This was our first campervan rental (actually, it was our first Campervan trip of any kind) and it has really inspired us do it again. Renting from Linda was easy. She was very responsive to any questions we had about the process and what was included. The van was amazing. Spotlessly clean with everything we needed to make our trip easy. The walk through was informative and Linda answered all our questions. We could not have been happier with our experience. We'll be renting again for sure!

Derek’s rig was absolutely perfect for our week's getaway to Fort De Soto. I highly recommend booking with him. Derek is exceptionally friendly, quick to communicate, and genuinely great to work with. The rig itself was spotless, well-equipped, and everything functioned exactly as it should. Both pickup and drop off were seamless and stress-free. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish.

What do I need to rent an RV in Citrus Park, FL?

Top picks include Bay Bayou RV Resort just a few miles away in Town 'n' Country (waterfront sites, pool, full hookups), Lazydays RV Resort in Seffner (large resort with a clubhouse and amenities), Hillsborough River State Park about 30 miles northeast (wooded sites along a scenic Florida river), and Fort De Soto Park near St. Petersburg (Gulf-front camping on a barrier island). When is the best time for a Citrus Park RV trip?

Citrus Park is a year-round RV destination, but the sweet spot runs October through April when daytime highs sit roughly between 70 and 82°F and humidity is more comfortable. Winter (December to February) is peak snowbird season with cooler days, perfect for hiking the Upper Tampa Bay Trail or exploring Caladesi Island. Summer (June to September) brings 90°F heat, daily thunderstorms, and hurricane season, but also lower RV rental prices and quieter beaches at sunrise. Local tip: book a campervan rental in Citrus Park for late October, you will catch warm Gulf water and lighter crowds.

I've never rented an RV before. Is Citrus Park a good place to start?

Yes, Citrus Park is one of the friendliest places in Florida for first time renting an RV. The terrain is flat, the campgrounds are well-marked, and most local hosts give a thorough orientation at pickup walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water system, and dump procedures before you turn the key. If you would rather skip driving altogether, choose a host who offers delivery and setup. Stick with a smaller Class C motorhome or travel trailer for your first trip, both handle similar to a large van. Pro tip: do a quick practice loop through a large parking lot on a quiet morning before hitting the highway.

What happens if the RV breaks down during my Citrus Park trip?

You are covered. Every RVezy booking with a protection plan includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so whether you have a flat on the Veterans Expressway, a dead battery at Caladesi Island, or a hookup issue at Lazydays, help is one phone call away. Start by contacting RVezy support and your host (their number is in the booking), most Citrus Park hosts live within 20 minutes and can troubleshoot quickly. For mechanical issues, roadside assistance dispatches a local pro. Tampa has many RV-capable service centers including Lazydays Service Center in Seffner. Keep the host's number saved and you will never feel stranded.

Can I take my Citrus Park RV rental out of Florida or across the border?

Many hosts allow interstate travel, so a Citrus Park RV rental can take you up I-75 to Georgia's Okefenokee Swamp, along the Gulf Coast to Alabama's white-sand beaches, or all the way to the Smoky Mountains. Confirm out-of-state travel with your host before booking, since some include unlimited miles within Florida only. One important note: travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because the protection plan and insurance do not extend there. Cross-border travel between the US and Canada is generally permitted with host approval, though it is a long drive from Tampa Bay. Popular interstate routes include the Florida-Georgia coastal loop and the Gulf Coast run to New Orleans.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Citrus Park RV trip?

Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, but it is easy to plan for. Class C motorhomes around Citrus Park typically get 8 to 10 miles per gallon (mpg), Class B campervans manage 15 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (expect 10 to 12 mpg). Florida gas prices generally run close to the national average, and you will find Wawa, RaceTrac, and Buc-ee's stations along the Suncoast Parkway with high canopies that fit tall rigs. Budget tip: a 300-mile loop to Crystal River and back in a Class C uses roughly 35 gallons of fuel. Fill up off-highway in places like Lutz or Odessa for the best prices.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Citrus Park?

For Florida state parks, book as early as possible. The Florida State Parks reservation system opens 11 months in advance, and popular sites like Hillsborough River State Park and Fort De Soto fill up the morning slots become available, especially November through April. Private parks like Bay Bayou and Lazydays often book 2 to 4 months ahead for winter. If you are flexible, mid-week stays in May or September are usually wide open. Reserve through floridastateparks.org for state sites and directly with private parks for everything else. Pro tip: pair your RVezy booking confirmation with your campground reservation so you can coordinate delivery if your host offers it.

What are driving conditions like around Citrus Park?

Driving an RV around Citrus Park is straightforward, flat roads, wide lanes, and no mountain passes. The Veterans Expressway (SR 589) and Suncoast Parkway just east of town are RV-friendly toll roads that bypass Tampa traffic and lead toward Crystal River or downtown. Avoid the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in high winds (it can restrict high-profile vehicles during strong gusts), and skip narrow Bayshore Boulevard in a big rig. Summer afternoons bring sudden thunderstorms, so plan driving for mornings. Watch height clearances near downtown Tampa parking garages. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, monitor forecasts and you will be fine.

What amenities do campgrounds near Citrus Park offer?

Campgrounds around Citrus Park run the full spectrum. Resort-style parks like Bay Bayou RV Resort and Lazydays offer full hookups (50-amp electric, water, sewer at the site), pools, laundry, WiFi, and dog parks. State parks like Hillsborough River have water and electric at most sites plus a central dump station and hot showers. Fort De Soto adds Gulf-front views and a boat ramp. Many county parks have dump stations for registered campers, and you can top off fresh water at any campground spigot before departure. Pro tip: even at full-hookup parks, carry a sewer hose and a water pressure regulator, your host will usually provide both.

A typical motorhome rental in Citrus Park comes fully equipped: queen or king bed, full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette that converts to extra sleeping, air conditioning (essential for Tampa Bay), heating, and seatbelted seats for travel. WiFi is usually via your phone hotspot, though some hosts include a mobile router. Travel trailers sleep 4 to 8 with similar features minus the cab. Check each listing's amenities list, family RV trips in Citrus Park are easy with bunkhouse floor plans.

Pickup is usually at the host's home in the Citrus Park, Westchase, or Carrollwood area with a 60 to 90 minute walkthrough. How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment on RVezy is simple and secure, everything runs through the platform, so you never hand cash to a host. You pay through RVezy at booking using a credit card, which locks in your dates and supports identity verification. A separate refundable security deposit is held before pickup, typically several hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV. As long as you return the rig in the condition you received it (with the agreed fuel, propane, and tank levels), the deposit is released after the trip. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos at pickup and dropoff, it is the easiest way to avoid any dispute over your Citrus Park RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

How do I handle summer heat and hurricane season in a Citrus Park RV?

Florida summers are intense but very manageable in an RV. Daytime highs in Citrus Park hit around 90 to 94°F from June through September with high humidity, so look for rentals with dual roof air conditioners or a 30/50-amp shore power setup that can run AC continuously. Park in shaded sites at places like Hillsborough River State Park, drive in the cooler morning hours, and stay hydrated. Hurricane season (June 1 to November 30) rarely disrupts trips, but watch the National Hurricane Center forecast and have a flexible plan. RVezy support helps coordinate changes when named storms threaten Tampa Bay. Shoulder months (October, November, April, May) are the smart-money sweet spot, warm Gulf water, lower prices, fewer storms.
