Campgrounds and RV parks near Bishop, CA

Bishop sits in the Owens Valley on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, at roughly 4,100 feet, with Highway 395 running through town and Highway 168 climbing west into Bishop Creek Canyon. The town serves as the practical base for RV travel in the region: full-hookup parks operate at lower elevation in and around the valley, while a chain of US Forest Service campgrounds lines the canyon at progressively higher elevations toward North Lake, Lake Sabrina, and South Lake. For RV renters, the closest options include J Diamond Mobile Ranch and Keoughs Hot Springs and Campground in the valley, Creekside RV Park higher in Bishop Creek Canyon along the South Fork, Glacier Lodge to the south near Big Pine, and Crowley Lake Fish Camp Tackle to the north. Inyo National Forest manages the surrounding public lands and runs the bulk of the developed campgrounds in the canyons, with both reservable and first-come, first-served sites depending on the location.

Inyo National Forest campgrounds are booked through Recreation.gov. Standard individual campsites can be reserved up to six months in advance, and group sites up to twelve months in advance. Reservations at busier canyon campgrounds, including Bishop Park and Forks, are commonly required through the peak summer window. Outside that window, sites that stay open shift to first-come, first-served with self-registration at the campground. Some Forest Service campgrounds, such as Sabrina and North Lake, do not take reservations at all and run entirely on self-registration. Private RV parks in and near Bishop, including J Diamond Mobile Ranch, Keoughs Hot Springs and Campground, Creekside RV Park, Glacier Lodge, and Crowley Lake Fish Camp Tackle, are booked directly with each operator.
