Campgrounds and RV parks near Weedville, PA

Weedville sits along Route 555 in Elk County, on the Bennett Branch of Sinnemahoning Creek, in the heart of Pennsylvania's Elk Country. The area is best known for its free-roaming elk herd, which numbers well over 1,000 animals and draws visitors to the Elk Country Visitor Center on Winslow Hill in nearby Benezette. The village sits at roughly 1,800 feet on the Allegheny Plateau, surrounded by state game lands, Moshannon State Forest, and Elk State Forest. Campground options near Weedville range from private RV parks to state park facilities. Elk Crossing 555 Campground and Riverview Campsites are on Route 555 within a short drive of Weedville, both positioned for elk viewing. Simon B. Elliott State Park sits south in Moshannon State Forest, and DuBois / Treasure Lake KOA Holiday is roughly a half-hour drive west near Interstate 80. Lauder Family Campground in Frenchville is a smaller family-run option further south. Cell service is limited across the region, and roads through the forest are narrow and winding, so plan RV routes carefully.

Pennsylvania state park sites, including Simon B. Elliott State Park, are booked through the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests reservation website or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance, released at noon Eastern, and can be held up to noon of the day of arrival. The reservation line operates Monday through Saturday. Private campgrounds handle their own reservations. DuBois / Treasure Lake KOA Holiday books through the KOA website and app. Elk Crossing 555 Campground, Riverview Campsites, and Lauder Family Campground take direct phone or website reservations, and full hook-up sites at the smaller family-run campgrounds are limited, so book early for fall weekends around the elk rut.
