2021 Grand Design Travel Trailer
We had a great rental experience with Jared & this RV. Trailer was clean & well equipped. We had no issues at all on our trip, but I was confident I was going to be able to get a hold of our host if we had any questions or concerns. Would definitely trust to rent from him again!

I have been a tent camper for 60 years so was very nervous about renting a camper. I neednβt have worried. Stu answered every question promptly and thoroughly. And when I got to the site, everything was ready, so I could enjoy every possible moment with my family. I really appreciated the information shared about the operation of everything in the camper. All was in excellent shape, allowing for sound sleep and fun-filled days. Couldnβt have wished for a better camper experience. Thanks Stu & Lisa! β€οΈ

Excellent camper! Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Jared dropped off and set up the camper for us so it was ready when we got there, great communication throughout the rental. We had issues with the generator and Jared came out to help figure out the issue and try to get it started again. When he wasn't able to fix it he ran out and got a new generator so we wouldn't be stranded all weekend without one. Definitely recommend this rental to anyone looking for a stress free camping experience :-)

This was not just another camper rental. This was a true Air BnB experience. The trailer was immaculate and didn't miss a beat all weekend. The back patio area was amazing and trailer was spotless. Melissa and her husband crossed the t's and dotted all the i's on this rental from top to bottom: from communication, to drop off and pick up, everything was as smooth as could be. A great experience that we will definitely rent again one day!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Coloma, MI
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Coloma, MI?
RV rental in Coloma is one of the more affordable ways to experience Lake Michigan's west coast. Expect travel trailers to average around $125 to $175 per night and motorhomes around $200 to $275 per night, with many hosts offering weekly and monthly discounts. For a cheap RV rental in Coloma, look at smaller travel trailers or older Class C motorhomes booked midweek or in the shoulder months of May and September. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and compare totals including cleaning, generator and mileage fees before you commit. The Glad-Peach Festival weekend in August fills up fast, so booking 60 to 90 days out usually locks in the best price.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Coloma,MichiganDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Coloma, MI?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Coloma and drive almost any rig on RVezy. Michigan does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for non-commercial motorhomes and trailers, which covers nearly every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, travel trailer and fifth wheel on the platform. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified through the booking process, so there is no DMV visit required. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set to explore southwest Michigan's fruit belt.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental in Coloma covered by insurance and roadside assistance?
Every booking on RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included, so you can hit the road around Coloma with confidence. The protection plan covers damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your level of coverage during checkout. Roadside assistance is included with every plan, so help is one call away if you need a tow, a tire change or a jump start on your way to Van Buren State Park or Warren Dunes. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers carefully at booking, especially if you are taking a longer Lake Michigan RV trip with kids or pets along.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Coloma RV rental?
You can book with confidence because RVezy sets a standard cancellation policy for every rental in Coloma, not the individual host. There is a money-back grace period right after booking, and additional flexibility depending on how far ahead of your trip you cancel. If RVezy determines that severe weather or another covered event affects your trip, support can help you find the right path forward. Because the policy depends on timing and circumstances, review the current cancellation details on the RVezy Help Center before you book. Pro tip: if a lake-effect storm is in the forecast for your travel window, contact RVezy support early so they can help.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I find a pet-friendly RV rental in Coloma, MI?
Absolutely, Coloma is a great place to bring the dog along. Plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Coloma, and you can find them quickly using the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy. Once you are here, your pup can splash in Lake Michigan at the Van Buren State Park dog beach (just north of the main swim area), wander the paved Van Buren Trail State Park spur into South Haven, or join you on the patio at Karma Vista Vineyards. Pets must stay on a 6-foot leash in Michigan state parks and are not allowed in the buoyed swim areas from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and any breed or size limits.
michigan.gov/dnr/places/state-parks/van-burenCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Coloma?
Yes, RV delivery in Coloma is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if it is your first time renting an RV. Many hosts will drop the RV right at your campsite at Coloma / St. Joseph KOA Holiday, Dune Lake Campground or Van Buren State Park, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. This is perfect if you are flying into South Bend International Airport (about 50 miles south) or do not want to drive a big rig your first time out. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts offering setup, and check the listing for any per-mile delivery fees beyond a set radius.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Coloma,MichiganHow do mileage policies work on a Coloma RV trip?
Most Coloma RV hosts include a set number of free miles per night (commonly 100 to 150) and charge a small per-mile fee beyond that, while some list with unlimited mileage for road trippers heading farther afield. That is plenty for short hops like Coloma to South Haven (about 20 miles north), Coloma to St. Joseph (about 15 miles southwest), or a day at Warren Dunes State Park (about 25 miles south). For a bigger Michigan RV trip up to Sleeping Bear Dunes or over to Mackinac, look specifically for an RV rental with unlimited mileage. Pro tip: estimate your full route before booking and ask the host for a custom mileage package if you are close to the cap.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Coloma,MichiganWhere are the best campgrounds near Coloma, MI?
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Coloma. Coloma / St. Joseph KOA Holiday on Paw Paw Lake Road offers full hookups, a pool and hot tub, and easy access to Lake Michigan beaches. Dune Lake Campground in nearby Coloma has wooded sites with lake access. Van Buren State Park, about 20 miles north in South Haven, offers modern sites with electric hookups and a long sandy Lake Michigan beach. Warren Dunes State Park to the south is another favorite with modern and rustic sites. For Michigan state park sites, book at MiDNRReservations.com up to 6 months in advance: Lake Michigan weekends sell out fast in July and August.
midnrreservations.com/When is the best time of year for a Coloma RV trip?
The sweet spot for an RV trip from Coloma is late May through mid-October, when Lake Michigan beaches, fruit orchards and vineyards are all open. July and August are warmest, with highs typically in the low 80s F and warm lake water ideal for swimming at Van Buren State Park. September is a local favorite: warm days, cooler nights, fewer crowds and U-pick apples and grapes in full swing at Jollay Orchards and area farm markets. May and early June bring blossoms across the fruit belt and the lowest rental prices. Many area campgrounds run from mid-April through mid-October, so plan winter trips around hosts who offer year-round rigs.
weather.gov/grr/I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting in Coloma?
You will do great, and Coloma is an easy place to learn. Every RVezy host gives a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, slide-outs, tanks, propane and hookups before you ever turn the key. For first-time renters, the roads around Coloma are forgiving: I-94 and I-196 are wide and well marked, and Red Arrow Highway hugs the Lake Michigan shoreline at a relaxed pace. Start small with a Class C motorhome or travel trailer rather than a 35-foot Class A. Pro tip: book a host who offers delivery and setup at the Coloma / St. Joseph KOA so your very first night is parked, leveled and ready, no driving required.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Coloma,MichiganWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance with the protection plan, so a flat tire on I-94, a dead battery at a Lake Michigan campground or an awning issue at Dune Lake is one phone call away from help. Your host is also reachable through the RVezy messaging app for quick troubleshooting on systems like the water pump or furnace, and RVezy customer support is available before, during and after your trip. Pro tip: snap photos at pickup of the tire pressures, propane gauge and generator hours so any issue can be reported quickly and resolved without delay.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are good road trip destinations from Coloma?
Coloma sits on I-94 in the middle of Michigan's fruit belt, which makes it an ideal launchpad for an RV road trip from Coloma. Popular routes include Warren Dunes State Park (about 25 miles south, towering Lake Michigan dunes), Saugatuck and Holland (about 50 to 65 miles north for tulip country and art galleries), Grand Rapids (about 90 miles northeast for breweries and museums), and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (about 200 miles north). Chicago is about 95 miles southwest via I-94 if you want a big-city detour. Travel into Canada is allowed by many hosts (confirm with the host before booking), but travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals.
nps.gov/slbe/index.htmWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for a Coloma RV rental?
Plan on roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon for a Class A motorhome, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, 18 to 22 MPG for a Class B campervan and 12 to 16 MPG for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. Michigan regular unleaded typically runs near the US average, with stations clustered along the I-94 Coloma and Watervliet exits. For a typical 200-mile weekend loop hitting South Haven, St. Joseph and back, budget around $80 to $120 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up near the Coloma exit before heading north, since prices tend to creep up the closer you get to resort towns like Saugatuck.
gasprices.aaa.com/?state=MIHow far in advance should I book a campground near Coloma?
For peak summer weekends along Lake Michigan, book your campsite as soon as the reservation window opens. Michigan state parks like Van Buren release sites 6 months ahead through MiDNRReservations.com, and prime Friday and Saturday nights in July and August often sell out within minutes. Private parks like Coloma / St. Joseph KOA Holiday and Dune Lake Campground accept reservations many months in advance. For shoulder season trips in May, September or October, 2 to 4 weeks of lead time is usually plenty. Pro tip: a Michigan Recreation Passport is required for state park vehicle entry, and it is much cheaper for Michigan residents than for non-residents, so check current rates on the DNR website.
midnrreservations.com/What are driving conditions like around Coloma?
Driving conditions around Coloma are friendly for motorhome rental in Coloma renters of every experience level. The terrain is gently rolling, the main routes (I-94, I-196 and US-31) are well maintained, and downtown Coloma streets are flat and easy to navigate. Lake-effect weather is the main thing to plan for: summer can bring sudden afternoon thunderstorms off Lake Michigan, and fall and winter trips may see fog or lake-effect snow squalls that drop visibility quickly. Always check MDOT's Mi Drive site before heading out. Pro tip: avoid rush hour on I-94 around Benton Harbor in the late afternoon, and watch for fruit trucks during harvest season on Red Arrow Highway.
mdotjboss.state.mi.us/MiDrive/mapWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Coloma?
Campgrounds for RV camping in Coloma run from full-service resorts to rustic state park sites. Coloma / St. Joseph KOA Holiday offers 30 and 50-amp electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, a pool, hot tub and propane refills on site. Van Buren State Park has electric hookups at its modern sites plus restrooms with hot showers, with a sanitation station near the campground entrance for dumping and fresh water fill. Dune Lake Campground provides full hookups for larger rigs. Pro tip: most Michigan state parks require the Recreation Passport for vehicle entry, and quiet hours typically run from late evening to early morning, which keeps things peaceful for families.
michigan.gov/dnr/places/state-parks/van-burenWhat features and equipment come with a Coloma RV rental?
Even a basic campervan rental in Coloma comes loaded with everything you need: a real bed, kitchen with fridge, stove and sink, dining area, and seatbelted seating for travel. Class C and Class A motorhomes typically add a full bathroom with shower and toilet, generator, roof AC, furnace, TV and sometimes outdoor speakers. Most Coloma hosts list bedding, kitchenware, camp chairs and outdoor mats as included or as low-cost add-ons. Wi-Fi varies, and cell service is generally strong along I-94 but can get spotty deeper in the dunes. Pro tip: review the listing's amenities checklist carefully and message the host about any must-haves like a coffee maker or kid-sized bikes.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Coloma,MichiganWhat popular add-ons and pickup options should I look for?
Coloma hosts offer a great range of add-ons that make a family RV trip in Coloma genuinely easy: linens and towel packages, kitchen kits, bike racks, kayak or paddleboard rentals, generator hours, propane refills and pet cleaning fees. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on, with many hosts delivering within a set radius of Coloma for a flat fee plus per-mile beyond. Pickup is usually at the host's home or directly at your campground if delivery is selected. Standard mileage allowances run 100 to 150 miles per night with extra miles typically priced at $0.30 to $0.45. Pro tip: bundle delivery, linens and a kitchen kit on your first trip: it is the closest thing to a turnkey vacation.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Coloma,MichiganHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Booking an RV rental in Coloma through RVezy is straightforward and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never cash or off-platform transfers, and your total includes the nightly rate, add-ons, taxes and the RVezy service fee. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment; the exact amount is shown on the listing and varies by RV value. As long as the RV is returned in the same condition with no traffic violations or damage, the hold is released after the trip. Pro tip: do a thorough video walkaround at pickup and dropoff to document the RV's condition and avoid any disputes.
