Campgrounds and RV parks near Robinson, PA

Robinson is a small community in West Wheatfield Township, Indiana County, sitting along Pennsylvania Route 259 near the Westmoreland County line and the borough of Bolivar. The community lies along the Conemaugh River in the western foothills of the Laurel Highlands, roughly a half-hour east of the Pittsburgh metro area and within reach of both the Pennsylvania Turnpike and US 22. RV travelers use Robinson as a launch point for a cluster of lakes, state parks and reservoir campgrounds spread across Indiana, Westmoreland and Somerset counties. The closest full-service option is Mirror Lake RV Camping and Fishing, with Lakeside at Keystone State Park a short drive west into Derry Township, Westmoreland County, on the shore of the 78-acre Keystone Lake. Heading south into the Laurel Highlands opens up Quemahoning Family Recreational Area on the Quemahoning Reservoir, plus Wheel-in Campground and Kooser State Park, the latter perched at an altitude of 2,600 feet in Somerset County. The mix of private parks, county-run recreation areas and Pennsylvania DCNR state parks gives visitors a range of hookups, cabin backups and shoulder-season options within about an hour of Robinson.

Pennsylvania state parks, including Lakeside at Keystone State Park and Kooser State Park, are booked through the DCNR reservation system, either online or by calling toll-free 888-PA-PARKS. Most campsites can be reserved 11 months in advance to noon of the day of arrival, and at Keystone some site types must be reserved 3 days ahead of arrival. Site type matters: Kooser has 35 sites, most pull-through, with 28 electric hookups and seven non-electric sites, while Keystone splits into a lakeside loop and a pet-friendly Hillside loop. Quemahoning Family Recreational Area and privately run parks such as Mirror Lake RV Camping and Fishing and Wheel-in Campground book directly through their own websites or offices. For summer weekends and holidays, reserving several months out is advised.
