We highly recommend renting this RV. The RV performed great on our family vacation from Texas to St. Louis, MO. We comfortably sleep 6 people with room to spare. The RV was easy to drive. The owners took time to explain how to use everything and were available to call if we needed help. Overall, a great experience!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Breese, IL
How much does an RV rental in Breese, IL typically cost?
An RV rental in Breese is one of the more affordable ways to explore southern Illinois. On RVezy, travel trailers in the Breese area generally start around $90 to $140 per night, Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A coaches range from $250 to $400 per night. Prices climb a bit around Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends at Carlyle Lake, so booking 2 to 3 months ahead is the smart play. Midweek pickups (Monday through Thursday) often shave 10 to 20 percent off weekend rates, and filtering for travel trailers usually surfaces the cheapest RV rental Breese has to offer.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Breese,IllinoisWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Breese, IL?
Great news for first-time renters: a regular Illinois driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Breese. The Illinois Secretary of State does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes or travel trailers, regardless of size, so you can hop into a Class A, Class C, or campervan without extra paperwork. You'll need to be at least 25 years old to book on RVezy, and ID verification happens right inside the platform when you check out. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit and you're set for your Breese RV trip.
ilsos.gov/departments/drivers/drivers_license/home.htmlWhat kind of protection is included when I rent an RV in Breese?
You are covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Breese, IL booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are never stranded on I-64 or a quiet county road near Carlyle Lake. During checkout you choose the protection tier that fits your trip (this is set by RVezy, not the host), and it covers most accidental damage to the RV during your rental. It gives you real financial peace of mind so a flat tire or fender bump does not ruin your getaway. Pick your level, hit book, and focus on planning where to camp.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Breese RV rental?
Plans change, and RVezy makes that easy. Every booking is backed by the standard RVezy cancellation policy (not set by individual hosts), which includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates without stress. Refund eligibility after that depends on factors like how far out your trip is and the timing of your cancellation. The Clinton County area can occasionally see spring storms or summer flooding around the Kaskaskia River, and RVezy support is available before, during, and after your trip to help. Book with confidence, and reach out to support if anything shifts.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on my Breese RV trip?
Breese is a wonderfully dog-friendly basecamp. On RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter to instantly see every pet-friendly RV rental Breese has available, since many local hosts welcome dogs (some charge a small pet cleaning fee, listed right on the listing). Once you are rolling, Eldon Hazlet State Park and South Shore State Park on Carlyle Lake both allow leashed pets on trails and at most campsites, and the Dam West Recreation Area has open shoreline that is perfect for a tail-wagging stroll. Bring a long lead and a collapsible water bowl, Illinois summers get humid and your pup will thank you.
dnr.illinois.gov/parks/park.eldonhazlet.htmlCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Breese?
Yes, and it is the easiest way to start your trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery Breese travelers love, dropping the rig at Eldon Hazlet State Park, Dam West Campground, South Shore State Park, or even your driveway in Breese, Carlyle, or Trenton. The host levels the RV, hooks up water and electric, walks you through every system, and hands you the keys, with no towing or backing into a tight site required. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts offering this service, and message them for a delivery quote (most charge per mile from their location). It is a great choice for first-timers and families.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038719273-What-is-RV-deliveryHow do mileage limits work and how far can I drive from Breese?
Mileage is flexible, and Breese sits in a sweet spot for road trips. Each RVezy host sets their own daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 free miles per day) with extra miles available at a per-mile rate listed on the booking page. Some hosts even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal if you are heading further afield. From Breese, St. Louis is about 50 miles west, Springfield is roughly 90 miles north, Shawnee National Forest is about 150 miles south, and Indianapolis is around 240 miles east. Filter listings by mileage policy before you book and ask the host directly if you have a long route planned.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106494-Understanding-mileage-and-generator-usageWhere are the best campgrounds near Breese, IL?
You are spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Breese all sit on Carlyle Lake, Illinois' largest man-made lake, just 10 to 20 minutes from town. Eldon Hazlet State Park on the west shore has hundreds of campsites with electric hookups, showers, and lake views. Dam West Recreation Area, run by the US Army Corps of Engineers, offers sites with electric hookups and a marina nearby. South Shore State Park provides quieter wooded sites with electric service. For full-service amenities, Coles Creek Recreation Area on the east shore has a swim beach and electric hookup sites. All four are prime RV camping Breese options, and reservations are highly recommended on summer weekends.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/2475When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Breese, IL?
Late April through mid-October is prime time for a Breese RV trip. Spring (April to May) brings highs in the 60s to 70s F with wildflowers around Carlyle Lake, summer (June to August) runs warm and humid with highs in the mid-80s to low 90s and is peak boating and swimming season, and fall (September to October) cools beautifully into the 70s with stunning foliage along the Kaskaskia River. Winters dip into the 30s with occasional snow, so most campgrounds close from November through March. Insider tip: early September is the local sweet spot, the lake is still warm, crowds thin out after Labor Day, and rental rates often drop.
weather.gov/lsx/I've never rented an RV before, how does the pickup actually work?
First time renting an RV? You are in great hands. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, usually 30 to 60 minutes, covering how to operate the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane, awning, and dump valves. You will get their direct phone number, and many hosts in the Breese area also send a video reference guide. If you would rather skip the driving entirely, book a host who offers delivery and they will set everything up at your campsite. Arrive at pickup with your phone charged and take short videos of the walkthrough, it is the easiest way to remember which switch does what when you are parked lakeside at Carlyle.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Breese, IL booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. Your host is also a phone call or message away and usually knows their RV inside out, so a quick text can sort small questions fast. If something bigger happens, RVezy's support team is available around the clock to coordinate next steps. Cell service is strong throughout Clinton County and along I-64, but it can get patchy in the wooded sections of Eldon Hazlet State Park, so screenshot your host's number before you head out.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat are the best road trip destinations from Breese, IL?
Breese is perfectly positioned for a Midwest RV road trip. Popular routes include St. Louis and the Gateway Arch (about 50 miles, roughly 1 hour west on I-64), Shawnee National Forest with Garden of the Gods (about 150 miles, 2.5 hours south), Springfield and Lincoln's historic sites (about 90 miles, 1.5 hours north), Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri (about 130 miles southwest), and Nashville, TN (about 280 miles southeast for a long weekend). For a shorter loop, the Great River Road along the Mississippi from Alton to Grafton is just 60 miles away and stunning in fall. You can drive into neighboring states freely, just no Mexico trips on RVezy rentals due to insurance coverage limits.
nps.gov/jeff/index.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on my Breese RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest expense after the rental itself, but it's manageable. Class C motorhomes around Breese average 8 to 10 MPG, Class A coaches get 6 to 8 MPG, campervans (Class B) often hit 16 to 20 MPG, and pickup trucks towing travel trailers land around 10 to 12 MPG. Gas in Clinton County tends to run a few cents cheaper than the Illinois state average, with stations in Breese, Carlyle, and along I-64 at Aviston offering competitive prices. For a weekend at Carlyle Lake (under 100 miles total), budget $40 to $80 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Breese before heading to the lake, prices near the campgrounds tick up.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Breese?
For Carlyle Lake campgrounds, sooner is better. US Army Corps of Engineers sites (Dam West, Dam East, Coles Creek, McNair) book through Recreation.gov and open reservations 6 months in advance, with summer holiday weekends filling within hours of release. Illinois state park sites at Eldon Hazlet and South Shore book through Reserve America's Illinois DNR portal, also 6 months out. For a typical summer weekend, aim to book 8 to 12 weeks ahead, and for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or Labor Day, book the day reservations open. Insider tip: midweek sites are often wide open even in July, perfect if your schedule is flexible.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/2475What are driving conditions like in and around Breese, IL?
Driving an RV around Breese is genuinely easy, the terrain is flat farmland with wide rural roads and minimal traffic. I-64 runs just 6 miles south of Breese and connects you east to Indiana or west to St. Louis in under an hour, and US Route 50 passes right through town. There are no mountain grades, tunnels, or low clearances to worry about locally. Watch for farm equipment on county roads in spring and fall, and summer thunderstorms can pop up fast, so check the National Weather Service Lincoln/St. Louis forecast before driving. Local tip: avoid the Poplar Street Bridge approach into downtown St. Louis at rush hour if you're in a big rig, take I-255 around the city instead.
weather.gov/lsx/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Breese?
Carlyle Lake campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable RV stay. Most sites at Eldon Hazlet State Park, Dam West, and Coles Creek offer 30 or 50-amp electric hookups, with many full-hookup sites including water and sewer. Dump stations are available at all four major campgrounds (free for registered campers), and potable water fill stations are clearly marked near park entrances. You'll find hot showers, flush toilets, laundry facilities at the larger parks, a marina with fuel and supplies at Dam West, and swim beaches at Coles Creek and South Shore. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a 30-to-50 amp adapter, both cover almost every hookup configuration at the lake.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/2475What's actually inside the RVs available in Breese?
Expect a fully equipped home on wheels. Most RV rentals in Breese, IL come with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette, full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), bathroom with shower and toilet, roof AC, furnace, awning, and seatbelted seats for travel. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes often include a generator, TV, outdoor speakers, and a second sleeping area for kids. Campervans (Class B) trade space for nimbleness and are easier to park around Carlyle Lake's smaller back-in sites. Many hosts also include camp chairs, a starter kit of dishes, and bedding. Check the listing's amenities list, or message the host to confirm extras like a Wi-Fi hotspot or bike rack.
enjoyillinois.com/plan-your-trip/places-to-stay/camping-and-rv-parks-in-illinois/What add-ons can I get with my Breese RV rental?
You can customize your trip with helpful extras. Common RVezy add-ons in the Breese area include delivery and setup (often $2 to $4 per mile from the host), generator use (around $3 to $5 per hour for Class A coaches), camping chairs and tables (free to $25 per trip), linens and kitchen kits ($25 to $75), bike racks, and portable grills. Pickup is usually 1 to 3 PM and dropoff by 11 AM, though hosts often flex if asked early. Mileage policies vary by listing, so check the daily allowance before booking. Pro tip: ask your host about a propane top-off and pre-stocked fresh water tank, two small touches that make day one of your trip smoother.
enjoyillinois.com/plan-your-trip/places-to-stay/camping-and-rv-parks-in-illinois/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, and your trip total (rental, protection plan, fees, and any add-ons) is shown clearly before you confirm. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before pickup and released after dropoff once the host confirms everything is in good shape. To avoid hiccups, take a quick walkaround video at pickup and dropoff, return the RV at the agreed fuel and tank levels, and stay within the mileage allowance, or pay the per-mile rate listed. Easy in, easy out.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I take my Breese RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome on RVezy rentals. From Breese you can freely drive into Missouri (50 miles to St. Louis), Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and beyond, with your protection plan staying in effect across all 50 US states. Canada trips may be allowed with host approval and confirmation that insurance extends north of the border, so message the host directly from the listing before booking if that is your plan. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Popular multi-state routes from Breese include the Ozarks loop through Missouri and Arkansas, and the Bourbon Trail through Kentucky, both incredible RV road trips from Breese.
