This motorhome was just what we needed for our family reunion get together. We flew into Portland OR, and made our short drive to Wards place with excellent directions. Ward walked us through all the steps needed and included videos if you have any trouble with instructions. The Motorhome drives so easy, and that diesel engine has no trouble pulling up hills. Hookup was easy, the grill worked perfectly and the electric awning was so nice to have on the sunny days. Perfect size for 2 adults and a couple kids if you have them. Checkout was a breeze, UBER picked us up and made our flight no problem! Would rent again if available next time.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Depoe Bay, OR

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Depoe Bay, OR?

RV rental in Depoe Bay is more affordable than most people expect, especially when you compare it to oceanfront hotel rates along Highway 101. On RVezy, you'll generally find travel trailers starting around $90-$150 per night, Class C motorhomes in the $175-$275 range, and larger Class A rigs from $250-$400 per night. Because hosts set their own pricing, you can filter by your budget and even find cheap RV rental Depoe Bay options in the shoulder seasons. Pro tip: book a Sunday through Thursday trip in late September. The whales are still migrating, summer crowds have thinned, and weekday rates drop noticeably along the central Oregon coast.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Depoe Bay?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Oregon, including every Class A, Class B campervan, and Class C motorhome listed on RVezy. Oregon does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for personal RV use. To rent on RVezy you'll need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? What protection is included when I book an RV rental in Depoe Bay?

Every RV rental in Depoe Bay booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right in, so you can focus on whale watching instead of worst-case scenarios. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the vehicle, giving you real peace of mind on twisty stretches of Highway 101 or in tight state-park sites. What if I need to cancel my Depoe Bay RV rental?

Booking with confidence is easy because RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy across the platform. If life happens, a storm closes Highway 101, a family member gets sick, or plans simply change, RVezy's customer support team helps you sort out your options based on how far out your trip is. You'll see the full cancellation terms during checkout in your booking summary. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or offers credits so you're protected. Pro tip: Oregon coast weather is unpredictable, so booking earlier gives you the most flexibility if you need to adjust.

Can I bring my dog on a Depoe Bay RV trip?

Absolutely, the central Oregon coast is one of the most dog-loving stretches of coastline in the country, and pet-friendly RV rental Depoe Bay options are easy to spot on RVezy. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter when searching, and message the host to confirm any pet fee or size limits. Once you're here, your pup can romp on the leash-friendly beaches at Fogarty Creek State Recreation Area and Boiler Bay State Scenic Viewpoint, both minutes from town. Devil's Lake State Recreation Area in nearby Lincoln City also welcomes leashed dogs throughout the campground. Bring a towel: that Pacific surf is chilly and irresistible.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Depoe Bay?

Yes, RV delivery Depoe Bay is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV. Pro tip: delivery is gold when you're towing kids, dogs, and a kayak from Portland and don't want to learn backing-in on a busy Friday.

Beverly Beach State Park, 15 minutes south near Newport, sits along Spencer Creek with a tunnel walk to the sand. Fogarty Creek RV Park and Thousand Trails Whalers Rest round out the top picks. When is the best time of year for an RV trip to Depoe Bay?

July through September is the sweet spot for a Depoe Bay RV trip, with high temperatures in the mid-60s to low 70s°F (about 18-22°C), drier skies, and the lowest rainfall of the year (July averages under an inch). Late spring and early fall are quieter and still gorgeous, especially for gray whale watching, the resident pod hangs out year-round, with peak migrations in March and again in December. Winter brings dramatic storm watching at Boiler Bay, with highs around 48°F (9°C) and serious rain, so look for an RV with a strong furnace. Insider tip: September often delivers the warmest, clearest beach days of the entire year.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I actually know what I'm doing?

Yes, and you'll be surprised how quickly it clicks. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, leveling, water hookups, propane, and the dump station process. You can also message the host before booking with any question, no matter how basic. For a first time renting an RV in Depoe Bay, many travelers choose a Class C motorhome (drives like a big van) or book a host who delivers and sets up at your campsite. Pro tip: practice on a calmer route first, take the inland 18 from Salem rather than tackling Highway 101's cliffs and switchbacks on day one.
tripcheck.com/

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You're never on your own. Every motorhome rental Depoe Bay booking on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, lockouts, dead batteries, and towing. Your host is also just a message away through the RVezy app and usually knows the quirks of their specific rig better than anyone. For non-emergency questions, RVezy's support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Local tip: cell service can drop in pockets along Highway 101 between Otter Rock and Yachats, so screenshot your reservation, host contact, and roadside number before you leave town.

Can I take my Depoe Bay RV rental into Washington or California?

Yes, interstate trips are common with a campervan rental Depoe Bay or any RVezy motorhome, and your protection coverage applies throughout the United States. Many guests build a Pacific Coast loop heading north to Astoria and the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington, or south through the redwoods into Crescent City, California. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Cross-border trips into Canada may be allowed depending on the host, so message them before booking. Pro tip: Highway 101 from Depoe Bay to Cannon Beach is one of the most scenic 90-mile stretches in the country.

What kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and what does gas cost near Depoe Bay?

Plan on roughly 8-10 mpg for a Class A, 10-14 mpg for a Class C, 15-20 mpg for a Class B campervan, and 12-18 mpg for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. Oregon gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, and on the coast you'll usually pay a few cents more, expect around $4.00-$4.50 per gallon in the Depoe Bay and Lincoln City area. Fun local quirk: Oregon used to ban self-serve at most stations, but as of 2023 you can pump your own gas statewide. Fill up in Lincoln City or Newport, where prices tend to beat the smaller stations right in Depoe Bay.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Depoe Bay?

For summer weekends, book your campsite the moment you book your RV, ideally 4-6 months out. Oregon State Parks like Beverly Beach and Devil's Lake open reservations up to 6 months in advance through the Oregon State Parks reservation system, and the best oceanfront and full-hookup sites at Sea and Sand RV Park get snapped up fast. Shoulder season (April-May, late September-October) is much easier and you can often book 2-4 weeks out. Pro tip: if you strike out on a Saturday night, grab a Sunday-through-Wednesday booking instead. The coast empties out midweek, and you'll have Whale Cove practically to yourself at sunset.

What's it like driving an RV on Highway 101 around Depoe Bay?

Highway 101 through Depoe Bay is iconic and totally doable in an RV, just slower and more scenic than you might expect. The road narrows through town (Depoe Bay claims the world's smallest navigable harbor) and includes curves and short bridges like the Ben Jones Bridge at Rocky Creek. Most rigs under 30 feet handle it easily; longer Class A coaches should take the curves at posted speeds and use pullouts to let traffic pass. Watch for fog, sudden coastal wind gusts at Cape Foulweather, and elk near Beverly Beach at dusk. Insider tip: check TripCheck.com before driving for live cameras and any 101 closures from landslides or storms.

What hookups and amenities should I expect at Depoe Bay campgrounds?

Most established RV parks near Depoe Bay offer full hookups (30 or 50-amp electric, water, and sewer) plus Wi-Fi, hot showers, and laundry. Sea and Sand RV Park, Fogarty Creek RV Park, and Thousand Trails Whalers Rest all have full-service sites. Oregon State Park campgrounds like Beverly Beach have full and partial hookup loops plus a centralized dump station ($10 fee at Beverly Beach as of 2026). For fresh water, every full-hookup site has a spigot at your pad; otherwise, fill at the campground entry. Pro tip: cell signal is spotty on the coast, so park Wi-Fi (or a signal booster) is your best bet for staying connected.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=park.profile&parkId=119

What's inside a typical Depoe Bay RV rental?

Even modest rigs come surprisingly well-equipped. Most RVezy listings include a queen or king bed, a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink and cookware, a bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette seating with seatbelts, climate control (furnace and AC), and a TV. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes often add a generator, outdoor speakers, awning, and extra sleeping for 6-8. Wi-Fi varies, some rigs include a hotspot, others rely on campground or cell-based internet. Each RVezy listing spells out exactly what's included, so you can compare before you book. Pro tip: pack layers and a windbreaker, the Depoe Bay marine layer can drop temps 15°F (8°C) in an evening.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=v.page&id=89

What add-ons and pickup options can I expect when I rent an RV in Depoe Bay?

Hosts on RVezy offer all kinds of add-ons that make your RV rental Oregon trip easier: camping chairs and tables, bedding and towel packages, kitchen kits, generators, bikes, kayaks, propane fire pits, and pet bundles. Pickup is usually at the host's location in or near Depoe Bay, Lincoln City, or Newport, though many hosts offer delivery to a campground for a flat fee. Mileage policies vary, some include 100-150 miles per day, others offer unlimited, so check the listing details. Pro tip: a portable propane fire pit is a smart add-on because many central Oregon coast campgrounds restrict wood fires due to wind and wildfire risk.
oregon.gov/odf/fire/pages/restrictions.aspx

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple: when you book, RVezy charges your credit or debit card through the platform, you never pay the host directly in cash. A refundable security deposit hold is placed on your card before pickup, separate from your booking payment, to cover anything outside the protection plan (think excessive cleaning, missing items, or extra mileage). The hold is released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape, usually within a few days of drop-off. Pro tip: do a quick walkaround video with the host at both pickup and drop-off. It's the simplest way to avoid disputes and keeps your full deposit coming back to you fast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Can I rent an RV in Depoe Bay in winter, and is it worth it?

Absolutely, and storm watching season is a hidden gem for adventurous travelers. Many RVezy hosts in Oregon keep their rigs available year-round, and a winter RV camping Depoe Bay trip means dramatic surf at Boiler Bay, fewer crowds, and migrating gray whales heading south in December and January. Daytime highs sit around 48-52°F (9-11°C) with frequent rain, so filter for RVs with strong propane furnaces, heated holding tanks, and a built-in generator in case of power outages. Most coastal RV parks stay open all winter with full hookups. Pro tip: book a site with shore power (30/50-amp) so you can run a small space heater alongside the furnace and stay toasty during a Pacific storm.
