2022 Starcraft Travel Trailer
I had a wonderful experience renting the RV from Top Deal Rentals. He was always available and very attentive to our needs. Pick up and drop off went smoothly and he thoroughly went through all of the set up and breakdown of the RV. The RV is in good condition and we were very comfortable. I would absolutely rent from here again.

Super responsive on a short lead time booking! RV matched description perfectly and was fully ready for us to use - all I brought was food. Bedding, towels, toiletries, kitchen utensils and dishes - all in. We really enjoyed listening to music on the outdoor speakers! Propane heater worked awesome on a very cold (20F) Texas weekend. Charles was very gracious when I was running late for checkin, and was spot on time for checkout. Helped me check in and out through the app and couldn't have been friendlier and nicer! If there were 6 stars I'd give it!

We have rented this unit several times. This RV is so spacious and has all you need. Has cold air conditioning too. Our favorite part is it's not a gooseneck so no stepping up into the private master bedroom with a comfy king size bed! Charles is a great host and always communicates when needed.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Palacios, TX
How much does an RV rental in Palacios, TX typically cost?
RV rental in Palacios is one of the more affordable ways to enjoy the Texas Gulf Coast, with most nightly rates ranging from about $125 to $275 depending on the RV type. Travel trailers and smaller campervans tend to sit at the lower end, while Class C motorhomes and larger fifth wheels run higher. To find a cheap RV rental in Palacios, book midweek stays in late winter or early spring before the fishing crowds arrive, and filter by Instant Book to see hosts who price competitively. Pro tip: many Palacios hosts price their RVs to pair well with bayfront sites at local parks like Serendipity Bay RV Resort, where nightly hookups are often a great value.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Palacios%2C%20TexasWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Palacios, Texas?
Great news: a regular Class C Texas driver license (or equivalent from your home state or country) is all you need to rent an RV in Palacios, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety does not require a Commercial Driver License (CDL) or special RV endorsement for personal motorhomes or towable trailers used recreationally. On RVezy, approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and you will confirm your ID directly through the platform during checkout, which takes just a few minutes. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license, ideally with an International Driving Permit. Once that is set, you are cleared to pick up the keys and head straight for the bayfront.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs insurance included with my Palacios RV rental?
Yes, every RVezy booking in Palacios includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Highway 35 with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers damage to the RV during your trip and gives you financial protection if something unexpected happens. During checkout you will choose the protection tier that fits your trip, whether you are staying close to Tres Palacios Bay or driving inland to Matagorda County wildlife refuges. Hosts do not pick the coverage, you do, which keeps you in control. Pro tip: choose a higher protection tier if it is your first time renting an RV, it removes the last bit of worry.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy for an RV rental in Palacios?
Booking is genuinely low-risk. RVezy sets a clear cancellation policy that applies to every Palacios RV rental, and refunds depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. Hosts do not set or change these terms, RVezy does, so the rules are consistent across every listing. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or helps you rebook so your Gulf Coast trip stays on track. Hurricane season runs June through November along the Texas coast, so it is smart to watch the National Hurricane Center forecasts as your trip approaches. Pro tip: review the full cancellation policy in the RVezy Help Center before you book so you know exactly where you stand.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Palacios?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Palacios is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search and you will see hosts who welcome dogs and cats in their RVs. Palacios is a great destination for pups, with the bayfront seawall walkway perfect for sunset strolls and the long drivable beach down at nearby Matagorda Bay where leashed dogs are allowed. Local RV parks such as Serendipity Bay RV Resort are typically pet-friendly, so you can plan an entire trip around your four-legged co-pilot. Pro tip: pack a freshwater rinse jug, Gulf salt and sand can be rough on paws after a beach day.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/matagorda-bayCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Palacios?
Yes, RV delivery in Palacios is one of the most popular options, especially for first-timers who would rather skip the driving entirely. Many local hosts will deliver and set up the RV at campgrounds like Serendipity Bay RV Resort, Tres Palacios RV Park, or even a private property you have arranged. They will level the RV, connect water, sewer, and electric hookups, and walk you through every system before they leave. Just use the Delivery filter when searching, then message the host to confirm distance and any delivery fee. Pro tip: ask for a sunset arrival time so your first night ends with a Tres Palacios Bay sunset right outside the door.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Palacios%2C%20TexasHow far can I drive on a Palacios RV trip, and is unlimited mileage available?
You've got plenty of range to explore. Each Palacios RV rental lists its own daily mileage allowance on the listing page, typically 100 to 150 free miles per day, and many hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer adventures. From Palacios you can reach Matagorda Beach in about 30 minutes, Port Aransas in roughly 2.5 hours, Houston in about 2 hours, San Antonio in 3 hours, and Galveston Island in just under 2.5 hours. If you're planning a longer RV road trip from Palacios, message the host before booking to confirm mileage terms. Pro tip: pre-purchasing extra miles upfront is almost always cheaper than paying overage fees at return.
txdot.gov/Where are the best campgrounds near Palacios, TX?
Palacios has some genuinely great RV camping options right on the water. Serendipity Bay RV Resort at 1001 Main Street sits on 17 bayfront acres with a pool, fishing pier, and full hookups. Bayfront RV Park on 1st Street puts you within walking distance of the seawall. Tres Palacios RV Park on FM 521 is quiet, owner-operated, and minutes from a free boat ramp. For a beach-camping feel, head 30 minutes south to Matagorda Bay Nature Park, run by the Lower Colorado River Authority with full-hookup sites steps from the Gulf. Pro tip: bayfront sites at Serendipity book out fast for fall fishing tournaments, reserve at least 4 to 6 weeks ahead.
lcra.org/parks/matagorda-bay-nature-park/When is the best time of year for RV camping in Palacios?
Palacios shines from mid-October through April, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 65 to 78 degree range and Gulf humidity drops noticeably. This is the sweet spot for fishing, birding, and bayfront campfires. Spring (March to May) brings wildflowers and excellent redfish action. Summer is warm and humid with highs around 90 and overnight lows near 78, plus the chance of afternoon thunderstorms and a watchful eye on hurricane season from June through November. Winter is mild, in the low 60s during the day, making Palacios a popular snowbird destination for RV camping. Pro tip: book a November trip to catch the Texas Coast Birding Festival weekends, an experience unique to this stretch of the Central Flyway.
weather.gov/crp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I know how to use it?
You're in good hands. Every RVezy host in Palacios provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, showing you how the water, power, propane, slide-outs, awning, and waste tanks all work, so first time renting an RV feels more like a guided lesson than a guessing game. Many hosts even include printed cheat sheets and short how-to videos. If a question comes up at your campsite, you can message your host directly through the RVezy app, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: ask your host to demonstrate hooking up at a campground like Serendipity Bay during your walkthrough, that one demo will save you on your very first night.
nps.gov/subjects/camping/rv-camping.htmWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue during my Palacios RV trip?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking in Palacios includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you are parked at Tres Palacios Bay or driving Highway 35 toward Port Lavaca. Roadside assistance covers things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing to the nearest qualified service location. For mechanical questions, you can also message your host directly, they know their RV best. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number in your phone before you leave the pickup location, and note your nearest mile-marker so dispatch can find you fast on rural Matagorda County roads.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Palacios RV rental on a road trip across state lines or to Mexico?
Interstate adventures are absolutely on the table. Many Palacios hosts welcome cross-state RV road trips to Louisiana, Oklahoma, or beyond, just message the host through the listing page to confirm before you book. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because the protection plan and roadside assistance do not extend across that border. Popular RV road trip from Palacios routes include Highway 35 north toward Galveston (about 2.5 hours), inland to Hill Country and Fredericksburg (about 4 hours), and south along the coast toward Corpus Christi and South Padre Island. Pro tip: build in a stop at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge on the way south, you will spot whooping cranes from November through March.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Palacios RV trip?
Fuel costs in Palacios are reasonable compared to most of the country, with Matagorda County gas typically running a bit below the Texas state average. Class C motorhomes get around 8 to 10 miles per gallon, travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 mpg combined), and a campervan rental in Palacios can stretch to 18 to 20 mpg. For a 3 day local loop staying near Palacios and Matagorda Beach, plan on roughly $80 to $150 in fuel. Pro tip: fuel up in Bay City or El Campo rather than right in town, prices are often 10 to 20 cents per gallon lower along Highway 35 inland.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Palacios?
For the most popular Palacios campgrounds, book 4 to 8 weeks ahead, and 3 to 6 months ahead for holiday weekends and major fishing tournaments. Serendipity Bay RV Resort and Bayfront RV Park accept reservations directly on their websites or by phone. Matagorda Bay Nature Park, run by the Lower Colorado River Authority, takes reservations through their official site and fills up fast on weekends from October through April. For Texas state parks like Goose Island near Rockport, reservations open 5 months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system. Pro tip: weekday arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) almost always have last-minute availability, even in peak snowbird season.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/reservationsWhat are the local driving conditions like around Palacios?
Driving an RV around Palacios is refreshingly low-stress. Highway 35 is the main route in and out, a wide two-to-four-lane road with light traffic compared to Houston or San Antonio, and FM 521 along the coast is flat and easy. Watch for sudden Gulf storms during summer afternoons, occasional fog rolling off Tres Palacios Bay in early mornings, and high-wind advisories on the bay bridges. The town itself has wide streets, low traffic, and plenty of room to maneuver bigger rigs. Pro tip: if a tropical storm watch goes up during your trip, head inland to Bay City or El Campo for safer overnight parking, both are within 30 minutes and sit well above sea level.
drivetexas.org/What amenities will I find at Palacios campgrounds?
Palacios campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Most RV parks in town, including Serendipity Bay, Bayfront RV Park, and Tres Palacios RV Park, offer full hookups (water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electric), free Wi-Fi, laundry, and clean bathhouses. Serendipity Bay also has a swimming pool, fitness center, fishing pier, and fish cleaning station. For dump stations and freshwater fill-ups outside park check-ins, most parks allow day-use access for a small fee. Matagorda Bay Nature Park has a public dump station and potable water fill. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose, a 15-amp adapter, and a sewer hose support, the sandy soil at coastal sites can make leveling and sewer slope a little tricky.
lcra.org/parks/matagorda-bay-nature-park/What's inside a typical Palacios RV rental?
You'll feel right at home. A typical motorhome rental in Palacios comes fully equipped with a queen or king bed, additional sleeping for 4 to 8 people depending on size, a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, an enclosed bathroom with shower and toilet, climate-controlled air conditioning and heat, and seatbelted seating for travel. Most RVs also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and outdoor awning. Many hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, generators for off-grid use, and outdoor kitchens, which are perfect for cooking the redfish you just caught off the Palacios pier. Pro tip: check the listing photos for an outdoor shower, it's a game-changer after a day on Matagorda Beach.
nps.gov/subjects/camping/rv-camping.htmWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for Palacios RV rentals?
Palacios hosts offer plenty of useful extras to make your trip smoother. Common add-ons include kitchen kits, bedding and linen packages, camping chairs and tables, bike racks, generators, portable grills, fishing gear, and Wi-Fi hotspots, each priced by the host on the listing page. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Palacios, with delivery available to local campgrounds like Serendipity Bay or Matagorda Bay Nature Park for an added fee. Mileage policies and pet rules are also set per listing, so you can filter by what matters most. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen package on your first booking, it turns your arrival into a true vacation, no setup work required.
visitpalacios.org/How does payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental in Palacios?
Payment on RVezy is simple, secure, and handled entirely through the platform, never directly with the host. When you book your RV rental in Palacios, you will pay the rental cost, service fee, and any add-ons by credit card. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after a smooth return, separate from your booking payment. To avoid deposit issues, do a quick walk-around with photos at both pickup and dropoff, return the RV with the same fuel and propane levels, and empty the holding tanks if your host requires it. Pro tip: keep any dump-station receipt as proof of return condition, it makes return day quick and painless.
