2023 Jayco Travel Trailer
Would give 10/5 stars if possible! Immaculately clean RV with very comfortable beds, perfect fit for our family of 5. The bunk beds fit our 3 kids easily and my tall husband fit in the queen just fine. Jay and Andrea were excellent communicators and made the entire process seamless. They drove it to our camp site and set it up for us. It was essentially turnkey and just super easy. This RV has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Thank you so much for the RV for the weekend!

Cannot recommend Auburn RV Rentals enough! We were trying to coordinate a busy birthday weekend, including picking up the camper, and Jeff was nice enough to text the morning before our reservation and offer free delivery and setup. Everything was perfect—bedding, towels, kitchen essentials, coffee—everything! We can’t wait to rent from Jeff and Auburn RV Rentals again!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Opelika, AL
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Opelika, AL?
RV rental in Opelika is one of the more affordable ways to travel the South, with most travel trailers starting around $80 to $150 per night and larger Class C motorhomes typically running $175 to $300 per night on RVezy. Campervan rental in Opelika sits in the middle, usually $125 to $200 per night. Weekday bookings outside of Auburn University football weekends usually score the best rates. For a cheap RV rental in Opelika, filter by travel trailers, book at least 30 days out, and look for hosts offering weekly discounts. Pro tip: avoid the Iron Bowl rivalry weekend in late November if you want maximum savings.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Opelika%2C%20AlabamaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Opelika?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Opelika, Alabama. There's no special RV license or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required for any motorhome or travel trailer available on RVezy, whether you're booking a campervan or a 32-foot Class C. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your identity right through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto association before you fly in, usually under $25, and you're set for your Opelika RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental in Opelika protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road around Opelika and Lee County with real peace of mind. During checkout you'll choose your protection level, and different tiers offer different coverage limits for accidental damage to the RV. It's purpose-built for peer-to-peer RV rentals rather than traditional auto insurance. Combined with the host walkthrough at pickup, you'll feel ready to roll out toward Chewacla State Park with confidence.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Opelika RV rental?
Booking an RV rental in Opelika is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy at the platform level, not individual hosts. Refund outcomes depend on how far out you are from your trip start date and the policy applied to your booking. If a host cancels, RVezy refunds the guest or provides travel credits. If anything ever feels uncertain, RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip to help you sort it out.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Opelika?
Yes, plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Opelika, and you can find them in seconds by toggling the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy. Your pup will love it here: Chewacla State Park in nearby Auburn allows leashed dogs on its hiking and mountain biking trails, and the city's Municipal Park has open green space perfect for stretching legs after a drive. Many Opelika hosts charge a small pet fee (usually $25 to $75 per stay) to cover extra cleaning. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm your dog's size and breed are a fit, and ask about the nearest grassy spot at their preferred pickup location.
alapark.com/parks/chewacla-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campground or address in Opelika?
Yes, RV delivery in Opelika is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts will tow the trailer or drive the motorhome straight to your campsite at Chewacla State Park or a private address inside Opelika or Auburn, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees typically run $2 to $5 per mile from the host's location. Use the Delivery filter when searching, and message the host to confirm setup details, especially if you want it ready before you arrive from the airport.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Opelika%2C%20AlabamaHow far can I drive on my Opelika RV rental? Are there mileage limits?
You've got real range from Opelika, and many hosts even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for an Opelika RV trip looping through the Southeast. Each listing clearly displays the included miles per night (often 100 to 150) and the per-mile fee beyond that, usually $0.30 to $0.50. To put it in perspective, the Gulf Coast at Gulf Shores is about 250 miles south, Atlanta is roughly 110 miles northeast, and Nashville is around 290 miles away. Pro tip: if you're planning a longer haul, filter for unlimited-mileage listings or ask the host about a custom mileage package before booking, it's often cheaper than paying per mile.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Opelika%2C%20AlabamaWhat are the best campgrounds near Opelika for RV camping?
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Opelika. The best campgrounds near Opelika include Chewacla State Park (just 10 minutes away in Auburn, with full-hookup sites tucked among pines, a swimming lake, and the regionally famous mountain bike trails), Spring Villa Campground (a city-run park right in Opelika with concrete pads and full hookups around $35 a night), Lakeside RV Park on US Highway 280, and R. Shaefer Heard Campground on West Point Lake about 50 minutes away. For a snowbird-friendly stop with a pool and lazy river, check Pine Mountain RV Resort near Columbus. Book Chewacla 4 to 6 months ahead for football weekends, it fills fast.
alapark.com/parks/chewacla-state-parkWhen is the best time to take an RV trip from Opelika?
The sweet spot for an RV road trip from Opelika is mid-March through May and again from late September through early November, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to low 80s and humidity drops. Summers (June through August) are hot and humid with average highs near 91 degrees F in July and frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so you'll want a rental with strong air conditioning. Winters are mild (highs in the mid-50s, lows in the upper 30s), which means RV camping in Opelika is genuinely a year-round option. Pro tip: October is the local favorite for low rainfall, fall foliage at Chewacla, and Auburn home football games for added excitement.
weather.gov/bmx/I've never driven an RV. Will I be okay renting one in Opelika?
You're going to do great. First time renting an RV is easier than most people expect, especially in Opelika where roads like I-85, US-280, and US-29 are wide, well-maintained, and not nearly as intimidating as urban interstates. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, covering driving tips, dumping the tanks, leveling, the awning, and propane, so you're never figuring it out alone. If parking a motorhome makes you nervous, choose a travel trailer paired with delivery, that way you'll never tow it yourself. Practice tip: do a slow loop through the parking lot at Tiger Town shopping center after pickup to get comfortable with mirrors and turning radius before merging onto the highway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
You're covered: every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if a tire blows on I-85 or the battery dies at a campsite near Tuskegee National Forest, help is one phone call away. Roadside assistance handles flat tires, lockouts, jump starts, fuel delivery, and towing to a qualified service center. Your host is also typically just a text away and knows their RV inside and out, often the quickest way to troubleshoot small issues like a finicky propane regulator. RVezy customer support is available around the clock as well. Save both numbers in your phone before you pull out of the pickup location, and you'll be set for whatever the road brings.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Opelika RV rental across state lines or to Florida?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome on most RVezy rentals from Opelika, and the location is perfect for it. Popular routes include heading south on US-431 to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach (about 4.5 hours), east into Georgia to Savannah (around 5 hours), or north up I-85 to the Great Smoky Mountains (roughly 5 hours). Crossing into Florida for the Panhandle beaches is a classic Opelika RV trip. One important note: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy bookings because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Always message your host with your planned route, especially for multi-state trips, so they can confirm everything aligns with their listing terms.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on an RV trip from Opelika?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest cost after the rental itself, but it's predictable. Expect 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class C motorhome, 6 to 8 MPG for a Class A, 18 to 22 MPG for a campervan, and roughly your tow vehicle's normal MPG minus 30 to 40 percent for a travel trailer. Alabama gas prices typically run below the national average, and stations along I-85 near Opelika and in Auburn are competitive. A weekend trip to Gulf Shores and back (about 500 miles round-trip) in a Class C will likely cost $130 to $175 in fuel. Pro tip: download the GasBuddy app and fill up at the Buc-ee's in Auburn for some of the lowest prices in the region.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Opelika?
For most campgrounds near Opelika, booking 2 to 3 months ahead is plenty, but a few dates need much more lead time. Chewacla State Park sites can be reserved through the Alabama State Parks reservation system, and they sell out fast for Auburn University football weekends, graduation in May, and any holiday weekend, so aim for 6 months out for those. Federal sites like R. Shaefer Heard on West Point Lake book through Recreation.gov on a 6-month rolling window. For weekday stays at Spring Villa Campground or Lakeside RV Park, a week's notice is often enough. Pro tip: midweek arrivals almost always have availability and cheaper rates.
recreation.gov/What are the driving conditions like around Opelika?
Driving around Opelika is low-stress compared to bigger Southern metros. I-85 runs right through town with wide lanes and gentle grades, and US-280 and US-29 connect you to Auburn, Phenix City, and the lakes without any tough mountain passes. Watch for two things: sudden afternoon thunderstorms in summer (pull over and wait them out, they usually pass in 20 minutes), and Auburn football traffic on home game Saturdays, when surface streets near Jordan-Hare Stadium become congested from late morning until well after kickoff. The terrain is gently rolling with elevations between 650 and 850 feet, so even first-time motorhome drivers handle it comfortably. Plan fuel stops every 150 to 200 miles to keep things easy.
algotraffic.com/Where can I dump tanks and fill water around Opelika?
Good news: dump stations and freshwater fills are easy to find around Opelika. Chewacla State Park has a public dump station available to campers, and Spring Villa Campground in Opelika offers full hookups at every site, so you can dump and rinse before heading home. R. Shaefer Heard Campground on West Point Lake also has a dump station, and most full-hookup sites in the area include sewer right at the pad. Many truck stops along I-85 offer dump and water for a small fee (usually $10 to $15). Pro tip: ask your host if their RV's freshwater tank is full at pickup, that simple confirmation saves a stop on day one of your trip.
alapark.com/parks/chewacla-state-parkWhat's actually inside the RVs I can rent in Opelika?
You'll be impressed by how well-equipped Opelika rentals are. Most motorhomes and travel trailers on RVezy come with a queen or king bed, a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, dinette seating that converts to extra sleeping, air conditioning (essential for Alabama summers), a furnace for cool nights, and a TV. Many also include WiFi hotspots, outdoor speakers, awnings, and onboard generators for boondocking. Campervan rentals in Opelika are more compact but still pack beds, mini-fridges, and stovetops into clever layouts. Each listing details exactly what's included, sleeps count, and seatbelts available. Pro tip: filter by sleeps count and amenities like generator or solar if you're planning to camp off-grid.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Opelika%2C%20AlabamaWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts offer add-ons that make your Opelika RV trip smoother. Common options include linen and towel packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits with pots and dishes ($25 to $50), camp chairs and outdoor rugs, bike racks, generators, and even pre-stocked propane and full freshwater tanks. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Opelika, Auburn, or a nearby town, but many hosts also offer delivery directly to your campsite or address. Mileage policies are listed on every page (look for unlimited-mileage options if you're road-tripping). Pro tip: book your add-ons when you book the RV, popular items like bike racks and generators get reserved quickly during Auburn home game weekends and spring break.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Opelika%2C%20AlabamaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which keeps everything documented and protected. A security deposit (usually $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is held separately from the booking payment and pre-authorized on your card before pickup, so it just holds funds in reserve. As long as you return the RV in the condition you received it, the hold is released after your trip. To avoid any issues, do a thorough walkthrough video at pickup and dropoff, follow the host's mileage and generator-hours policies, and dump the tanks before return if required. That's it, you're set for a smooth Opelika RV rental experience.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works
