Campgrounds and RV parks near Laurel, NY

Laurel sits on the North Fork of Long Island in the Town of Southold, between Peconic Bay to the south and Long Island Sound to the north. The hamlet is surrounded by farmland, vineyards, and small bay beaches, placing RV travelers within a short drive of both Sound-side state parks and Peconic Bay wineries. Most camping options in the area fall into two categories: New York State Parks operated through the ReserveAmerica system, and privately run RV parks with hookups. Wildwood State Park in Wading River is the closest state campground, while Eastern Long Island Kampground in Greenport is the nearest private option with full RV services. Travelers willing to cross Long Island Sound by ferry can also reach Hammonasset Beach State Park and Riverdale Farm CampSites on the Connecticut shoreline. The area is road-accessible via the Long Island Expressway to Route 25 or Route 58, making Laurel a practical base for day trips to beaches, farm stands, and the ferry terminals at Orient Point and Greenport.

New York State Parks including Wildwood use the ReserveAmerica system. Sites can be booked online or by calling 1-800-456-2267, and reservations open up to nine months in advance. Same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival for campsites. Connecticut state parks such as Hammonasset Beach State Park also use ReserveAmerica, with reservations available up to eleven months ahead. The maximum stay at Hammonasset is 21 consecutive days, after which the party must leave the park for five days before returning. Private campgrounds including Eastern Long Island Kampground, Riverdale Farm CampSites, and Totoket Valley RV Park take bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends, book several months out.
