2005 Dodge Class B
A truly excellent rental experience. The host was accommodating on pickup time, it was clean, everything worked, and it was fully equipped. Dishes, cookware, bedding, camping chairs, games, movies, and so many miscellaneous items. When we thought of something we needed it always turned out to be in a drawer. Dropping off was smooth and easy. We've camped for years with an A-frame trailer and this was our first time with a camping van. We love our A-frame but now we want one just like Ms. Retro.

Levi made it real easy to rent his trailer, as well as do the walk through at a separate time. This was my first time with an RV with a black tank, so I sprung for his "Trailer 101" extra. It was well worth it, as it made me confident of a "no mishap" first cleaning. The unit towed nicely, and was great for the rain. The insulation in the roof muffled the rain nicely. And the heater did a great job keeping the inside comfortable. Easy pick up and drop off location.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Napa?

Good news: an RV rental in Napa is one of the smartest ways to experience Wine Country without paying $500+ per night for a hotel. On RVezy, you'll typically find travel trailers from around $90 to $175 per night, Class C motorhomes from $175 to $300, and luxury Class A coaches above $350. What license do I need to rent an RV in Napa?

Great news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Napa. The best campgrounds near Napa include: Napa Valley Expo RV Park (right downtown, walking distance to Oxbow Public Market and tasting rooms, full hookups); Skyline Wilderness Park (just east of downtown on Imola Avenue, around 30 RV sites, hiking and disc golf); Bothe-Napa Valley State Park (5 miles north of St. Helena under redwoods and Douglas fir, reservations via ReserveCalifornia); Calistoga RV Park at the Napa County Fairgrounds (heart of Calistoga's spa scene); and Pleasure Cove or Steele Canyon Campground on Lake Berryessa for boating and swimming. Pro tip: book Bothe-Napa six months out for harvest weekends, sites disappear fast.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip in Napa?

Honestly, Napa is a year-round RV destination, with each season offering something special. Spring (March to May) brings wildflower-covered hillsides, mustard blooms, and daytime highs in the mid-60s to mid-70s Fahrenheit, perfect mild weather for RV camping in Napa. Summer (June to August) is hot and dry with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, great for Lake Berryessa swimming. Fall (September to October) is the legendary harvest crush, busy but magical, with warm days and cool nights. Winter (November to February) is the local insider's secret: highs in the upper 50s, fewer crowds, lower nightly rates, and cozy fireplaces in tasting rooms. Pro tip: shoulder seasons offer the best value and lightest traffic on Highway 29.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Napa?

You've got this, first time renting an RV in Napa is easier than you'd think. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, and the propane system. For Napa specifically, stick to Highway 29 (wide and flat through the valley floor) rather than the narrower, winding Silverado Trail with a big rig, and avoid Mt. Veeder and Oakville Grade roads in larger Class A or C motorhomes. Better yet, book a host who delivers and sets up the RV at your campground so your only driving is to wineries in your tow car or via Uber. Pro tip: pick a campervan rental Napa or small travel trailer for your first Napa trip, easier to park downtown.

What should I budget for fuel on a Napa RV trip?

Fuel is the biggest variable in your budget, but Napa trips are usually short on driving and long on sipping, which keeps costs reasonable. Class B campervans get roughly 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 mpg, and Class A coaches 6 to 10 mpg. California gas prices run higher than the national average, expect $4.75 to $5.50 per gallon in Napa County in 2026, with diesel slightly higher. For a typical 3-day Napa RV trip covering 150 to 200 miles, plan on $80 to $200 in fuel. For winter and early spring, you can often score sites just a week or two ahead. What are the driving conditions like in Napa for an RV?

Napa is one of the friendlier wine regions to drive an RV, with a few smart tips. Highway 29 runs the length of the valley and is wide, flat, and RV-friendly, though it backs up Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings during harvest, plan to drive between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. when possible. The Silverado Trail is scenic but narrower; fine for travel trailers and Class B and C rigs, tight for big Class A coaches. Avoid Mt. Veeder Road, Oakville Grade, and the Oakville Cross Road shortcut in anything over 25 feet. Watch for cyclists on the Napa Valley Vine Trail crossings. Pro tip: in summer, fire weather can trigger Red Flag warnings; check Caltrans QuickMap before driving north toward Calistoga.

What hookups and amenities will I find at Napa campgrounds?

You'll find excellent infrastructure at most Napa-area RV parks. Napa Valley Expo RV Park and Calistoga RV Park offer full hookups (30/50-amp electric, water, sewer) and Wi-Fi right downtown. Skyline Wilderness Park has water and electric with a centralized dump station. Bothe-Napa Valley State Park is more rustic, with no hookups but coin-operated showers, potable water fill, and a dump station on-site. Lake Berryessa's Pleasure Cove offers partial hookups and a marina. For dumping and water fills mid-trip, the Napa-Vallejo Waste Management Station and most Flying J or Pilot stations along I-80 in Vacaville are reliable. Pro tip: hookups at some private parks may be restricted during peak fire weather, confirm with the campground a few days before arrival.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a credit or debit card, and your funds are held until your trip starts, you never hand cash to the host. To avoid surprises, take time-stamped photos of the RV's exterior, interior, tanks, and fuel level at pickup and drop-off. Pro tip: return your Napa rental with the same fuel and propane levels and the holding tanks dumped if required, that's the fastest path to getting your full deposit back within days.
