We found Darlene through RVezy.com, and she was absolutely wonderful to work with. From our very first interaction, we knew we could trust her to guide us through the RV rental process. We asked many questions along the way, and she answered every one with patience, clarity, and kindness. When we met in person to sign the documents, she took the time to walk us through each document, ensuring we felt confident and fully informed at every step. We rented Roady the RV (2019 Jayco Greyhawk Prestige) for a week-long trip from Ontario to PEI in June 2026 and absolutely loved our home on wheels. It was a fantastic experience that allowed us to create many wonderful memories. We would highly recommend this RV and would happily rent it again for a future adventure. Our super hosts, Darlene and Wayne, were exceptional—friendly, professional, and highly responsive throughout the entire process. Communication was always prompt and clear. Darlene truly went above and beyond by sharing excellent recommendations for activities and places to stay, offering helpful cost-saving tips, and being very flexible with both pickup and return times. The RV was spotless, extremely well equipped, and clearly very well maintained. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided, and the clear instructions made the entire trip stress-free and enjoyable from start to finish. Darlene strikes the perfect balance of expertise and warmth—we couldn’t have asked for a better RV experience. Thank you, Darlene and Wayne, for your outstanding super host service and genuine kindness. Highly recommended.

A slight delay on getting away but from then on in the experience was exactly what I was looking for and suited our needs. The van was stocked with everything one needed and more. The only items required were food, clothing and our choice to bring an umbrella. The bed was extremely comfortable. The host was very accommodating and communication easy. Pick up was easy as well as drop off. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a camper van to get away.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Murray Harbour, PE

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Murray Harbour, PE?

RV rental in Murray Harbour is affordable compared to many mainland destinations. On RVezy, you can typically find travel trailers from about $90 to $180 CAD per night, campervans from $120 to $225 CAD, and Class C motorhomes from $200 to $350 CAD per night. Hosts set their own rates, and prices are usually lowest in late spring (late May to mid-June) and early fall after Labour Day. To save more, look for listings with weekly discounts, free or low-cost delivery to nearby campgrounds, and generous mileage allowances. Pro tip: book by March for July and August dates, since the Murray Harbour area fills up quickly during lobster season.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Murray Harbour, PE?

Good news: a regular Class 5 driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Prince Edward Island. There is no Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special RV endorsement required for motorhomes, campervans, or travel trailers booked through RVezy. Approved renters are generally 25 or older, and you will upload a photo of your license during booking so RVezy can verify your ID. Visiting from outside Canada? Your home-country license is valid in PEI for short visits, and an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local automobile association is recommended if your license is not in English or French. Most first-time renters in Murray Harbour are on the road within minutes of pickup.

What protection is included when I rent an RV in Murray Harbour?

Every RV rental in Murray Harbour booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included, so you can explore the Points East Coastal Drive with peace of mind. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your level of coverage during booking (not the host). Coverage levels and details are shown clearly at checkout, so you know exactly what is included before you confirm. Paired with round-the-clock roadside help, a flat tire on Route 17 or a chipped windshield near Cape Bear Lighthouse becomes a manageable pause rather than a trip-ender.

What is the cancellation policy if my Murray Harbour RV trip plans change?

Booking your Murray Harbour RV trip is low-risk because RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy across the platform. There is a money-back grace period right after booking, plus tiered refunds based on how far ahead of your trip you cancel. The full policy details and refund timelines are shown during checkout before you confirm. If a host needs to cancel, RVezy works with you on a refund or travel credit so your plans stay protected. Pro tip: if weather or ferry conditions look uncertain, message your host early, many are flexible about shifting dates within the same season so your Prince Edward Island adventure stays on track.

Can I find a pet-friendly RV rental in Murray Harbour, PE?

Absolutely, many hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Murray Harbour, so your dog can ride shotgun along the Points East Coastal Drive. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy when you search, then message the host to confirm any size or breed notes. Once you arrive, your pup will love the off-leash romps at Panmure Island Provincial Park beach (about 25 minutes north), the trails around MacLure's Pond, and the wide sandy stretches at Poverty Beach. Kings Castle Provincial Park welcomes leashed dogs on the surrounding paths too. Pro tip: bring a towel and a freshwater jug, PEI's red sand is gorgeous but it loves to hitch a ride home in dog fur.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Murray Harbour?

Yes, RV delivery in Murray Harbour is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you're flying into Charlottetown Airport (about a 55-minute drive away). Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV right to your campsite at Somers By the Beach, Ocean Acres Cottages and Campground, or Seal Cove Campground, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Just use the Delivery filter on RVezy and enter your destination address. For first-time renters, this is a game-changer, you skip the highway drive entirely and start your Prince Edward Island RV trip with your feet in the sand and a lobster roll in hand.

How far can I travel on a Murray Harbour RV trip?

You can cover a lot of ground on an RV road trip from Murray Harbour because PEI is wonderfully compact. Many hosts include generous daily mileage (often 200 to 300 km per day), and some even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage. From Murray Harbour, you're 55 minutes to Charlottetown, about 90 minutes to Cavendish Beach and Green Gables, 20 minutes to the Wood Islands Ferry (which connects to Nova Scotia), and roughly 2 hours to the Confederation Bridge crossing into New Brunswick. The entire island loop is only about 275 km, so you can easily circle PEI in 3 to 5 relaxed days. Pro tip: confirm the mileage cap with your host before booking if you plan to cross over to Cape Breton or Halifax.

Where are the best campgrounds near Murray Harbour, PE?

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Murray Harbour. Somers By the Beach Campground (1937 Gladstone Road, Murray River) is a family favourite with waterfront sites, a heated pool, free kayaks, and Saturday mussel bakes in July and August. Ocean Acres Cottages and Campground (247 Fox River Road) offers 2 and 3-way hookups plus an on-site restaurant called The Deck. Seal Cove Campground in Murray Harbour North has beachfront access, a zip line, and is steps from the Wood Islands Ferry. Just up the coast, Panmure Island Provincial Park delivers some of the best white sand on the island. Pro tip: book by February for July weekends, these spots fill a full year in advance.

When is the best time of year for a Murray Harbour RV trip?

The sweet spot for renting an RV in Murray Harbour is mid-June through mid-September, when daytime highs typically sit around 22 to 25 degrees Celsius and the Northumberland Strait warms to some of the most swimmable waters in Atlantic Canada. July and August are peak season for beaches, lobster suppers, and community festivals around Murray River. For fewer crowds and lower prices, target late May to mid-June or the first three weeks of September, when temperatures often hover in the high teens and early fall colours begin along the Confederation Trail. Winters are cold (January lows often near -10 degrees Celsius), so most campgrounds close from late October to early May.

I'm a first-time RV renter. Is Murray Harbour a good place to start?

Murray Harbour is one of the most beginner-friendly spots in Atlantic Canada to rent an RV. The roads are quiet, the speed limits are gentle (mostly 70 to 80 km/h on rural routes), and there are no mountain passes or big-city traffic to navigate. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the propane, water pump, slide-outs, and dump valves, so you're never guessing. If even that feels like too much, ask for delivery and setup, your host handles everything. Pro tip for your first time renting an RV: do a short loop around Cape Bear Lighthouse and Beach Point your first afternoon to build confidence before tackling longer drives.

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You are covered around the clock. Every motorhome rental in Murray Harbour booked on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a dead battery on Gladstone Road or a flat tire near Cape Bear is just a phone call away from being sorted. You also have direct messaging with your host through the RVezy app, and most local Murray Harbour hosts live nearby and can help quickly with anything mechanical. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip too. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone before you leave the pickup driveway, you will likely never need it, but it is reassuring to have ready.

Can I take my Murray Harbour RV rental to Nova Scotia or New Brunswick?

Yes, an RV road trip from Murray Harbour to other Atlantic provinces is completely doable and many hosts welcome it. Nova Scotia is about a 20-minute drive to the Wood Islands Ferry, followed by a roughly 75-minute Northumberland Ferries sailing (seasonal, typically May to mid-December). New Brunswick is about 2 hours west via the Confederation Bridge, with popular routes leading to Hopewell Rocks and Fundy National Park. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy booking. Always message your host before booking to confirm interprovincial travel and any mileage adjustments. Pro tip: Cape Breton's Cabot Trail is the bucket-list extension if you have a full week.

What's the fuel budget for an RV trip from Murray Harbour?

Fuel is one of the easier parts of budgeting for RV camping in Murray Harbour because PEI is so compact. Most Class C motorhomes average 18 to 22 litres per 100 km, campervans get 12 to 16 L/100 km, and travel trailer setups depend on your tow vehicle. Gas prices on PEI are regulated and posted weekly by the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission, so you'll see consistent rates at stations in Montague (15 minutes away), Charlottetown, and Souris. For a classic 4 to 5 day Points East loop covering 400 to 600 km, budget roughly $100 to $200 CAD in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Montague before heading down the peninsula, the closest pumps to Murray Harbour itself can be limited on Sundays.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Murray Harbour?

For peak summer (July and August), book your campground 6 to 12 months ahead, the best waterfront sites at Somers By the Beach and Seal Cove are often reserved by the previous fall. Provincial parks like Panmure Island and Northumberland Provincial Park open reservations through the Tourism PEI online booking system (reserve.tourismpei.com) every January, and they fill within hours. For shoulder season trips in June or September, two to four weeks of notice is usually plenty. Pro tip: if you strike out on your first-choice dates, ask to join cancellation lists, locals do this every spring and it works surprisingly often. Combine an early booking with RV delivery and your Points East trip is basically planned.

What are local driving conditions like around Murray Harbour?

Driving an RV in Murray Harbour is genuinely relaxed. Route 17 (the main coastal road through the village) and Route 4 (connecting up to the Trans-Canada Highway) are paved, well-maintained, and rarely busy outside summer weekends. Watch for narrow shoulders on rural sections, occasional slow-moving farm equipment during potato harvest in September and October, and cyclists along the Points East Coastal Drive. Wind can be strong along exposed coastline near Cape Bear, so grip the wheel firmly in high-profile motorhomes. Fog can roll in on summer mornings but usually burns off by mid-morning. Pro tip: avoid the road to the Wood Islands Ferry on Friday afternoons in July when ferry-bound traffic backs up, take a quieter inland route instead.
princeedwardisland.ca/en/information/transportation-and-infrastructure/winter-highway-conditions

What amenities do campgrounds near Murray Harbour offer, and where can I dump tanks or fill water?

Local campgrounds are very RV-ready. Somers By the Beach and Ocean Acres both offer 2-way (water and power) and 3-way (water, power, sewer) hookup sites, plus on-site dump stations, potable water fills, hot showers, and laundry. Seal Cove Campground adds Wi-Fi, mini-golf, and a heated pool. Kings Castle Provincial Park next door is a day-use park with playgrounds and storybook statues, perfect for kids between sites. If you're boondocking, the closest public dump station is at Brudenell River Provincial Park (about 30 minutes north). Pro tip: PEI tap water at municipal campgrounds is excellent quality, so fill your fresh tank without hesitation, and dump grey/black tanks only at designated stations to keep the island's groundwater pristine.
tourismpei.com/pei-things-to-do/camping

What's typically included inside a Murray Harbour RV rental?

Most RV rentals in Murray Harbour come fully equipped so you can roll in and start cooking lobster the same evening. Expect a real bed (queen or king in motorhomes, plus convertible dinettes and bunks), a working kitchen with propane stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, sink, and basic cookware. Bathrooms include a toilet and shower in Class B, C, and most travel trailers. Many hosts also provide bedding, towels, outdoor chairs, a BBQ, levelling blocks, and a starter kit of paper goods. Seatbelts for every passenger are standard. Some listings include a generator, solar, or Wi-Fi hotspot, which is handy because cell coverage around Cape Bear and Murray Head can be spotty. Pro tip: check the listing's amenity list and message your host about anything specific like a coffee maker or kids' booster seats.
tourismpei.com/pei-things-to-do/camping

What add-ons and pickup options should I expect when I rent an RV in Prince Edward Island?

Hosts offering RV rental in Prince Edward Island typically include a menu of helpful add-ons during booking. Common options around Murray Harbour are delivery and setup (often $1.50 to $3.00 per km from the host's location), generator use, propane refills, BBQ rentals, bedding and linen packages, beach gear, bike racks, and pet cleaning fees. Mileage policies vary: many hosts include 150 to 300 km per day with a small per-kilometre charge above that, while some offer unlimited mileage on weekly bookings. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Murray Harbour, Montague, or Charlottetown. Pro tip: bundle delivery, linens, and a propane top-up into one booking, you'll save the hassle of stopping at the Murray River Co-op before settling in.
tourismpei.com/pei-things-to-do/camping

How does payment and the security deposit work for a Murray Harbour RV rental?

Payment for your campervan rental in Murray Harbour is handled securely through RVezy, you should never pay a host in cash or by e-transfer. At booking, you pay a portion to confirm your trip, with the balance charged automatically before pickup. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your credit card before your trip starts and released after drop-off, assuming no damage or extra cleaning is needed. To keep things smooth: do a thorough walk-around with your host at pickup and drop-off, take time-stamped photos, return the RV with tanks dumped and a similar fuel level, and report anything unusual through the RVezy app.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Is winter RV camping possible around Murray Harbour?

Winter RVing around Murray Harbour is an adventurous niche but possible with the right setup. Most private campgrounds close from late October to early May, though a few stay open year-round, so confirm directly with the campground before booking. Some RVezy hosts offer four-season campervans and motorhomes with heated tanks, insulated walls, and proper furnaces, ideal for cozy off-season getaways when the village is quiet and lighthouses look dramatic against snowy red cliffs. Filter for winter-ready RVs and message the host about cold-weather prep like skirting, antifreeze, and shore-power needs. Pro tip: pair a January trip with Jack Frost Winterfest in Charlottetown (about 55 minutes away) for a memorable off-season experience.
