through Letchworth State Park and back, plan on roughly $90 to $150 in fuel for a Class C. Filling up just over the Pennsylvania line (about 20 minutes south) can sometimes save a few cents per gallon on longer trips.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Andover?
For private campgrounds in the Andover area, two to four weeks ahead is usually plenty, except for holiday weekends. For New York State Parks like Allegany, Letchworth, Stony Brook, and Watkins Glen, the reservation window opens nine months out through the NYS Parks reservation system, and the best lakeside and full-hookup sites for July, August, and fall-foliage weekends often fill within days of opening. Set a calendar reminder for exactly nine months before your target date and book at 9 a.m. Eastern when the window flips. If you miss out, midweek availability is almost always open.

I-86 (the Southern Tier Expressway) runs just north and gives you easy big-rig access east toward the Finger Lakes and west to Allegany State Park. Watch for some steeper grades on county roads heading into the hills, occasional deer at dawn and dusk, and winter snow from December through March. There are no low-clearance bridges or city traffic to stress about. Use 511NY to check real-time road conditions before you roll out.
511ny.org/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Andover?
You'll be well taken care of. Most private parks near Andover offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer hookups, hot showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi at many sites. Allegany State Park's Cain Hollow and Red House campgrounds provide electric and water hookups on many sites, dump stations, flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water fill stations, though full sewer hookups are limited so plan a dump-station stop on your way out. The security deposit is a pre-authorization hold, not a charge, and is released after your trip as long as the RV comes back in the same condition it left in. Yes, winter RV rentals in Andover are absolutely possible and can be magical. Several RVezy hosts in the Southern Tier offer winterized rigs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, propane furnaces, and shore-power hookups built for cold weather. That opens the door to snow adventures: Allegany State Park keeps winterized cabins and groomed snowmobile trails open all winter, and the Art Roscoe Ski Touring Area is one of the Northeast's top cross-country ski destinations. Use the Andover RV rental filters to find a four-season rig, plan to stay at a park with electric hookups so you can run the heat all night, and pack extra propane.
