Campgrounds and RV parks near Greenwood Lake, NY

Greenwood Lake straddles the New York and New Jersey border in the Highlands region, roughly 50 miles from midtown Manhattan and surrounded by protected public land. RV renters use the village as a base for the lake itself and for a cluster of large parks within a 30-minute drive, including Harriman State Park to the east, Sterling Forest to the south, and Wawayanda State Park across the New Jersey line. Campground options range from full-hookup private RV parks to primitive state-park sites. Black Bear RV Park in Florida, NY offers full hook-up sites with 50-amp service and back-in and pull-thru sites, while Beaver Pond offers campsites, some with a raised platform, for up to two tents and six persons per site; select sites can accommodate a trailer or RV up to 30 ft. long. Wawayanda State Park, Camp Wyanokie, and Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm round out the nearby choices, giving renters a mix of state-park rustic sites and resort-style parks with pools and planned activities. Orange County's location means the region draws heavy weekend traffic from the New York metro area, so weekday stays are noticeably quieter than Fridays and Saturdays.

New York state-park sites at Beaver Pond are booked through Reserve America. Camping reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance, with sites becoming available at the 9-month window at 8AM Monday through Friday and 9AM Saturday and Sunday from March 15 through Labor Day. From mid-May to early October, same-day reservations are permitted only until 3pm, and no walk-ins are allowed. Wawayanda State Park uses the New Jersey system: online reservations can be made at camping.nj.gov. Private parks including Black Bear RV Park and Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm take bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends and holidays, book two to three months out at private parks and lock in state-park sites the moment the nine-month window opens.
