Campgrounds near Quantico, Virginia
Quantico sits along the Potomac River in Prince William County, roughly 35 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. The town is surrounded on three sides by Marine Corps Base Quantico, with the Potomac forming its eastern boundary. For RV travelers, the main draw is the adjacent Prince William Forest Park, a roughly 15,000-acre National Park Service unit protecting a large piedmont forest and the Quantico Creek watershed.
Camping options split between federal, state, and private operators. Prince William Forest RV Campground is a concessionaire-run park inside Prince William Forest Park with hookups, while Oak Ridge Campground - Prince William Forest Park offers wooded no-hookup sites on NPS land. Aquia Pines Campground is a private option a short drive south along the I-95 corridor.
Across the Potomac in Charles County, Maryland, Smallwood State Park and Goose Bay Marina and Campground put RVers on Mattawoman Creek within easy reach of boating and fishing. The mix means visitors can pair urban day trips to D.C. with quiet forest or riverfront basecamps.
Things to do near Quantico
Prince William Forest Park anchors most itineraries with an extensive trail network, paved bike routes, and quiet streams for wading. The park protects one of the largest piedmont forest ecosystems in the region and is popular for birding, especially warblers in spring and migrating raptors in fall.
On the water, Mattawoman Creek and the Potomac River offer kayaking, powerboating, and fishing for largemouth bass, catfish, and seasonal striped bass. Boat ramps at Smallwood State Park and Goose Bay Marina and Campground provide direct access.
History and museum stops nearby include the National Museum of the Marine Corps at the base entrance in Triangle, the Smallwood Retreat historic home inside Smallwood State Park, and downtown D.C. attractions reachable by car or VRE commuter train.

The Quantico area has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Rainfall is fairly evenly distributed year-round, and biting insects near creeks and marshland are most active from June through August.
Spring and fall are the strongest windows for comfortable RVing. Wildflowers and dogwoods bloom through April and May, and October delivers reliable hardwood color across Prince William Forest Park. Oak Ridge Campground - Prince William Forest Park operates on a seasonal schedule, open March through November, so shoulder-season trips should confirm dates before booking.
Winter camping is limited but possible. Smallwood State Park's family camping loop is generally seasonal, while Prince William Forest RV Campground and some private parks along I-95 stay open year-round for travelers who can handle occasional snow and freezing overnight lows.

What to expect on the ground
Most public campgrounds in this area are wooded with mixed hardwoods, giving good shade but tighter maneuvering than open Western parks. Oak Ridge Campground - Prince William Forest Park has no electric or water hookups but provides potable water spigots and restrooms with flush toilets, with RVs limited to 32 feet and trailers to 26 feet. Prince William Forest RV Campground offers hookups and additional amenities suitable for larger rigs.

Cell coverage is reliable near I-95 and along the Potomac but weaker deep inside Prince William Forest Park. Raccoons and deer are common campground visitors, so food should be stored securely overnight.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental insurance and protection included in Quantico?
Every RVezy booking in Quantico includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Interstate 95 with confidence. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level at checkout based on the deductible and limits that work for you.
