Carlos went out of his way to make everything work. It was an especially crowded weekend in Miami with a lot of traffic, and Carlos delivered the RV like a professional. The RV itself, is extremely accommodating. Our favorite part where the wonderful meals we had. My family really enjoyed it. Everything was as described or better. It came with bedding, and everything you need for a wonderful experience. Everything was perfectly clean, and smelled good, etc. Don't take that for granted, sometimes RVs have a little smell to them. Carlos keeps this one smelling fantastic. It was clean, it was nice, and I would highly recommend.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in West Miami, FL

How much does it cost to rent an RV in West Miami, FL?

RV rental in West Miami is more affordable than most visitors expect, especially compared to South Beach hotel rates. On RVezy, motorhomes near Miami average around $200 per night and towable trailers run closer to $120 per night, with many owners offering 10-20% off for weekly or monthly bookings. To find a cheap RV rental in West Miami, set your price filter, travel in the shoulder months of May or late November, and skip Art Basel week in early December when demand spikes. Pro tip: bundling delivery to your campground often costs less than the fuel and stress of driving a big rig through Dolphin Expressway traffic yourself.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in West Miami?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in West Miami. Florida lets you drive any motorhome with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,000 pounds or less on a standard Class E license, which covers virtually every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer on RVezy. Approved RVezy renters are generally 25 or older, and ID verification happens right inside the booking flow, so there is no extra DMV trip. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set to cruise Calle Ocho the same day you land at MIA.

What protection is included with my West Miami RV rental?

Every booking on RVezy automatically comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are covered from the moment you pull out of the driveway in West Miami. You choose your protection level during checkout (not the host), and the plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, which is especially reassuring when navigating tight streets around Coral Way or parking near Miami International Airport. If anything goes sideways, one call to RVezy support gets help rolling to you, day or night.

What if I need to cancel my Miami RV trip?

Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (hosts do not dictate it), so terms are consistent across every listing. Review the cancellation policy on the listing before you book so you know exactly how refunds work for your dates. If a named tropical storm or hurricane threatens South Florida during Atlantic hurricane season (June through November), RVezy support works with guests on options. Pro tip: book early for Ultra Music Festival, Miami Open, and spring break weeks, then relax knowing the policy is clear and consistent.

Can I bring my dog on an RV rental in West Miami?

Absolutely, plenty of pet-friendly RV rentals in West Miami welcome four-legged co-pilots. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see motorhomes and travel trailers whose hosts have explicitly opened the door to pets (some charge a small cleaning fee, which is always shown before you book). Once you've got your pup loaded up, Miami delivers: Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah has a fenced off-leash Bark Park, Tropical Park has shaded dog runs, and Hobie Beach on Virginia Key is one of the only dog-friendly beaches in Miami-Dade. Bring extra water bowls, because South Florida heat is no joke even in winter.

Can the RV be delivered to me in West Miami?

Yes, RV delivery in West Miami is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game-changer if it is your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts will drop the rig directly at your campground (Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park, Miami Everglades Resort, or Goldcoaster RV Park are common spots), level it, hook up water, power, and sewer, then walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Some will even deliver to a friend's driveway in Westchester or Coral Gables. Filter for Delivery on the search page, then message the host to confirm the fee, which is usually a flat rate plus a per-mile charge after a set radius.

How far can I drive on an RV rental from West Miami?

You can roam as far as your itinerary dreams, and many West Miami hosts on RVezy offer generous daily mileage allotments or even RV rental with unlimited mileage. Popular drives from here are perfectly sized for a week-long loop: Key West is about 165 miles south on the Overseas Highway (around 3.5 hours), Everglades National Park's Flamingo campground is 60 miles southwest, Naples on the Gulf Coast is 125 miles via Alligator Alley, and Orlando theme parks sit 235 miles north on the Turnpike. Always check the listing's mileage policy before booking, and if you're planning a big loop, message the host to negotiate a custom package.

Where are the best campgrounds near West Miami?

You have excellent options within 30 minutes of West Miami. Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park in southwest Miami-Dade has 240 full-hookup sites right next to Zoo Miami and a large swimming lake. Encore Miami Everglades in Homestead is a resort-style park with pools, mini-golf, and easy Everglades access. Goldcoaster RV Park in Florida City is a great base for Key Largo day trips. For something closer to the beach, Markham Park in Sunrise offers full hookups in a wooded county-park setting. Pro tip: book Larry and Penny Thompson around 6 months ahead for winter stays, the snowbird crowd fills it fast.

When is the best time to visit West Miami in an RV?

The sweet spot for RV camping in West Miami runs from mid-November through April, when daytime highs sit around 75 to 80°F, humidity drops, and mosquitoes are far less active. December through February is peak snowbird season with the most comfortable temperatures (lows around 60°F at night) and minimal risk of tropical storms. Spring (March to April) brings warm weather and thinner crowds after Presidents' Day. Summer is hot, humid, and stormy (highs near 90°F with daily afternoon thunderstorms and hurricane season from June through November), so if you visit then, prioritize an RV with strong air conditioning and shaded campsites. Local insider tip: aim for early December to combine great weather with Art Basel energy.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one in Miami?

You'll be totally fine, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, and the dump valves, and most renters say the orientation takes about 30 to 45 minutes. For Miami specifically, choose a Class B campervan or small Class C if you're nervous about freeways like I-95 or the Palmetto Expressway, since they drive much like a large SUV. Even better: book delivery and skip city driving entirely. You can also message your host before booking with any question (lane width on the Rickenbacker Causeway, anyone?) and they'll happily answer.

What happens if something breaks down during my trip?

Take a deep breath: 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking, so help is one phone call away whether you are stuck on the Florida Turnpike or in a Homestead campground. Roadside assistance covers common issues like tows, tire changes, jump starts, and lockouts, and the RVezy support team can help coordinate next steps for things like AC failure (critical in Miami heat), generator problems, or slide-out malfunctions. Your host is also a real person you can message directly through the app. Pro tip: snap photos of the RV systems during your walkthrough so you can reference them if you need to describe an issue later.

Can I take my RV rental from Miami to the Keys or out of state?

Yes, classic Florida road trips are completely on the table. The drive from Miami to Key West on US-1 is one of the most iconic RV road trips from West Miami, with bridges over turquoise water and stops at Key Largo, Islamorada, and Marathon. Heading north, many hosts allow interstate travel up to Orlando, the Panhandle, or even Georgia and the Carolinas, just confirm with your host before booking. Important: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage stop at the border. For any cross-state trip, message the host first so mileage and travel range are clear up front.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Miami RV trip?

Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, but it's easy to plan for. Class C motorhomes around Miami average 8 to 10 miles per gallon, Class B campervans get 16 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Florida gas prices typically hover near the national average (check GasBuddy before you leave), and you'll find the cheapest stations along US-1 in Homestead and the Turnpike service plazas. For a 4-day Miami-to-Key-West round trip in a Class C, budget roughly $150-$200 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up before crossing into the Keys, where prices jump noticeably south of Florida City.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far ahead should I book a campground near West Miami?

For peak winter season (December through March), book 6 to 11 months ahead, especially for Miami-Dade County parks like Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park, which accepts reservations up to 6 months in advance. Florida State Parks open reservations 11 months out, and snowbird-favorite spots like Bahia Honda and Long Key in the Keys often sell out within minutes. For summer and shoulder seasons, 2 to 4 weeks ahead is usually fine. Local insider tip: set a calendar alert for the 8 a.m. ET reservation opening time and have your dates, rig length, and credit card ready, it is a sprint.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reservation-information

What are Miami's roads and traffic like for driving an RV?

Honest truth: Miami traffic is busy, but RV-friendly routes are everywhere once you know them. Stick to the Florida Turnpike, I-75 (Alligator Alley), and US-1 south of the city, all wide, well-maintained, and easy in a 25 to 30-foot RV. Avoid downtown Miami, Brickell, and South Beach in a large motorhome (low-clearance garages, tight one-way streets, and the MacArthur Causeway get cramped); use delivery or park in West Miami and Uber in for nightlife. Florida law caps RV height at 13 feet 6 inches and length at 65 feet, well above what you'll be driving. Watch for sudden afternoon downpours in summer, they cut visibility fast.
fdot.gov/traffic/

What amenities will I find at campgrounds around West Miami?

South Florida campgrounds are well-equipped. Most full-service parks near West Miami (Larry and Penny Thompson, Miami Everglades Resort, Goldcoaster) offer 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups at each site, plus swimming pools, laundry, Wi-Fi, and on-site dump stations. Knowing where to park an RV in West Miami also means knowing where to refill and dump: most paid campgrounds let registered guests use the dump station free, and several Pilot/Flying J truck stops along the Turnpike offer public dump and potable-water fills for around $15. Pro tip: top off your fresh water before heading into the Everglades or Keys, where potable fills can be scarce and pricier.
nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/campgrounds.htm

What's inside a typical RV rental in West Miami?

You'll feel right at home. A typical motorhome rental in West Miami comes with a real bed (or two), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, dinette seating, roof AC (essential in Miami), and usually a TV. Many listings include a generator for off-grid power, propane for cooking, and seatbelts for every passenger, which matters when you're driving the family up to Orlando. Class B campervan rentals in West Miami are more compact but still include a bed, mini-kitchen, and often a wet bath. Each listing on RVezy spells out exactly what's included, plus photos, so you can pick the right fit before you book.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safety

What add-ons and options can I get with my RV rental?

Miami hosts often offer the extras that turn a rental into a vacation: beach chairs, BBQs, paddleboards, bike racks, kids' bedding bundles, generators, and even pre-stocked kitchen kits. Many also offer convenient pickup at MIA or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport (FLL) for fly-in travelers. Mileage policies vary, common setups are 100 to 150 free miles per day with a small per-mile fee after, while some hosts offer unlimited mileage packages perfect for a Keys-to-Orlando loop. All add-ons and fees are listed transparently on each listing page. Pro tip: ask about a Festival-Friendly host if you're heading to Ultra, Rolling Loud, or Calle Ocho, they're used to event drop-offs.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay directly through RVezy with a credit card at booking, no cash or off-platform transfers (that is how you stay protected). A refundable security deposit is handled through RVezy and is separate from your booking payment; it is released back to you after drop-off, assuming the RV comes back in the same condition it left. To avoid any deposit issues, do a thorough walkthrough at pickup, take date-stamped photos and video of the interior, exterior, and odometer, return the rig with the tanks and fuel level the host requested, and message the host through the app for anything unusual. That paper trail is your best friend.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

How do I handle Miami's heat and summer storms in an RV?

Summer in Miami is doable in an RV if you plan smart. Daytime highs sit around 88 to 92°F with high humidity, so prioritize listings with dual roof AC units and shaded campsites (Larry and Penny Thompson has plenty of mature trees). Run your generator or stay on shore power at full-hookup sites to keep AC blasting all day. Drive in the morning when storms are less likely, afternoon thunderstorms hit like clockwork between 2 and 5 p.m. from June through September. Keep an eye on the National Hurricane Center during peak season and build flexibility into your itinerary. The reward? Cheap RV rental rates in West Miami and quiet campgrounds when the snowbirds are gone.
