Campgrounds and RV parks near Bridgewater, VA

Bridgewater sits in Rockingham County in the central Shenandoah Valley, roughly ten minutes southwest of Harrisonburg and within easy reach of both Shenandoah National Park to the east and the George Washington National Forest to the west. The town works well as a base for RV travelers who want valley amenities during the day and mountain access for hiking, fishing, and Skyline Drive touring. Campground options range from full-hookup private parks to first-come, first-served national park loops. Shenandoah Valley Campground in nearby Verona sits within a horseshoe bend of Middle River and offers RV sites, cabins, river tubing, fishing, a large pool, and a kiddie pool. Stokesville Lodge and Campground, near Mount Solon, adjoins the George Washington National Forest and is a well-known mountain-biking hub with RV hookups and a swimming hole on the North River. Farther afield, the Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA Holiday offers standard KOA amenities north of town, Waynesboro North 340 Campground sits near the southern end of Skyline Drive, and Loft Mountain Campground provides dry camping inside Shenandoah National Park itself.

Reservation systems vary by campground type. Sites inside Shenandoah National Park are handled through the federal system: reservations at Loft Mountain go through 1-877-444-6777 or recreation.gov, and bookings can be made up to 6 months in advance. Mathews Arm and Loft Mountain have a mixture of reservable and first-come, first-served sites, Lewis Mountain is first-come, first-served only, and Big Meadows is by reservation only. Private campgrounds such as Shenandoah Valley Campground, Stokesville Lodge and Campground, Waynesboro North 340 Campground, and the Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA Holiday book directly through their own websites or their booking platforms, often with minimum-stay requirements on holiday weekends. Reserve summer weekends and October foliage dates well ahead.
