What kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in College Park, Maryland?

Good news: for nearly every RV rental in College Park, your standard Class C non-commercial driver's license is all you need. The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) only requires a non-commercial Class A or B license for motorhomes with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) above 26,001 pounds, and almost every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer listed on RVezy falls well under that threshold. You'll need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and we verify your ID right in the app. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home auto club before you fly, and you're ready to roll.

Is my College Park RV rental protected if something goes wrong?

Yes, every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so your College Park RV trip starts with real peace of mind built in. During checkout, you choose from different protection plan tiers depending on the level of coverage you want, and the plan helps cover accidental damage to the RV while it is in your care. Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and every reservation includes a full money-back grace period right after you book, so you have breathing room to lock things in. Skip rush hour on I-495 (6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m.) and you will find the drive smooth. Pro tip: ask your host to record a short walkthrough video you can rewatch at the campsite.

Can I take my College Park RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, cross-state travel is welcomed on virtually all RV rentals in Maryland, and College Park is perfectly positioned for it. Popular multi-state loops include Virginia (Shenandoah, Williamsburg), Pennsylvania (Gettysburg, Lancaster County), West Virginia (Harpers Ferry, Seneca Rocks), and Delaware (Cape Henlopen). Travel into Canada is allowed on many listings as long as you let your host know in advance so they can confirm coverage extends across the border, just message them from the listing page before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and the protection plan do not cover trips south of the U.S. border. Pro tip: bring your passport for any Canadian leg.

What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?

Budget-wise, plan on realistic RV fuel economy: Class B campervans get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, Class A motorhomes around 7 to 10 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (typically 10 to 14 MPG combined). Maryland gas prices generally run a few cents above the national average, and you'll find competitive pump prices at Costco in Beltsville and the Wawa stations along Route 1. For a typical weekend RV road trip from College Park to Shenandoah and back (about 200 miles), budget roughly $60 to $100 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up before crossing into D.C. proper, where prices jump noticeably.

Cherry Hill Park (one of the largest private RV resorts in the D.C. area) and Washington DC/Capitol KOA generally recommend booking 2 to 4 months ahead for peak season. Maryland state parks like Patapsco Valley use the ParkReservations.Maryland.gov system on a rolling window up to 12 months out. Pro tip: set a calendar alert exactly 6 months before your target dates at Greenbelt Park and book right when slots release at 10 a.m. Eastern.

The B-W Parkway prohibits commercial vehicles and restricts larger RVs, so taller or heavier motorhomes should use I-95 or US-1 instead. Watch low clearances on parkway bridges if you do qualify to use it. Many streets near the University of Maryland are tight, which is why so many guests choose RV delivery in College Park. Pro tip: if you book Greenbelt, fill your fresh water tank at the entrance fill station on arrival and dump on your way out, an easy routine that makes the rustic experience feel seamless.
