2022 Grand River Travel Trailer
This was our first time staying in an RV and it was a great experience. We didn’t know what to expect and were total newbies that Jeffrey walked through everything and his communication was truly on point to answered all of my questions ahead of times. When we arrived, the trailer was clean and he set it up in no time. I would definitely book again with him as this was such an easy experience for our family. Who wants the fun of camping without the set up

Arthur’s RV was exactly as described! The process was flawless. Pick up was easy and the walkthrough was thorough for someone who used an RV once before almost a decade ago. The RV itself was clean, included everything you’ll need to go camping including extras. I’d definitely rent again from Arthur.

RV friendly events in Forest, ON
TransCan Grand National Championship
Feel the pulse of Canada's premier outdoor motocross championship as pros and amateurs launch off Walton Raceway's rolling hills. Mid-August brings multi-day racing, festival energy, and a countryside setting between ponds and forest where engines and crowd noise carry across Huron County. An RV turns the long race days into a relaxed base: cook breakfast at your site, nap between motos, and stay immersed in the TransCan atmosphere without hotel shuffle.
Blyth Festival
Picture rolling into Huron County with your own kitchen, bed, and porch steps from farm fields, then walking into Memorial Hall for world-class Canadian plays. The Blyth Festival turns a small village stage into a national storytelling ritual, and an RV lets you slow down, stay close, and make a theatre trip feel like a real countryside escape without sacrificing comfort.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Forest, ON
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Forest, ON?
RV rental in Forest, ON is one of the most affordable ways to enjoy Lake Huron's beach country. Motorhomes near Forest and Lambton Shores typically average around $200 to $250 CAD per night, while travel trailers run closer to $100 to $150 per night, and many hosts offer weekly discounts. You can save more by traveling in the shoulder season (mid-September to mid-June), when nightly rates often drop and Pinery Provincial Park is far less crowded. Pro tip: filter by Delivery to skip the tow vehicle entirely. A host can drop a trailer right at your Pinery or Sun Retreats Ipperwash campsite, which often makes a cheap RV rental Forest, ON trip even more affordable once you factor in fuel savings.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Forest%2C%20OntarioWhat kind of driver's licence do I need to rent an RV in Forest, ON?
Good news: a standard Ontario Class G licence is all you need to rent an RV in Forest and drive it across the province. The Ontario Ministry of Transportation allows Class G holders to operate any motorhome up to 11,000 kg, which covers virtually every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, travel trailer, and fifth wheel listed on RVezy. You must be at least 25 years old to book through RVezy, and we'll verify your ID right in the app. Visiting from outside Canada? Bring your home-country licence plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) if your licence isn't in English or French, and you're set for your Forest RV trip.
ontario.ca/page/driving-recreational-vehicle-rvIs the RV protected if something goes wrong during my trip?
Yes, every RV rental in Forest, ON booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included, so you can head to Pinery Provincial Park with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers damage to the RV during your rental, and you (the guest) choose your coverage level during checkout, picking the option that best fits your trip and budget. Pro tip: pair a higher protection tier with the host's pre-trip walkthrough for an extra layer of confidence on your first family RV trip from Forest.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat's the cancellation policy if my Forest, ON plans change?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy for every motorhome rental Forest, ON booking, which includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in a great RV before someone else does. Refunds beyond the grace period depend on how far out you are from your trip start date. You'll see the full policy details on RVezy's website before you confirm. Pro tip: book early for July and August (Pinery sells out months ahead), and use the grace period as a no-stress way to secure your dates.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV trip from Forest, ON?
Absolutely, and Forest is one of the best dog-friendly basecamps in Southwestern Ontario. Many RVezy hosts list a pet-friendly RV rental Forest, ON, just use the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Pinery Provincial Park, a short drive from Forest, has a designated pet beach area plus pet-friendly trails along the Old Ausable Channel (leashed at all times). Ipperwash Beach and the trails around Carolinian Forest Family Campground are also welcoming for four-legged campers. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees, then pack a towel and a long lead, since the Lake Huron shoreline gets sandy fast.
ontarioparks.ca/park/pineryCan the RV be delivered to my campground near Forest, ON?
Yes, RV delivery Forest, ON is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts will tow the trailer or park the motorhome directly at Pinery Provincial Park, Sun Retreats Ipperwash, or Carolinian Forest Family Campground, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every switch and valve. You just show up with your groceries and a swimsuit. Delivery fees are set by each host and depend on distance, so message a few listings to compare. Pro tip: ask the host to include a pre-stocked outdoor mat and propane top-up for a true turnkey arrival.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106634-What-are-delivery-feesHow far can I drive from Forest, ON on an RV road trip?
Forest sits in a sweet spot for a Southwestern Ontario RV road trip from Forest, with countless destinations within a half-day drive. Pinery Provincial Park is just a short drive north along Highway 21, Grand Bend's beach strip is roughly 20 km, Sarnia and the Bluewater Bridge crossing to Michigan is about 45 km south, and Bayfield's heritage village sits about 65 km up the Lake Huron coast. Want to go further? Niagara Falls is around 320 km east (about 3.5 hours) and Tobermory at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula is about 280 km north. Pro tip: each host sets their own mileage policy, so look for listings with unlimited mileage if you're planning a long Lake Huron loop.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Forest%2C%20OntarioWhere are the best campgrounds near Forest, ON?
You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Forest, ON include Pinery Provincial Park (a short drive away, with over 1,000 sites, 10 km of Lake Huron beach, and electrical sites in the Riverside, Dunes, and Burley campgrounds), Carolinian Forest Family Campground on Ipperwash Road, Sun Retreats Ipperwash (formerly Ponderosa, with full hookups and a pool), and Lakewood Christian Campground for family camping. Pro tip: Pinery sites open on the Ontario Parks reservation system exactly five months ahead, so set a calendar reminder if you want a July long weekend on the Dunes loop.
ontarioparks.ca/park/pineryWhen is the best time to visit Forest, ON in an RV?
Late May through early October is prime season for RV camping Forest, ON, with daytime highs typically from 18 to 26 degrees Celsius (65 to 79 Fahrenheit) and warm Lake Huron water by late July. July and August are the busiest and warmest months (averages near 25 C / 77 F), perfect for swimming at Ipperwash Beach but also when Pinery sites fill fastest. The shoulder seasons (late May, June, and September) deliver fewer crowds, lower nightly rates, and stunning sunsets. Winter campers can use the year-round Riverside area at Pinery. Pro tip: aim for mid-September, when leaves in the Carolinian forest start turning and you'll often have entire trails to yourself.
climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/I've never driven an RV before. Is renting in Forest, ON a good idea?
Forest is actually one of the friendliest places in Ontario to try your first time renting an RV. Roads around Lambton Shores are flat, wide, and lightly trafficked outside the summer rush, and Highway 21 to Pinery is a straight shot with no mountain passes or tight switchbacks. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering propane, awnings, slide-outs, the dump valve, and how to level the rig. You'll also have 24/7 roadside assistance and the host's phone number for the entire trip. Pro tip: pick a smaller Class C or travel trailer for your first booking, and ask the host to record a quick video tour you can rewatch at the campsite.
ontario.ca/page/driving-recreational-vehicle-rvWhat happens if I have a breakdown or flat tire near Forest, ON?
You're never on your own. Every RV rental Ontario booking through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat on Highway 21, a dead battery at the Pinery gatehouse, or a tow from Ipperwash Beach Road is one phone call away. The roadside team coordinates the service provider and dispatches help directly to your location. You can also message your host through the RVezy app for quick advice (they know their RV best), and RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside number to your phone before pickup so you're not digging through paperwork in the rain.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my RV rental across the border into the United States?
Yes, cross-border trips are possible from Forest, since the Bluewater Bridge in Sarnia (about 45 km south) is a major US/Canada crossing and a popular gateway to Port Huron, Michigan and beyond. Message the host before booking to confirm they allow US travel, as coverage needs to be confirmed for your specific dates. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. Bring your passport, vehicle paperwork from the host, and a declaration of any food or alcohol on board. Pro tip: popular cross-border routes from Forest include the Lake Michigan circle tour and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, about 5 hours from Sarnia.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Forest, ON RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, so plan ahead. Most Class C motorhomes around Forest get roughly 18 to 22 L/100 km (11 to 13 mpg), Class B campervans run 13 to 16 L/100 km, and a travel trailer towed by a half-ton truck typically uses 16 to 20 L/100 km. Gas prices in Lambton County tend to track close to the Ontario average. For a typical week loop (Forest, Pinery, Grand Bend, Bayfield, back home, roughly 250 km), budget about 50 to 70 litres of fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Forest or Grand Bend before heading north along Highway 21, as stations get sparser the closer you get to the Bruce Peninsula.
ontario.ca/page/gasoline-pricesHow far ahead should I book a campground near Forest, ON?
Book Pinery Provincial Park sites the moment they open, which is exactly five months in advance through the Ontario Parks reservation system at reservations.ontarioparks.ca. Summer weekends and holiday Mondays in July and August can sell out within minutes of release. Private parks like Carolinian Forest Family Campground and Sun Retreats Ipperwash usually accept reservations 6 to 12 months ahead and tend to be more flexible for last-minute bookings. Pro tip: if Pinery looks full, check Point Farms Provincial Park further north along Lake Huron as an excellent backup with similar beach scenery.
reservations.ontarioparks.ca/What are the driving conditions like in and around Forest, ON?
Driving conditions around Forest are about as RV-friendly as Ontario gets. Highway 21 (the Bluewater Highway) and County Road 12 are wide, flat, and well-maintained, with gentle curves through farmland and the Carolinian forest. Watch for lake-effect snow squalls between November and March (a regular winter feature off Lake Huron), and for slow-moving farm equipment in spring and fall. Pinery Road and Lakeshore Road can get busy on summer weekends with day-trippers heading to Grand Bend. Pro tip: avoid Highway 21 northbound between 3 and 6 pm on Sunday in July and August, when beach-goers head home, by leaving early or taking the inland route via Highway 81 through Thedford.
ontario.ca/page/road-and-highway-informationWhat hookups and amenities will I find at campgrounds near Forest, ON?
Local campgrounds offer a healthy mix. Pinery Provincial Park has hundreds of electrical sites (15/30 amp) but no water or sewer hookups at individual sites; instead you'll find trailer sanitation stations plus drinking water taps across the three campgrounds. Private parks like Carolinian Forest Family Campground and Sun Retreats Ipperwash offer full hookups (water, sewer, 30 amp) and pull-through sites. Most have comfort stations with flush toilets, showers, and laundry. Pro tip: top up your fresh water tank and dump grey/black before you leave Pinery, since the dump station can have lines on Sunday checkout mornings.
ontarioparks.ca/park/pinery/campingWhat's actually included inside an RV rental from Forest, ON?
Most RVs listed for Forest and Lambton Shores come fully equipped for a turnkey trip. Expect a queen or king bed, a convertible dinette, a kitchenette with a fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, an indoor bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control (furnace plus roof A/C), and seatbelted seating for traveling passengers. Larger Class C motorhomes often sleep 6 to 8 with an over-cab bunk, and many include a TV, outdoor speakers, and a generator or solar setup for off-grid nights. Cell coverage at Pinery is limited mostly to the Visitor Centre, so plan accordingly. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities list, then message the host to confirm linens, kitchen kit, and outdoor chairs are included before booking.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Forest%2C%20OntarioWhat add-ons and extras can I get with my RV rental in Forest?
Hosts in the Forest area often offer optional add-ons to make life easy. Common extras include kitchen kits, bedding and towel packages, generators, bikes, kayaks or SUPs (great for the Old Ausable Channel at Pinery), portable BBQs, firewood bundles, and outdoor chairs and tables. Many hosts also offer delivery and setup for a flat fee. Mileage policies vary by host, ranging from a daily allowance to fully unlimited, so check the listing details. Pro tip: bundling a kitchen kit, bedding, and delivery into one booking often saves money versus paying à la carte at pickup.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Forest%2C%20OntarioHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and fully handled through the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash to your host. You pay the rental total (plus any add-ons and delivery) when you book, by credit card. A refundable security deposit is held on your card a few days before pickup; the amount varies by RV and is shown on the listing before you confirm. As long as the RV is returned on time, clean, undamaged, and with the agreed fuel and tank levels, the deposit is released back to your card within a few days of trip end. Pro tip: take time-stamped photos of the interior, exterior, and odometer at both pickup and dropoff, this is the single best way to avoid any deposit disputes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksIs winter RV camping possible near Forest, ON?
Yes, and it's a hidden gem. Pinery Provincial Park keeps a Riverside area open year-round with electrical sites, a winterized comfort station, and groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails right out your door. Winters in Forest run cold (averages around -6 to -7 C / 19 to 21 F in January with lake-effect snow off Lake Huron), so look for RV listings described as four-season or with heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, and a reliable furnace. Pro tip: book a site with 30-amp service so you can run an electric space heater and save your propane for cooking and overnight backup heat.
