We had an amazing experience renting this camper! It was spotless, well-stocked, and exactly as described. The owners were incredibly friendly, responsive, and made the entire process easy from start to finish. Pickup and drop-off were seamless, and they took the time to answer all of our questions before we hit the road. The camper was comfortable, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a relaxing trip. It truly felt like a home away from home. We couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience and will definitely be renting from them again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a stress-free camping adventure!

Matt was incredible from start to finish. Replies almost immediately to all messages and questions from time of booking, leading up to the trip and during your trip. The RV was immaculate on the outside, the entire cabin, refrigerator, bathrooms, etc. And it came with everything we would need for the trip. Was our first time staying in an RV - Matt showed up promptly when he said he would (even earlier), set up everything for our stay and walked me through everything we needed to know to use and enjoy the RV for a week. I would highly recommend Matt to anyone and would certainly book with him again!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Rome, NY
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Rome, NY?
Renting an RV in Rome, NY is more affordable than you might think, especially compared to booking hotels for a family of four. On RVezy, towable trailers near Rome typically average around $125 to $175 per night, while motorhomes generally run about $200 to $275 per night, with many hosts offering weekly discounts. To find a cheap RV rental Rome NY travelers love, book on weekdays, travel in the shoulder season (May or September), and use the price filter on RVezy to sort by budget. Pro tip: pairing a mid-range trailer with a state-park campsite at Delta Lake keeps your total trip cost well below a comparable Finger Lakes hotel stay.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rome%2C%20New%20YorkDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Rome, NY?
Good news: a standard driver's license is all most renters need for an RV rental in Rome, NY. New York lets you drive any motorhome with a regular Class D license as long as the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is 26,000 pounds or less, which covers virtually every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer on RVezy. No Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for personal recreational use. You'll also need to be at least 25 years old to book on RVezy, and your ID is verified securely through the platform. That's it. Most first-time renters are surprised how little paperwork stands between them and their Erie Canal road trip.
dmv.ny.gov/driver-license/new-york-state-learner-permit-and-driver-license-class-descriptionsWhat protection comes with an RV rental in Rome, NY?
Every RV rental in Rome, NY booked on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road with real peace of mind. You choose from multiple protection plan levels at checkout (hosts do not set this), with coverage for physical damage to the RV during your trip. Combined with around-the-clock roadside help for issues like flat tires, jump-starts, lockouts, and towing, you are covered whether you are driving the Thruway, exploring Delta Lake, or parked near Fort Stanwix. Full plan details are on the RVezy insurance and protection page before you confirm.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if my plans change after I book an RV in Rome, NY?
Booking your Rome RV trip is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (not individual hosts). There is a money-back grace period right after you book, and refund eligibility after that depends on how far out your trip is. You will see the full cancellation policy on RVezy before you confirm the booking. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or provides travel credit. The bottom line: you can lock in a great rig for Honor America Days or Canalfest now and still have flexibility if life happens.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Rome, NY?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental Rome NY options are plentiful on RVezy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search and you will see rigs where dogs (and sometimes cats) are welcome, often with a small cleaning fee. Rome is a great dog destination: Delta Lake State Park allows leashed pets at campsites with proof of current rabies vaccination, and the paved Mohawk River Trail from Bellamy Harbor Park is perfect for morning walks. Fort Stanwix National Monument also welcomes leashed pets on the outdoor grounds. Pack a water bowl, vaccination records, and waste bags, and your pup is set for a Central New York adventure.
parks.ny.gov/visit/state-parks/delta-lake-state-park/details.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Rome, NY?
Yes, RV delivery Rome NY is one of the most popular options on RVezy and a game-changer for first-timers. Many hosts will drive the RV to Delta Lake State Park, Verona Beach State Park, Oneida Shores Park, or even your driveway, level it, hook up water and electric, and walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy and enter your destination to see hosts who serve your spot along with their delivery fees (usually based on round-trip mileage). Pro tip: delivery to Delta Lake (about 6 miles north of downtown Rome on Route 46) is a quick hop for most local hosts.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rome%2C%20New%20YorkHow far can I drive on an RV road trip from Rome, NY?
You have incredible range on an RV road trip from Rome, NY. Niagara Falls sits about 200 miles west on I-90 (roughly 3.5 hours), the Adirondacks' Old Forge is just 45 miles north on Route 28 (under an hour), Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame are about 55 miles south, the Finger Lakes around Seneca Lake are 90 miles west, and Lake Placid is 140 miles northeast. Most RVezy hosts list a daily mileage allowance (often 100 to 150 miles) with extra miles available for a small per-mile fee, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage. Confirm the mileage policy on the listing before you book to match your route.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rome%2C%20New%20YorkWhere are the best campgrounds near Rome, NY for RV camping?
You are spoiled for choice for RV camping Rome NY. Delta Lake State Park (8797 State Route 46, just 6 miles north of downtown) has over 100 sites with 30-amp electric, a sandy beach, and lake fishing for bass, pike, and perch. The Villages at Turning Stone RV Park in nearby Verona offers full hookups with 50-amp service, a heated pool, and is minutes from Turning Stone Resort. Oneida Shores Park in Brewerton offers RV camping near Oneida Lake. Sylvan Beach area campgrounds round out the local favorites. Book Delta Lake early on ReserveAmerica because it fills up fast for summer weekends.
parks.ny.gov/visit/state-parks/delta-lake-state-park/details.aspxWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Rome, NY?
Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for a Rome NY RV trip, with peak conditions from late June through August when daytime highs reach the mid-70s to low 80s and evenings cool nicely for campfires. Delta Lake State Park's beach is staffed with lifeguards from late June through Labor Day. September and early October bring spectacular Adirondack foothill foliage, fewer bugs, and lower campsite prices. Winters are snowy and cold (January averages in the 20s with significant lake-effect snow), so most renters stick to the warm-weather window, though a few hosts offer winter-ready rigs for ice fishing on Delta Lake or snowmobile trips.
weather.gov/bgm/I've never driven an RV before. Is renting one in Rome easy for first-timers?
First time renting an RV in Rome? You're going to be just fine. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup that covers driving, leveling, hookups, water and waste systems, the generator, and the propane setup, and you can message them anytime during your trip with questions. Rome itself is beginner-friendly: roads like Route 46 to Delta Lake, Route 49 toward Sylvan Beach, and Route 365 are flat, wide, and lightly trafficked compared to downstate. Start with a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer (under 25 feet) for easy maneuvering. Bonus: many hosts will deliver the RV directly to your campsite so you skip driving altogether.
nps.gov/fost/index.htmWhat happens if I have a problem with the RV during my trip?
Help is just a phone call away. Every RVezy booking in Rome includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, jump-starts, lockouts, and towing whether you are on I-90, Route 365 near Sylvan Beach, or a quiet road by the Rome Sand Plains. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip through the Help Center, and you can message your host directly through the app for quick questions about the rig itself. Save both contacts in your phone before you leave, then relax: thousands of trips run smoothly across Oneida County every season.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take an RV rental from Rome, NY across state lines or into Canada?
Crossing state lines is no problem at all. Your RVezy rental is covered for travel throughout the United States, so a Rome RV trip can easily roll west to Niagara Falls, south to the Poconos, or east to Vermont's Green Mountains without extra paperwork. Canada is a popular add-on too (Toronto is about 4.5 hours via the Peace Bridge, and Montreal is roughly 4 hours via the Northway), but you will need to message the host first to confirm they allow cross-border travel and that insurance extends. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Bring your passport and you are set.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Rome, NY RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable cost, but Rome is actually a budget-friendly home base. New York's average gas price hovers around $3.30 to $3.70 per gallon (slightly higher than the national average), and most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG), while smaller campervans manage 14 to 18 MPG. For a typical 3-day, 300-mile loop through Delta Lake, Sylvan Beach, and Cooperstown, plan on $90 to $150 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Rome or Utica before heading into the Adirondacks, where prices climb noticeably once you pass Old Forge.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Rome, NY?
Book early and you'll snag the spots everyone wants. Delta Lake State Park opens reservations up to 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica (1-800-456-2267), and waterfront sites on the peninsula sell out within minutes for July and August weekends. Aim to book by February or March for prime summer dates. Private parks like The Villages RV Park and Oneida Pines usually take reservations 3 to 6 months out and have more flexibility. Same-day reservations are allowed at NY State Parks until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival if anything opens up. Pro tip: midweek stays are far easier to book and often cheaper.
newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/delta-lake-state-park/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NY&parkId=56What are driving conditions like around Rome, NY?
Driving in and around Rome is refreshingly stress-free for RVers. The terrain is mostly flat to gently rolling (you're at about 450 feet elevation), and the main routes (I-90 Thruway, Route 365, Route 46, and Route 49) all have wide lanes and generous shoulders. Watch for two things: lake-effect snow squalls north of Rome between November and March, which can drop visibility fast off Lake Ontario, and seasonal deer activity at dawn and dusk on rural roads near Westernville and Taberg. Heading into the Adirondacks via Route 28 brings winding two-lanes, so drive in daylight your first time. Check 511NY before long drives for real-time road conditions.
511ny.org/What amenities will I find at campgrounds around Rome, NY?
Local campgrounds around Rome cover the full spectrum. Delta Lake State Park offers 30-amp electric at every site, a dump station, hot showers, flush toilets, a sandy swimming beach, and a concession stand. The Villages RV Park has 50-amp full hookups with water, sewer, and a heated pool. Most private parks include free Wi-Fi, laundry, and on-site stores. For dump stations and fresh water fills on the road, you'll find them at most KOAs along your route, plus the Flying J in Schenectady. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving the campground because in-town fill stations in Rome are limited.
parks.ny.gov/visit/state-parks/delta-lake-state-parkWhat's included inside a typical RV rental in Rome, NY?
Expect more comforts than you would guess. A typical motorhome rental Rome NY listing comes with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping for 4 to 8 people, air conditioning, propane furnace, hot water heater, and seatbelts for travel. Most rigs include a TV, and many hosts offer add-ons like generators, Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor grills, bikes, kayaks, camp chairs, and linen and kitchen kits. A campervan rental Rome NY trip will be more compact but still cozy with a bed, small kitchenette, and often a wet bath. Every listing page lists exact amenities, so you can match the RV to your trip style.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rome%2C%20New%20YorkWhat add-ons and options can I get with my Rome, NY RV rental?
Hosts in the Rome area offer all kinds of extras to customize your trip. Popular add-ons include generators, portable Wi-Fi hotspots, propane refills, bedding and towel packages, kitchen kits, outdoor patio mats, kayaks, bikes, and outdoor grills. Delivery and setup is the most-loved option for first-timers (great for Delta Lake State Park). Pickup and dropoff times typically run early afternoon for pickup and late morning for return, though hosts often flex with notice. Mileage policies vary, with 100 to 150 free miles per day being common; some hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer rentals.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rome%2C%20New%20YorkHow does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Rome, NY?
Payment is simple and secure, all through the RVezy platform (never directly to the host). When you book, you pay the rental cost, service fee, and any add-ons by credit card. A separate refundable security deposit is held during your trip to cover potential incidentals like minor damage, missing items, or excess mileage; the amount is shown on the listing before you book and is released after the host confirms a smooth return. To avoid any deposit issues: take time-stamped photos of the RV interior and exterior at pickup and dropoff, follow the host's fuel and tank-emptying instructions, and return the rig on time at the agreed location.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a local insider tip for an RV trip from Rome, NY?
Here is something locals love: time your Rome NY RV trip around Honor America Days (late July) or Canalfest at Bellamy Harbor Park for fireworks near Fort Stanwix, live music, and events along the Erie Canal where it was first dug in 1817. Park your RV at Delta Lake State Park (6 miles north) and drive into town for the festivities, or grab a craft beer at Copper City Brewing on West Dominick Street. Browse RVezy for hosts comfortable with event-area trips, and book your Delta Lake waterfront campsite by February for the best summer dates.
