Campgrounds and RV parks near Shinglehouse, PA

Shinglehouse sits in the Oswayo Valley of Potter County in north-central Pennsylvania, near the New York border and within reach of both the Allegheny National Forest and the Susquehannock State Forest. The area suits RV travelers looking for river frontage, wooded sites, and access to two large public-land systems without the crowds of better-known parks farther south. Riverhurst Park Campground and Riverside Park Campground sit closest to town, with sites oriented toward the Oswayo Creek and Allegheny River corridor. Allegheny River Campground offers a similar river-access setup, while Lake Lane Campground and Misty Mountains Park pull travelers a little farther out for lake and ridge settings. The Allegheny National Forest covers roughly 514,000 acres in the northwestern corner of Pennsylvania, about an hour west of Shinglehouse, and adds federal campgrounds around the Allegheny Reservoir to the trip-planning mix. Susquehannock State Forest, which surrounds Cherry Springs State Park, offers remote camping under some of the darkest skies on the East Coast.
