What a fantastic experience for us first time RVers! Levi was so patient in explaining everything to us. He even made a special trip to help us out with something we didn't understand. The setup and pack up was easier than expected. The RV was just the right size for us. We look forward to doing this again!

2019 Other Class B
This was my first time renting a Class B, and Susan and Terry were welcoming of that fact and made it easy. It’s a very well done conversion with lots of room (and cost) saving ideas, and manageable (no frills) technology. The ride itself is comfortable. The benches fold into a big bed that runs length wise. I used a yoga mat and an opened sleeping bag (provided) to close the little gap in the center, worked perfectly. Great interior lighting, sound system, finishes, screens, blackout coverings, etc. A/C for the space is great. Great value, easy in and out, and free parking at pick-up. Definitely a positive first impression with Class B vans.

Renting from Magen and Corey was a wonderful experience! They are great with communication and answered every single question that I had in a very timely manner (and I had TONS of questions). The camper is absolutely massive, beautiful, and very clean. We had the absolute BEST time and will definitely be renting from Magen and Corey again!! ❤️❤️

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Wytheville, VA

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Wytheville, VA?

RV rental in Wytheville is one of the most affordable ways to explore Southwest Virginia, with motorhomes averaging around $200 per night and towable trailers closer to $120 per night on RVezy. You can stretch your budget further by booking midweek, traveling in the shoulder seasons of April-May or late September-October, and taking advantage of weekly or monthly discounts that many hosts offer (typically 10-20% off). For a cheap RV rental Wytheville families love, filter for travel trailers under $130 a night and pair it with a value-priced site at Wytheville KOA or Deer Trail Park. Pro tip: book early for the June Chautauqua Festival, when prices and demand both climb.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Wytheville, Virginia?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Wytheville, VA. Virginia does not require a special endorsement or commercial driver's license for personal RVs under 26,000 pounds, which covers essentially every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer you'll find on RVezy. You must be 25 or older to book, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the platform during checkout, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit. With I-77 and I-81 meeting right in town, you'll be on your way to Big Walker Lookout in minutes.

Is RV rental insurance included when I rent an RV in Wytheville?

Yes, every RV rental in Wytheville booked on RVezy includes a protection plan along with 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head into the Blue Ridge Mountains with real peace of mind. You choose your coverage level at checkout (Basic, Standard, or Premium), and the plan helps cover damage to the RV during your trip. It is not traditional auto insurance, but it provides meaningful financial protection on the way to New River Trail State Park or up the Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway. That means more time enjoying the mountains and less time worrying about what-ifs.

What if I need to cancel my Wytheville RV rental?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the individual host), and there is a money-back grace period built in right after you book. If your plans change shortly after reserving, you have a window to cancel and get refunded. Refunds for later cancellations depend on how close you are to your trip start date and any qualifying circumstances. If the host cancels, RVezy refunds you or provides credits so you can rebook. You can review the full policy in your RVezy account, and the support team is available before, during, and after your trip if anything comes up.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Wytheville?

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Wytheville options are plentiful on RVezy. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter when searching, and you'll see hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) on board. Wytheville is a wonderful base for traveling with pets: most local campgrounds, including Wytheville KOA Holiday and Deer Trail Park & Campground, are pet-friendly, and you can hike the leashed-dog-friendly New River Trail State Park, which parallels the New River for over 39 miles. Crystal Springs Recreation Area in the Jefferson National Forest is another tail-wagger favorite. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and ask about a fenced yard at pickup so your pup can stretch first.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Wytheville?

Yes, RV delivery Wytheville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts will drive the motorhome or trailer straight to your campsite at Wytheville KOA, Deer Trail Park, Fort Chiswell RV Park, or even a private property, then level it, hook up water, power, and sewer, and walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts who offer this service and their delivery radius (most cover at least a 25-30 mile zone around Wytheville). It's the easiest way to skip the learning curve and head straight to Skeeter's for a chili dog.

Where are the best campgrounds near Wytheville to park my RV?

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to where to park an RV in Wytheville. Top picks include Wytheville KOA Holiday (231 KOA Road), known for its pool with waterslide, six-lane bowling alley, and full hookups just off I-81; Deer Trail Park & Campground on Gullion Fork Road, a relaxed family-run spot with roomy sites and a seasonal pool; Fort Chiswell RV Park, a Good Sam favorite about 10 minutes east with peaceful farm views; and Lake Ridge RV Resort for a quieter lakeside vibe. For state-park lovers, New River Trail State Park's Millrace Campground at Foster Falls puts you right on the river. Book 2-3 months ahead for summer weekends, especially around the June Chautauqua Festival.

When is the best time of year for RV camping in Wytheville?

Wytheville sits at about 2,300 feet elevation in the Blue Ridge Mountains, which gives you a longer, milder camping season than most of Virginia. Late April through October is prime time, with summer highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s and cool evenings that drop into the 50s and 60s, perfect for campfires. June brings the famous Chautauqua Festival with a hot-air balloon glow, and October explodes with fall color along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Spring (April-May) and early fall (September-October) are the sweet spot for fewer bugs, lower rates, and uncrowded trails. Winter RV trips are doable too if your rental has heated tanks; just confirm year-round campgrounds like Fort Chiswell RV Park ahead of time.

I'm a first-time RV renter in Wytheville. Will I actually know how to use everything?

Yes, and you will be surprised how quickly it clicks. First time renting an RV is something RVezy hosts handle every week, and every booking starts with a hands-on walkthrough at pickup (or at delivery, if your host brings the RV to you). They will show you how to start the generator, dump tanks, level, use propane, operate awnings, and run the entertainment system, then leave you their phone number for questions. You can also message your host through the RVezy app before the trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is just a tap away. Wytheville's flat downtown grid and easy access from I-77 and I-81 make it a forgiving place to get comfortable behind the wheel before heading into the mountains.

What happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?

You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Wytheville booked through RVezy comes with 24/7 roadside assistance included with your protection plan, covering things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing if needed. One call gets help dispatched to your location, whether you are on I-81, deep on the Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway, or tucked into a site at New River Trail State Park. Your host is also a direct resource for quick fixes; most are responsive by text and know their rig inside and out. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's number in your phone before you leave, and note nearby exits in case you need a repair shop.

Can I take my Wytheville RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, and Wytheville is one of the best launchpads in Virginia for a multi-state RV road trip. From Wytheville you are within easy reach of West Virginia (New River Gorge National Park is about 2.5 hours), Tennessee (Bristol and the Great Smoky Mountains are 2 to 4 hours), North Carolina (Boone is under 2 hours, Asheville about 2.5), and Kentucky's Cumberland Gap (around 3 hours). Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and protection coverage, so message the host directly from the listing to confirm before booking. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals.

What kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and how should I budget for gas?

Plan smart and fuel is very manageable. Class B campervans get the best mileage at roughly 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 8-12 MPG, larger Class A motorhomes get 6-10 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (typically 10-14 MPG). Gas in the Wytheville area tends to run a bit cheaper than the national average thanks to Virginia's competitive Southwest market and the cluster of truck stops at the I-77/I-81 crossroads (Pilot, Love's, and Flying J are all minutes apart). For a typical 4-day Wytheville RV trip with a Class C covering 400 miles, budget around $150-$200 in fuel. Pro tip: top off in town before heading up Big Walker Mountain, where stations get sparse.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Wytheville?

For the smoothest trip, reserve campgrounds 2-3 months ahead for summer weekends and holidays, and 4-6 months ahead if you want a riverside site at Foster Falls in New River Trail State Park. Virginia State Parks take reservations through ReserveAmerica at reservevaparks.com up to 11 months out, while Wytheville KOA bookings go through koa.com and Fort Chiswell RV Park books directly. Midweek and shoulder-season trips (April, May, September) often have same-week availability. The June Chautauqua Festival and October leaf-peeping weekends sell out fastest, so lock those in early. Pro tip: book your RVezy rental first, then the campground, so you know your exact RV length and hookup needs when reserving your site.

What are the local driving conditions like around Wytheville?

Wytheville is one of the more RV-friendly places in the Blue Ridge thanks to two major interstates (I-77 and I-81) meeting right at town, with wide lanes, gentle grades through most of the area, and plenty of long pull-offs. Downtown streets are flat and easy to navigate. The fun begins when you climb the Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway on US-52 or head up to Mountain Lake, where you'll find curvy two-lane roads, switchbacks, and grades up to 7%, so take it slow and use lower gears descending. Watch for sudden mountain weather, especially fog at higher elevations and occasional winter ice. The Blue Ridge Parkway (no commercial vehicles, 45 MPH limit) is perfect for unhurried RV scenic driving.

What amenities can I expect at Wytheville-area campgrounds?

You'll find a full spectrum, from resort-style to rustic. Most established RV parks near Wytheville, including Wytheville KOA Holiday, Deer Trail Park, Fort Chiswell RV Park, and Lake Ridge RV Resort, offer full hookups (30/50-amp electric, water, sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, and dump stations. Wytheville KOA adds a pool with waterslide, six-lane bowling alley, and arcade, while Deer Trail has a seasonal pool and big game room. State-park sites at New River Trail typically have electric and water but no sewer, plus a shared dump station on-site. If you're boondocking in Jefferson National Forest, plan for zero hookups. Pro tip: most local campgrounds let day-trippers dump tanks for a small fee if you need a top-up.

Campervan rental Wytheville options (Class B) are smaller but include a bed, mini-kitchen, and often a cassette toilet, perfect for couples. How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure. When you book your RV rental in Wytheville, you pay through RVezy's secure platform using a credit or debit card; no cash changes hands with the host. A security deposit is pre-authorized on your card a few days before the trip and released back to you a few days after return, assuming no damage or extra charges (like overage mileage or generator hours). The deposit amount is shown at checkout and is separate from your booking payment. To keep things smooth, take date-stamped photos of the interior and exterior at pickup and dropoff, return the RV with the agreed-upon fuel and propane levels, and stay within your mileage allowance.
