Campgrounds and RV parks near Lott, TX

The Brazos River corridor is the main draw. Falls on the Brazos Park, near Marlin, has the natural rock falls the county is named for, plus picnic areas and easy river access for kayaks and small boats. Anglers target catfish and bass along the Brazos, and public boat ramps are scattered along FM roads east of US 77. Families typically build day trips around Waco: the Waco Mammoth National Monument, Cameron Park Zoo, the Dr Pepper Museum, and Magnolia Market are all inside a 45-minute drive. Mother Neff State Park sits about 30 miles west near Moody, with shaded hiking trails, a wildflower loop, and a historic CCC-built lodge. Fort Parker State Park to the northeast adds swimming, paddling on Lake Fort Parker, and longer trails.

Spring and fall are the sweet spots. From mid-March through May, daytime highs run in the 70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit, wildflowers peak along roadsides and in state parks, and the Brazos is usually running full. May is the month with the highest precipitation, so watch forecasts for severe thunderstorms and localized flooding on low-water crossings. Fall, from late September through November, brings similar mild temperatures with lower rainfall risk and much lighter crowds. Summer is hot. June through August routinely delivers highs in the mid-90s and stretches of 100-degree days, especially in July and August. Waco averages about 24 100-degree days per year, so RVs need working A/C and shaded sites, and river levels can drop. Most parks stay open, but midday activity is limited to swimming holes and lake time. Winter is mild but variable. Daytime highs are typically in the upper 50s to low 60s, freezes happen a handful of nights each month, and occasional Arctic fronts can drop lows into the teens for a day or two. Water hookups can freeze during those events, so plan for skirting and heated hoses.

Roads into Lott are straightforward. US 77 is a well-maintained four-lane divided highway from Waco south, and the FM roads branching off toward the Brazos are paved but narrow in spots, with occasional low-water crossings that should be avoided during heavy rain. Expect small-town amenities: a couple of grocery stops in Lott and Rosebud, a fuller Walmart and big-box selection in Marlin, Temple, or Waco. Cell coverage is generally reliable on major carriers along US 77, spottier off the highway near the river. Most private parks near Lott offer 30 and 50 amp hookups, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi of varying speed. Sites tend to be level gravel or grass pads. Summer brings mosquitoes near the river, so pack repellent, and keep an eye on fire restrictions in dry months, which Falls County posts through the county judge's office.
