Campgrounds and RV parks near Miller's Landing, BC

The immediate area is oriented around Howe Sound and Bowen Island's shoreline. Miller's Landing Beach is a small, rocky, off-leash dog beach with east-facing views, reached by a short gravel path. Locals use the cove to launch kayaks and paddleboards. Trails on Bowen Island lead to Mount Gardner and Mount Artaban, with viewpoints over Howe Sound and the Sunshine Coast. Up the Sea to Sky Highway, Porteau Cove is known for the tidal and inter-tidal marine life of its foreshore, with a scuba diving area developed with sunken ships and artificial reefs that have enhanced sub-tidal marine life. Further north, Stawamus Chief Park offers views of Howe Sound and the Squamish Valley from all three peaks, along with world-class rock climbing on its granite walls. From Capilano RV Park, families can reach Stanley Park, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, and Grouse Mountain within minutes.

The Sea to Sky corridor operates on a strong summer peak. Peak season at Porteau Cove is June through September, when the day-use beaches are busy and the campgrounds packed. April, May, September, and October have mild weather, but even these months are often crowded in this popular park. Weekends fill first, and waterfront sites go earliest. Winter operations vary by campground. Porteau Cove Provincial Park is open year-round with limited facilities and reduced fees in the winter. The campgrounds have full services, including hookups, flush toilets, and hot showers, from March to early November, with partial services in winter. Stawamus Chief has 15 shaded vehicle-accessible sites available on a first-come first-serve basis throughout the April to October camping season; outside these dates, the gate is locked and walk-in camping is available when the gate is locked. Capilano RV Park in North Vancouver stays open year-round for travellers who want city access in the shoulder and winter months. Snow at sea level is uncommon but does occur, and mountain passes on the way to Whistler can require winter tires.

Site character varies sharply by campground. Porteau Cove has 44 vehicle-accessible sites that are somewhat closely spaced, many of them waterfront, plus 16 walk-in campsites within five minutes of the parking lot, most small and ocean-front, with a limit of no more than 4 people per site. Adjacent train tracks are active and occasional noise disturbance may occur. Stawamus Chief is oriented to climbers and hikers. Drive-in sites are on the smaller side and not suitable for those traveling by large RV, and campfires are not permitted. Store and lock all food in the storage lockers located throughout the campground and in the cooking shelter. Capilano RV Park offers a full-service, urban experience with a children's playground and pool, recreation lounge, hot tub, laundry facilities, and picnic tables at each site. Sites are tighter than a rural resort but the location is central. Cell service is reliable across all sites listed here.
