This was our first time staying in an RV and it was a great experience. We didn’t know what to expect and were total newbies that Jeffrey walked through everything and his communication was truly on point to answered all of my questions ahead of times. When we arrived, the trailer was clean and he set it up in no time. I would definitely book again with him as this was such an easy experience for our family. RV friendly events in Strathroy, ON
TransCan Grand National Championship
Feel the pulse of Canada's premier outdoor motocross championship as pros and amateurs launch off Walton Raceway's rolling hills. Mid-August brings multi-day racing, festival energy, and a countryside setting between ponds and forest where engines and crowd noise carry across Huron County. An RV turns the long race days into a relaxed base: cook breakfast at your site, nap between motos, and stay immersed in the TransCan atmosphere without hotel shuffle.
Blyth Festival
Picture rolling into Huron County with your own kitchen, bed, and porch steps from farm fields, then walking into Memorial Hall for world-class Canadian plays. The Blyth Festival turns a small village stage into a national storytelling ritual, and an RV lets you slow down, stay close, and make a theatre trip feel like a real countryside escape without sacrificing comfort.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Strathroy, ON?
Good news: RV rental in Strathroy is one of the more affordable ways to explore Southwestern Ontario, especially compared to renting out of Toronto. Expect roughly $150 to $250 per night for travel trailers, $200 to $300 for Class C motorhomes, and $250 to $400 for larger Class A rigs, with hosts setting their own rates. To find a cheap RV rental in Strathroy, travel mid-week, aim for late May or September, and filter by Instant Book to compare prices fast. Pro tip: a travel trailer paired with the family SUV is the budget sweet spot for a weekend at Pinery Provincial Park.
destinationontario.com/en-ca/articles/rving-ontario-for-beginnersWhat licence do I need to rent an RV in Strathroy?
Great news for Ontario drivers: your standard full Class G licence is all you need to rent an RV in Strathroy for almost any motorhome up to 11,000 kg, which covers nearly every Class B, Class C, travel trailer, and fifth wheel on RVezy. All RVezy guests just need to be 25 or older with a valid driver's licence, and identity is verified securely through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside Canada? Bring your home licence plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) if it isn't in English or French. That's it, no special RV endorsement required for the vast majority of Strathroy listings.
ontario.ca/page/driving-recreational-vehicle-rvIs insurance and roadside assistance included with my Strathroy RV rental?
Yes, and this is one of the best reasons to book an RV rental in Strathroy through RVezy. Every booking includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are covered for eligible damage to the RV and have help one phone call away if you get a flat on Highway 402 or need a battery boost at Trout Haven Park. You choose your level of protection during checkout (not the host), so you can match coverage to your comfort level. For most first-time renters, this built-in peace of mind is what makes booking easy.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat if I need to cancel my Strathroy RV trip?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy, and there is a grace period right after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. Refund eligibility after that depends on how far out your trip is, and special circumstances like severe weather or natural disasters may apply, which matters in Strathroy where a sudden Lake Huron snow squall or summer thunderstorm can change plans. You can review the full cancellation policy in the RVezy Help Center and inside your account. Tip: book early for July and August Pinery weekends to lock in your rig.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Strathroy RV rental?
Absolutely, many Strathroy hosts welcome pets. Tick the Pet-Friendly filter when searching for a pet-friendly RV rental in Strathroy and you will see motorhomes and trailers where your dog (or cat) is part of the family. Nearby, Pinery Provincial Park allows leashed dogs on designated trails and a dedicated pet beach area on Lake Huron, and Rock Glen Conservation Area near Arkona has shaded pet-friendly trails. Message the host directly from the listing to confirm any cleaning fees or pet rules. Bring a long leash, fresh water, and a towel for sandy paws.
ontarioparks.ca/park/pineryCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Strathroy?
Yes, RV delivery in Strathroy is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you are new to towing or driving a motorhome. Many local hosts will drop the RV right at your site at Trout Haven Park, Pinery Provincial Park, or Rock Glen Family Resort, level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts who offer this, then message them with your campground name and dates for an exact quote. It is a game-changer if it is your first time renting an RV.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Strathroy%2C%20OntarioHow far can I drive from Strathroy on an RV trip?
Plenty far, Strathroy sits right on Highway 402 between London and Sarnia, making it a launchpad for some of Ontario's best routes. Pinery Provincial Park on Lake Huron is just 45 minutes (50 km) north, Port Stanley on Lake Erie is about an hour (70 km) south, Bayfield is roughly 75 minutes (90 km), and Niagara Falls is around 2.5 hours (255 km) east. Some hosts even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, while others include a generous daily allowance plus a per-km rate. Confirm the mileage policy on the listing page before you book so you can plan that Strathroy RV trip with total confidence.
ontario.ca/page/ontario-road-mapWhere are the best campgrounds near Strathroy, ON?
You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Strathroy include Trout Haven Park (24749 Park St, just 2 km from town with full hookups and pull-thru sites for big rigs), Pinery Provincial Park near Grand Bend (1,000 sites along 10 km of Lake Huron beach), Rock Glen Family Resort near Arkona (a popular family resort with pools and mini golf), Ruston Family Campground in Grand Bend, and Lambton Centre Conservation Area. For RV camping in Strathroy itself, Trout Haven is the local favourite. Book early through ontarioparks.ca for Pinery, sites open five months ahead and disappear fast for summer weekends.
ontarioparks.ca/park/pinery/campingWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Strathroy?
Late May through mid-October is prime time for RV camping in Strathroy, with July and August delivering warm Lake Huron beach days (average highs around 26 to 27 C). The smart-money picks are June and September: comfortable mid-20s, fewer mosquitoes, and easier campsite availability at Pinery. Fall foliage along the Ausable River peaks in early to mid-October. Pinery Provincial Park is actually open year-round, so if you're up for a winter adventure, a few hosts in the area rent four-season motorhomes for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing along Pinery's 40 km of groomed trails.
weather.gc.ca/en/location/index.html?coords=42.958%2C-81.62I've never rented an RV before. Will I be ok?
You're going to be great, first time renting an RV is one of the most fun things you'll ever do, and Strathroy is an ideal place to start thanks to flat terrain, quiet country roads, and short drives to campgrounds. Every host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering propane, water, dump valves, slide-outs, and the generator, and many will text or call mid-trip if you have a question. Choose a Class C motorhome or a small travel trailer for your first rent an RV in Strathroy experience. Pro tip: schedule pickup in the morning so you arrive at camp in daylight.
destinationontario.com/en-ca/articles/rving-ontario-for-beginnersWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so whether you get a flat on Highway 402, a dead battery at Pinery, or a propane question late at night at Trout Haven Park, help is one phone call away. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip through the Help Center, and your host is usually a quick text away too. Save the roadside number in your phone before pickup, that one minute of prep turns any hiccup into a quick fix on your Strathroy RV trip.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Strathroy RV rental across the US border to Michigan?
Often yes. Strathroy is just 70 km from the Blue Water Bridge in Sarnia, your gateway to Michigan. Because insurance and protection coverage need to extend across the border, message the host directly from the listing to confirm cross-border travel before you book; many Strathroy hosts approve popular routes like Port Huron, Frankenmuth, or Sleeping Bear Dunes. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Bring your passport, vehicle registration, insurance documents, and the host's written permission, and you are set for an unforgettable RV road trip from Strathroy.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Strathroy RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, but it's manageable. Most Class C motorhomes around Strathroy average 18 to 22 litres per 100 km, travel trailers add 20 to 30 percent to your tow vehicle's consumption, and Class B campervans are far thriftier at around 12 to 15 L/100 km. Ontario gas prices typically hover in the $1.40 to $1.65 per litre range, so a weekend round trip from Strathroy to Pinery Provincial Park (about 100 km total) costs roughly $30 to $50 in fuel. Fill up in Strathroy or Watford before heading north, prices in Grand Bend tend to spike in summer.
ontario.ca/page/gasoline-pricesHow far in advance should I book a campground near Strathroy?
Book as early as you can, especially for summer. Ontario Parks opens reservations exactly five months ahead of your arrival date through reservations.ontarioparks.ca, and Pinery Provincial Park's beach sites for July long weekend and Civic Holiday weekend often fill within hours. For private parks like Trout Haven and Rock Glen Family Resort, two to three months ahead is usually plenty outside peak weekends. Pro tip: if Pinery shows fully booked, keep refreshing, cancellations pop up daily, or use a notification service. Lock in your campground first, then book your RV rental in Ontario, that way pickup and check-in line up perfectly.
reservations.ontarioparks.ca/What are the driving conditions like around Strathroy?
Driving an RV around Strathroy is refreshingly easy. Highway 402 is a wide, flat four-lane corridor connecting London and Sarnia, with gentle terrain, generous shoulders, and minimal mountain or hill driving. In-town routes like Front Street and Caradoc Street are straightforward, just watch for the train crossings near the CN line. Winter brings lake-effect snow squalls off Lake Huron from December through March, so most renters stick to May through October. Summer thunderstorms can pop up fast; pull off at a rest area if winds get heavy. Pro tip: avoid Pinery-bound traffic on Highway 21 on Friday afternoons in July by leaving before noon.
511on.ca/What amenities do campgrounds near Strathroy have for RVs?
Great mix. Private parks like Trout Haven Park in Strathroy and Rock Glen Family Resort offer full hookups (water, 30/50 amp electric, sewer), pull-thru sites, Wi-Fi, laundry, and pools. Ontario Provincial Parks including Pinery offer electrical service at many sites but no water or sewer hookups at the site itself; instead you'll use the two trailer sanitation stations (one near the main gate, one near Riverside Campground) for dumping black/grey tanks and filling fresh water. Comfort stations with hot showers and flush toilets are in every campground area. Top off fresh water before settling in, the Pinery dump-station lineup can get long on Sunday mornings.
ontarioparks.ca/park/pinery/campingWhat's included inside a typical Strathroy RV rental?
More than you'd expect. A typical motorhome rental in Strathroy comes fully equipped with a queen or king bed, a kitchen with fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, sink and cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, a dinette that converts to extra sleeping, furnace and air conditioning, plus seatbelts for every traveling passenger. Most Class C and Class A units include a generator for off-grid power, and many hosts add bonuses like a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and even a starter kit of paper towels and dish soap. Wi-Fi varies, so message the host if mobile hotspot or Starlink matters for your family RV trip in Strathroy.
destinationontario.com/en-ca/articles/rving-ontario-for-beginnersCan I add extras like camping gear, bikes, or a generator to my rental?
Yes, this is one of the best parts of booking with a local host. Many Strathroy owners offer add-ons like camp chairs and folding tables, bike racks, kayaks or stand-up paddleboards (perfect for the Old Ausable Channel at Pinery), portable BBQs, linens and bedding packages, and extra propane. Generators are usually built-in on Class A and C motorhomes; some travel trailer hosts rent portable units as an add-on. Pickup and drop-off happen at the host's location in Strathroy, or you can arrange delivery. Confirm the daily kilometre allowance on the listing and ask about pre-purchasing extra kilometres if you are planning a longer campervan rental Strathroy adventure.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Strathroy%2C%20OntarioHow does the security deposit and payment work?
Simple and secure. When you book an RV rental in Ontario through RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit card, never directly to the host, which keeps your money protected. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment before your trip, typically a few hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on the rig, and released after drop-off once the host confirms the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid surprises, do a quick walkaround video with the host at pickup and return, follow the fuel and dump-tank instructions, and stay within your mileage allowance.
