Campgrounds near Marienville
Marienville sits inside the Allegheny National Forest in Forest County, Pennsylvania, and functions as the base town for the forest's Marienville Ranger District, which covers the southern half of the ANF. The area is surrounded by public land: national forest tracts, Clear Creek State Forest, and Clear Creek State Park to the south along the Clarion River. RV travelers use Marienville as a hub for forest camping, ATV riding, paddling, and fishing.
Private RV parks near town include Forest Ridge Campground, Deer Meadow Campground, Whites Haven Campground and Cabins, and Campers Paradise Campground and Cabins. These offer hookups, cabins, and easier access to services than the more rustic public sites. About 20 miles south, Clear Creek State Park runs a state-managed campground on the Clarion River with 52 sites, 41 of them with electric hookups, plus rustic cabins and yurts.
Cook Forest State Park sits roughly 11 miles from Clear Creek, putting several major recreation areas within a short drive of any Marienville base camp.
Things to do near Marienville
The dominant draw is the 76-mile interconnected ATV and OHM trail system in the Allegheny National Forest, which includes the Marienville, Timberline, Penoke, Rocky Gap, and Willow Creek trails. Riders need an ANF ATV/Trail permit, and the main Marienville trailhead sits along Route 66. The Timberline trail is rated easiest and best suited to beginners, while Rocky Gap's south loop is rated difficult and the Penoke Bike Trail is recommended for bikes only.
Non-motorized options are just as strong. The Clarion River offers flatwater paddling and smallmouth bass fishing, and Clear Creek State Park provides river access, a nine-hole disc golf course, a swimming beach, and two canoe/kayak campsites. Families also use the region for elk viewing at Benezette, about an hour east, and for the Buzzard Swamp wildlife area near town.

The prime RV window runs late May through September. ANF ATV trails open the Friday before Memorial Day and close the last Sunday in September, and this stretch also lines up with warm weather, open state park campgrounds, and river paddling conditions. July highs sit near 81°F with cool nights, making it comfortable camping weather. Book Clear Creek State Park sites early; the Pennsylvania reservation system opens 11 months ahead and popular summer weekends fill quickly.
Fall brings cooler days, foliage from late September into mid-October, and the Tour de Forest ATV ride hosted by the Marienville Volunteer Fire Department under a Forest Service special use permit. The Marienville and Timberline trails also typically reopen for Columbus Day weekend. Hunting seasons draw campers in October and November, so weekday stays are quieter.
Winter is cold and snowy on the Allegheny Plateau, with January highs near 32°F and roughly 67 inches of annual snowfall. ATV/OHM trails may reopen for winter use from the day after the regular or extended deer season through April 1, conditions permitting. Most private RV parks scale back services in winter.
How to book
Clear Creek State Park and Clear Creek State Forest sites are reserved through the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests Reservation website or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance, and state forest motorized roadside campsites have no hookups, so plan for self-contained RV use.
Allegheny National Forest developed campgrounds are booked through Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777. Private options near town, including Forest Ridge Campground, Deer Meadow Campground, Whites Haven Campground and Cabins, and Campers Paradise Campground and Cabins, take reservations directly through each campground.
ATV riders should also secure an ANF ATV/Trail permit before hitting the trail system; permits are sold at the Marienville Ranger Station on Smokey Lane, at other ANF district offices, from local vendors, and online.
What to expect on the ground
Marienville is a small forest town. Expect limited big-box retail; stock groceries, propane, and prescriptions before arrival or plan a run to Brookville or Kane. Cell coverage is inconsistent inside the national forest, and many campsites sit under dense hardwood canopy that limits satellite and rooftop solar performance.
Pennsylvania state park and state forest sites are alcohol-free by regulation, quiet hours run 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., and pets are only permitted at designated sites for a fee. State forest roadside campsites accommodate small RVs and trailers, but access is via dirt and gravel forest roads, so oversized rigs should stick to private parks or the Clear Creek State Park campground.
ATV noise carries on summer weekends near trailheads. Campers seeking quiet often pick sites deeper in Clear Creek State Park or along the Clarion River corridor.

Pennsylvania does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use RVs, even larger Class A motorhomes. You'll just need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the booking platform, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Grab an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto association before your trip and bring it along with your home license. Most first-timers are surprised how straightforward the process is, you confirm your details online, meet your host, and you're ready to roll into the Allegheny National Forest.

Yes, RV delivery in Marienville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. That means you skip the stress of towing a trailer down PA-66 or backing a Class C into a wooded site. Delivery fees typically run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location. Pro tip: if you're flying into Pittsburgh or Erie, book a delivered rig waiting at your campground, you can Uber or shuttle in and start your trip without ever driving the RV yourself.

Pennsylvania gas prices generally run a bit above the national average.
