Campgrounds and RV parks near Westwood, PA

Westwood is a small census-designated place in Cambria County in southwestern Pennsylvania, sitting on a hilltop above the Conemaugh River valley next to the city of Johnstown. The location puts RV travelers within a short drive of the Allegheny Plateau's reservoirs, state parks, and rural campgrounds in Cambria and Somerset counties. The closest public camping option is Quemahoning Family Recreational Area, a full-service campground and boat launch on the 900-acre Quemahoning Reservoir south of Johnstown. Additional nearby options include Mirror Lake RV Camping and Fishing, Rainbow Woods Campground, Boyers Pond Campground, and Woodland Campsites Inc, which round out a mix of lakeside, wooded, and family-oriented private grounds. RV travelers using Westwood as a base can also reach Prince Gallitzin State Park in northern Cambria County, home to 1,635-acre Glendale Lake and one of Pennsylvania's largest state park campgrounds. Terrain is hilly and forested, with elevations near 1,700 to 1,800 feet, so nights run cool even in summer and shoulder seasons demand warmer gear.

Pennsylvania state park campsites, including those at Prince Gallitzin, are reserved through the ReserveAmerica portal at pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. Depending on site type, reservations can be made up to 11 or 12 months in advance, with a minimum three-day lead time on many sites. Popular summer weekends and full-hookup loops should be booked as soon as the window opens. Quemahoning Family Recreational Area uses its own online system through Firefly Reservations, linked from quefamilyrec.com. Online bookings require at least one day of lead time, and same-day arrivals should call the office directly. Smaller private grounds such as Mirror Lake RV Camping and Fishing, Rainbow Woods Campground, Boyers Pond Campground, and Woodland Campsites Inc typically take reservations by phone or through their own websites.
