Campgrounds and RV parks near Loch Lomond, VA

Prince William Forest Park is the largest natural draw in the area, preserving roughly 15,000 acres of piedmont forest with hiking trails, biking loops, and a scenic park road linking the campgrounds to the visitor center. Oak Ridge Campground sits deep in the forest and works as a base for exploring those trails, while the Prince William Forest RV Campground handles rigs that need electric and water hookups. Aquia Pines Campground places travelers close to historic Fredericksburg, Quantico, and Washington, D.C., with an on-site pool, playground, dog park, and a small brewery. Greenville Farm Family Campground adds a swimming pool, fishing ponds stocked with bass and bluegill, and open pasture on a working farm. Manassas National Battlefield Park, Old Town Manassas restaurants, and the Splash Down Waterpark at Ben Lomond Regional Park round out family-friendly day options.

Northern Virginia has a four-season humid subtropical climate with warm, humid summers and cold winters that occasionally bring snow. Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV travel, with mild days, cool nights, and lower humidity than midsummer. Seasonality drives availability. Oak Ridge Campground inside Prince William Forest Park operates March through November and closes for winter, and reservations can be made up to six months in advance through Recreation.gov. Greenville Farm Family Campground runs a seasonal calendar of roughly April through October. Aquia Pines and Hillwood Camping Park operate year-round, though pool and outdoor amenities at the private parks are seasonal. Summer weekends near D.C. book up early, especially around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, and around Marine Corps events at Quantico. Winter camping is possible at the year-round private parks, but travelers should expect cold nights, occasional snow and ice, and reduced amenities.

Inside Prince William Forest Park, Oak Ridge Campground is wooded and quiet, with flush toilets and drinking water at each loop and showers only at Loop B. There are no electric or water hookups at the sites, and RVs are limited to 32 feet in length with trailers and fifth wheels capped at 26 feet. The Prince William Forest RV Campground is the option inside the park for rigs that need hookups. Hillwood Camping Park offers full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service and a long-term-resident mix on site. Greenville Farm Family Campground is a working farm with wooded and open sites, a pool, and a mix of water-and-electric and full-hookup sites, so book early if sewer is required. Aquia Pines sits about a quarter mile off I-95 Exit 143A, so highway noise carries; roads inside are narrow and wooded but drivable for big rigs, with pull-throughs and 30 and 50 amp service.
