Campgrounds and RV parks near Belmont, PA

Belmont sits in the Laurel Highlands of western Pennsylvania, within easy reach of reservoir camping, state park land, and privately run RV parks. The terrain is rolling and forested, with elevations climbing sharply to the south and east toward the Allegheny Front. Most campgrounds in the area cluster around Somerset, Bedford, and Cambria counties, so drive times from Belmont typically run under an hour. Options range from electric-hookup family parks to rustic state-park sites. Quemahoning Family Recreational Area sits on the 900-acre Quemahoning Reservoir outside Hollsopple in Somerset County, drawing campers who prioritize water access. Boyers Pond Campground, Mirror Lake RV Camping and Fishing, and Rainbow Woods Campground round out the private-park options, each geared to families with pond or lake fishing on-site. For a more rugged trip, Blue Knob State Park sits on Blue Knob, the second highest mountain in Pennsylvania at 3,146 feet, with cooler summer temperatures and access to a large tract of public forest.

Pennsylvania state park sites, including those at Blue Knob State Park, are booked through the state's official reservation system operated by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Most campsites in Pennsylvania state parks can be reserved 11 months in advance to noon of the day of arrival, and popular summer weekends are typically claimed quickly after the window opens. Private parks handle their own booking. Quemahoning Family Recreational Area accepts reservations directly through its office and website, and the smaller family parks in the area, Boyers Pond Campground, Mirror Lake RV Camping and Fishing, and Rainbow Woods Campground, generally take phone or online reservations with a deposit at the time of booking. For RV renters, confirm site length, hookup amperage, and whether the park allows delivered rental units before finalizing a reservation.
