Both he and his wife are lovely people and were incredibly helpful and thoughtful throughout the whole experience from booking through to return. I would highly recommend.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Glenarden, MD

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Glenarden, MD?

RV rental in Glenarden typically runs about $95 to $225 per night for travel trailers, $150 to $275 for Class C motorhomes, and $200 to $400 for larger Class A coaches, with prices easing in late fall and winter when DC tourism slows. You can save by booking midweek, choosing a host with unlimited mileage, or filtering for Instant Book listings that often reflect competitive rates. Many hosts near Glenarden also bundle linens, camp chairs, and kitchen kits at no extra charge. Pro tip: avoid cherry blossom peak in late March and the Fourth of July week if you want a cheap RV rental in Glenarden, since pricing spikes across the DC area. Booking 6 to 8 weeks ahead usually locks in the best rate.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Glenarden?

Good news: for almost every RV you'll rent in Glenarden, your regular Class C driver's license is all you need. Maryland's Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) only requires a non-commercial Class B license if your motorhome exceeds 26,001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), which applies to a small handful of the largest Class A coaches. Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels on RVezy all fall well under that limit. You'll need to be 25 or older and verify your ID through the RVezy platform during booking. Out-of-state and Canadian licenses are honored under reciprocity, so visitors driving in for a DC trip are good to go.

What protection comes with my RV rental in Glenarden?

The protection plan covers most damage to the vehicle during your trip, giving you serious peace of mind. During checkout you choose your coverage level (this is set by RVezy, not the host), so you can match the plan to how adventurous your route is. Whether you are driving 10 miles to Greenbelt Park or 200 miles to the Eastern Shore, you have backup. Pro tip: pick the higher tier if it is your first time renting an RV, the lower deductible is worth the small bump in price.

What happens if I need to cancel my Glenarden RV rental?

You have flexibility. RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy for every booking, and it includes a grace period right after you book where you can get a full refund as long as your trip is still a reasonable distance out. After that, refund amounts step down the closer you get to pickup, and there are protections built in for things like natural disasters, which matter in the mid-Atlantic during summer storm season. Because the policy depends on timing and circumstances, review the full details on the RVezy Help Center before you book. Pro tip: book sooner rather than later, prime Glenarden dates around DC events fill up fast and locking in early gives you the most room to adjust.

Where are the best campgrounds near Glenarden, MD?

You are spoiled for choice. Cherry Hill Park in College Park (about 10 miles from Glenarden) is the closest full-hookup resort to Washington, DC with pools, a splash pad, and shuttle service to the Metro. Cedarville State Forest in Brandywine (about 30 miles south) has electric sites in a quiet pine forest with a seasonal camping schedule. Patuxent River Park and Duncan's Family Campground near Lothian round out great Prince George's County options. Pro tip: Greenbelt's loops accommodate many mid-size RVs and rarely sell out midweek, but call ahead to confirm size limits for your rig.

When is the best time of year for a Glenarden RV trip?

Mid-April through early June and mid-September through late October are the sweet spots for RV camping in Glenarden. Spring brings 65 to 78 degree days perfect for cherry blossom season in DC, while fall delivers crisp air, fewer mosquitoes, and brilliant foliage in the surrounding parks. Summers run hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so you will want a rig with strong air conditioning. Winters are chilly, with January lows around 26 degrees, and many private campgrounds stay open year-round. Pro tip: book a shoulder-season Glenarden RV trip for the lowest rates and the most enjoyable weather, October weekends in particular are gorgeous.

I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay?

You will be in great shape. First time renting an RV is the most common scenario on RVezy, and Glenarden hosts are pros at walking new renters through everything. At pickup (or delivery), your host gives a hands-on orientation covering the generator, slide-outs, propane, water hookups, dump procedure, and driving tips for the Capital Beltway. You can message them anytime during your trip with questions, and RVezy support is available as backup. For your first drive, stick to Class B campervans or smaller Class C motorhomes (22 to 25 feet), they handle like a big van. Pro tip: practice in a quiet, large parking lot on a non-event day before heading to the highway.

What if something breaks down during my trip?

Take a breath, you are covered. Every booking on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on the Capital Beltway or a dead battery at Assateague is one phone call away from help. The roadside team handles towing, jump-starts, tire changes, lockouts, and fuel delivery across the US and Canada. Your host is also a great first contact for quirks specific to their rig, most respond within minutes. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number in your phone before pickup, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate so you can share info quickly if you ever need to call in.

What are the best RV road trips from Glenarden?

An RV road trip from Glenarden opens up incredible mid-Atlantic territory. Head east about 140 miles to Assateague Island National Seashore for wild ponies and beachfront camping, or southeast to St. Mary's City for Chesapeake Bay seafood and history. Drive west about 110 miles to Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive for fall foliage, or north about 90 miles to Gettysburg National Military Park. Crossing into Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, or West Virginia is fully allowed on your RVezy rental. Travel to Mexico is not permitted due to insurance limits, and cross-border trips to Canada require advance approval from your host. Pro tip: the Eastern Shore via the Chesapeake Bay Bridge makes for an unforgettable 3-day loop.
nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/driving-tours.htm

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for?

Plan smart and you'll keep costs in check. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 mpg, and big Class A coaches run 6 to 10 mpg. Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle but usually drop its mileage by 30 to 40 percent. Regular unleaded around Glenarden runs roughly $3.30 to $3.70 per gallon, with diesel slightly higher; Costco in Beltsville and Sam's Club in Bowie are reliably cheaper than Beltway exits. A weekend run to Ocean City and back in a Class C costs about $80 to $110 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up before crossing into DC or going east on Route 50, prices jump near tourist zones.

How far in advance should I book a campground?

For the most popular spots near Glenarden, book early. Greenbelt Park opens reservations on Recreation.gov and fills quickly for spring weekends and the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Maryland state parks like Cedarville and Patapsco use parkreservations.maryland.gov and also open well in advance, with two-night minimums Memorial Day through Labor Day. Cherry Hill Park in College Park books up 3 to 6 months in advance for summer. For shoulder-season midweek trips, a week or two of lead time is usually fine. Pro tip: if your target campground is sold out, set up a free cancellation alert through services like Campnab, sites open up constantly as plans change.

What's driving like around Glenarden and the DC area?

Honest truth: the Capital Beltway (I-495) is busy, but it is totally manageable in an RV if you plan smart. Avoid rush hour (roughly 6 to 10 am and 3 to 7 pm) and you will cruise. Stick to the right two lanes, watch for low bridge clearances on routes through DC proper (the Whitehurst Freeway and some downtown underpasses), and avoid narrow side streets in Georgetown or Capitol Hill. Terrain is rolling and easy. Pro tip: skip driving the RV into DC entirely, park at Cherry Hill or Greenbelt and hop the Metro, the New Carrollton Station is just a few miles from Glenarden and gets you to the National Mall quickly.
roads.maryland.gov/Index.aspx

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Glenarden?

You'll find a strong mix. Cherry Hill Park has full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), two pools, laundry, Wi-Fi, and a cafe. Greenbelt Park is primitive (no hookups) but has flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, and potable water fill. Cedarville State Forest's inner loop offers 30-amp electric with a central bathhouse and dump station. For finding where to park an RV in Glenarden between trips, Cherry Hill offers overnight transient parking. Most Maryland state parks have a $5 dump-and-fill fee for non-campers. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving Cherry Hill since Greenbelt's spigots are a short walk from sites and not at each pad.
dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/pages/southern/cedarville/camping.aspx

What's actually inside the RVs I can rent in Glenarden?

Expect a real home on wheels. Most Glenarden listings (Class C motorhome rental Glenarden and travel trailers in particular) sleep 4 to 8 with a queen bed, convertible dinette, and bunk or cab-over options. You'll get a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, and sink; a wet or dry bathroom with toilet and shower; air conditioning; furnace; and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor speakers, awning, and onboard generator. Wi-Fi varies, some hosts include a mobile hotspot, others recommend tethering to your phone. Pro tip: check the listing photos for solar panels and an inverter if you're planning to boondock at Cedarville's primitive sites, that combo means you can skip the generator at quiet hours.
nps.gov/gree/planyourvisit/campground.htm

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts in Glenarden offer popular extras like generator hours, propane refills, bike racks, kayak racks, camp chairs, outdoor grills, and full linen/kitchen kits, typically $10 to $50 each. Some include a Starlink or Wi-Fi hotspot for around $15 a night. Mileage policies range from 100 free miles per night to fully unlimited, with overage at roughly $0.30 to $0.45 a mile. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Prince George's, Anne Arundel, or Montgomery County; many offer delivery within 50 miles for a per-mile fee. Pro tip: ask about the generator-hour package upfront, if you're tailgating at FedEx Field or boondocking, those hours can add up quickly, and bundled rates beat paying per hour.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

It is straightforward and secure. You pay the full rental amount through RVezy at booking using a credit or debit card, with no cash ever changing hands with the host. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, not charged, and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkaround video at pickup and drop-off with the host present, and return the rig with the agreed fuel and waste-tank levels. Pro tip: use a credit card with travel protection, you will get extra coverage on top of RVezy's already-included protection plan.
