RV & camper rentals in Prosperity, SC

RV rental in Prosperity is one of the most affordable ways to explore Lake Murray country. Most travel trailers and pop-ups in the Prosperity area rent for around $90 to $175 per night, Class C motorhomes typically range $185 to $295 per night, and larger Class A motorhomes run $250 to $400 per night. You'll save the most by booking mid-week, traveling in the shoulder months of April or October, and choosing a towable trailer with delivery so you skip the fuel costs of driving the rig yourself. Pro tip: filter for hosts offering weekly discounts, since many Lake Murray owners offer 10 to 20 percent off bookings of 5 nights or more.

Good news: for almost every RV rental in Prosperity, your regular Class D driver's license is all you need. South Carolina only requires a Class E or Class F non-commercial license if the motorhome has a gross vehicle weight over 26,000 pounds, which is well above what you'll find in typical Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels on RVezy. You'll need to be at least 25 years old, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit and you're ready to roll toward Lake Murray.

Yes, every RV rental booked through RVezy in Prosperity automatically includes a protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Highway 76 toward Lake Murray with real peace of mind. The renter protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level (not the host) during checkout. That means you can pick the tier that matches your comfort level, whether it's a quick weekend at Dreher Island or a two-week motorhome rental Prosperity loop through the Blue Ridge. Pro tip: review the coverage options carefully at booking so you understand your deductible before pickup.

Booking your Prosperity RV trip is low-risk because RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy for every reservation. There's a money-back grace period right after you book, and additional refund options apply based on how far in advance you cancel. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy issues a refund or travel credit so your plans stay protected. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best Prosperity rigs for summer weekends, knowing you have a clear cancellation window if plans shift.

Absolutely, plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental Prosperity options, and Lake Murray is one of the most dog-loving spots in the Midlands. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see rigs that welcome your pup, and message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee or size guidance. Once you arrive, you'll love that Dreher Island State Park has a leashed-pet policy on most trails and shoreline areas, and the Prosperity Town Park is a great quick stretch-the-legs stop. Pro tip: pack a microfiber towel, since the red Carolina clay around Lake Murray loves to ride home on muddy paws.

Yes, RV delivery in Prosperity is one of the most popular booking options, especially for first-time renters who don't want to drive a big rig down Highway 391 or over the Lake Murray Dam. Many hosts will tow the trailer or motorhome straight to your site at Dreher Island State Park, the Billy Dreher Island area on Lake Murray, or even a private lakefront rental, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location. Pro tip: filter by Delivery on RVezy and message two or three hosts to compare delivery quotes for your exact campsite.

Most Prosperity hosts include a generous daily mileage allowance (typically 100 to 150 miles per day), and yes, some listings do offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect if you're planning a longer South Carolina road trip. Additional miles beyond the included allowance usually cost between $0.30 and $0.50 per mile. For reference from Prosperity: Columbia is about 35 miles, Charleston is about 145 miles, Greenville is about 100 miles, and Asheville, NC is roughly 175 miles. Pro tip: estimate your total route mileage before booking and message hosts to ask about a custom mileage package if you're planning a bigger loop.

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Prosperity. Dreher Island State Park, just a short drive south on Lake Murray, is the local favorite with paved sites, full hookups, and waterfront views. Lake Murray's Columbia-side parks add more shoreline options. A little farther afield, Barnyard RV Park in Lexington offers easy access to Columbia, and Lake Wateree State Park, about 90 minutes east, is another standout for a second-night stop. Pro tip: Dreher Island sites book up months ahead for summer weekends, so reserve early through the South Carolina State Parks system.

The sweet spot for a Prosperity RV trip is mid-March through early June and again from mid-September through early November, when daytime highs run a pleasant 70 to 82 degrees and Lake Murray's humidity stays in check. July and August are hot and humid (highs in the low 90s with afternoon thunderstorms), but they're also peak swimming and tubing season, so plenty of folks still book lakefront sites. Winters are mild, with highs in the mid-50s, making December through February a great window for budget-friendly cheap RV rental Prosperity deals. Pro tip: aim for the second week of October to catch comfortable temps, lower rates, and the first hints of fall color along the Saluda River.

You've got this, and first time renting an RV in Prosperity is genuinely easier than most people expect. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the propane, water, electrical, slide-outs, leveling, and dump procedures, plus most are a text away during your trip. The roads around Prosperity are wide, rural, and low-traffic, which makes them perfect for getting comfortable behind the wheel before you head anywhere bigger. If you're still nervous, book a travel trailer with delivery so the host handles the driving and setup entirely. Pro tip: do a slow practice loop on Highway 76 toward Newberry before heading into Columbia or over the Lake Murray Dam.

You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking in Prosperity includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one call away for flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, or tow service whether you're parked at Dreher Island or stopped on I-26 near Newberry. Your host is also your direct lifeline for questions about the rig's systems, and RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone the moment you book, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and plate so you can share it quickly if you ever need service.

An RV road trip from Prosperity puts some of the Southeast's best destinations within easy reach. Head about 40 miles southeast to Columbia for Riverbanks Zoo and Congaree National Park. Drive roughly 100 miles northwest to Greenville and Table Rock State Park for Blue Ridge hiking, or push another 60 miles to Asheville, NC and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Charleston's beaches and history are about 145 miles south. Cross-state trips throughout the Southeast are typically fine, just confirm border or out-of-state travel with your host before you book a longer loop. Pro tip: the Cherohala Skyway through NC and TN is a stunning multi-day route from Prosperity.

Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost on any RV trip, but Prosperity is a great launch point because South Carolina consistently has some of the cheapest gas in the country. Expect to pay around $2.80 to $3.20 per gallon in Newberry County. Plan on roughly 8 to 10 MPG for a Class C motorhome, 6 to 8 MPG for a Class A, and 12 to 18 MPG for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. For a 300-mile weekend loop around Lake Murray and Columbia in a Class C, budget about $90 to $115 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at the Murphy USA or Walmart station in Newberry before heading out, since prices climb closer to Columbia and the interstate.

For the best sites, book early. Dreher Island State Park accepts reservations up to 13 months in advance through the South Carolina State Parks reservation system, and waterfront sites for Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends typically sell out 6 to 9 months ahead. For shoulder-season trips (April, May, September, October), 4 to 8 weeks of lead time is usually plenty. Private parks like Barnyard RV Park and Sedalia Campground are a bit more flexible but still fill up for summer weekends. Pro tip: if Dreher Island is fully booked, check for cancellations every Monday morning, since the 48-hour cancellation window often releases prime waterfront sites mid-week.

Driving an RV around Prosperity is refreshingly easy. The town sits at the intersection of Highway 76 and Highway 391, both wide, gently rolling rural roads with light traffic and excellent visibility. I-26 runs just south of town for quick access to Columbia (35 miles) or Spartanburg (90 miles), and the Lake Murray Dam Road is scenic but narrow, so go slow in a large Class A. Watch for afternoon thunderstorms in July and August, deer at dawn and dusk, and the occasional log truck on rural stretches. Pro tip: avoid I-26 eastbound into Columbia on weekday afternoons between 4 and 6 PM, when commuter traffic backs up near the Harbison exit.

Most campgrounds near Prosperity offer the full hookup experience. Dreher Island State Park has paved pads with 20/30/50-amp electric, water, sewer at many sites, hot showers, a dump station, potable water fill, a camp store, and boat ramps. Private parks like Sedalia and Barnyard typically add WiFi, laundry, swimming pools, and propane refill stations. If you need to dump or refill water on the way home, Dreher Island's dump station is open to registered campers, and the Flying J in Columbia has 24-hour RV services. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a surge protector, since older sites at state parks can have variable voltage during peak summer demand.

Prosperity rentals come well-equipped for life on Lake Murray. Expect comfortable sleeping for 2 to 8 (queen beds, bunks, and convertible dinettes depending on the rig), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, plus a bathroom with toilet and shower in most Class B, C, A, travel trailer, and fifth wheel listings. Air conditioning, a furnace, and a propane system come standard. Many hosts also include outdoor chairs, a grill, a backup camera, and a generator. WiFi and TVs vary by listing, so check the amenities tab. Pro tip: message your host before booking to confirm seatbelt count if you're traveling with kids, since Lake Murray adventures are way more fun when everyone rides safely.

Prosperity hosts make customizing your trip easy. Popular add-ons include linen and kitchen kits ($25 to $75), generator use ($3 to $5 per hour beyond included hours), portable grills, kayaks and paddleboards (perfect for Lake Murray), camping chairs, and outdoor rugs. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Prosperity, but as mentioned, delivery is widely available, with fees based on mileage to your campsite. Mileage policies and pet fees are set by each host and clearly listed on the listing page. Pro tip: bundle delivery, a linen kit, and a lake gear add-on when booking a campervan rental Prosperity getaway to Dreher Island, so you arrive with literally nothing to set up.

Payment is straightforward and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card (never directly to the host), and your booking total covers the nightly rate, service fee, protection plan, and any host add-ons you selected. A refundable security deposit is held separately before pickup to cover potential incidentals like minor damage, excess mileage, or a missed dump fee, and it's released after the host confirms a clean return. Deposit amounts vary by rig and are listed on each listing. Pro tip: do a quick video walkaround of the RV at pickup and drop-off and send it to your host through RVezy messages, so there's a clear record protecting your deposit.

Winter is honestly underrated for an RV rental in Prosperity. South Carolina's mild Midlands climate means December through February daytime highs usually hit the mid-50s with overnight lows in the low 30s, so most rentals stay available year-round and rates drop significantly compared to summer. Dreher Island State Park stays open all winter with quiet, uncrowded waterfront sites. Look for rigs with a working furnace, heated holding tanks (or skirting), and 30-amp shore power hookups so you stay cozy even on a frosty Lake Murray morning. Pro tip: pack a small ceramic space heater for shore-power nights to save propane, and you'll often score lakefront sites that are impossible to book in July.
