Campgrounds and RV parks near Musqueam 2, BC

From a Metro Vancouver base, day trips fan out in every direction. Stanley Park, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Grouse Mountain, and Granville Island are all reachable within a short drive or transit ride from Capilano RV Park and Burnaby Cariboo RV Park and Campground Vancouver. Pacific Spirit Regional Park, adjacent to Musqueam lands, offers forested trails suitable for families. North on Highway 99, Porteau Cove Provincial Park has a rocky beach, two boat launches, a sunken-ship dive site, and grassy day-use picnic areas with views across Howe Sound. Squamish, about 20 km further north, adds hiking and the Sea to Sky Gondola. Ferry terminals at Horseshoe Bay and Tsawwassen open up Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands as multi-day extensions.

Peak camping season in the Lower Mainland runs from late spring through early fall. Weather is warmest and driest between June and August, and provincial-park sites on Howe Sound and along the Sea to Sky corridor book up quickly. Porteau Cove is open year-round, with full services from roughly March through early November and reduced services in winter; the campground is often full most nights during peak season. Shoulder months (April, May, September, and October) bring mild temperatures and thinner crowds, though weekends can still fill at popular parks. Rain increases sharply from October onward, and November through January are the wettest months in the region. Winter camping is permitted at Porteau Cove but services are limited, and portions of the campground may be inaccessible after snowfall. Private urban parks such as Capilano RV Park and Burnaby Cariboo RV Park and Campground Vancouver stay open through winter with full hookups and heated indoor amenities, making them the practical choice in the off-season.

Urban parks in Metro Vancouver are transit-oriented and family-focused. Capilano RV Park has fully serviced, gated sites, a playground, seasonal pool, hot tub, and laundry. Burnaby Cariboo RV Park and Campground Vancouver offers full hookups, paved pads with privacy hedges, an indoor heated pool and hot tub, fitness centre, games room, and a general store, roughly a ten-minute walk from SkyTrain. Porteau Cove is a different experience: 44 electrified vehicle sites and 16 walk-in sites, closely spaced, with a shower and flush-toilet building, sani-station, and an active BC Rail track skirting the park boundary that can produce occasional train noise. Beach fires are not permitted, and only biodegradable soaps are allowed to protect the septic system.
