Campgrounds and RV parks near Clearlake Oaks, CA

Clear Lake is the main draw, and most visitors center their days on the water. Bass fishing is the headline activity, with largemouth, catfish, and crappie all in play, and shoreline anglers do well from campground docks at The Oasis Campground and Lake Place Resort. Boat launches are common at the waterfront resorts, and kayaks and canoes work well in the protected canals and no-wake zones near Cole Creek. On land, the Redbud Trail and routes inside Clear Lake State Park offer oak-woodland hiking with lake views. Birdwatchers come for grebes, pelicans, ospreys, and bald eagles. Lake County wineries, the Cache Creek Wildlife Area, and Anderson Marsh State Historic Park round out a typical itinerary.

The Clearlake Oaks camping season is shaped by a Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. Peak demand runs from late spring through early fall, with bass tournaments and summer holidays driving the busiest weekends. Private waterfront campgrounds such as The Oasis Campground typically operate from spring into fall, with some sites closing during the rainy winter months. At Clear Lake State Park, Kelsey Creek Campground stays open year-round, while Lower Bayview and the other family campgrounds shift to a reservation-only window during the warmer months. Summers are reliably dry and hot, often above ninety degrees, so shaded sites and electric hookups for cooling are worth seeking out. Wildfire smoke can affect air quality in late summer, and visitors should check Cal Fire and AirNow before travel. Winter brings the bulk of the rain, occasional flooding along low-lying lakeshore roads, and quiet, low-rate stays for those who don't mind cool, damp weather.

Expect a mix of small private waterfront campgrounds and state park sites without hookups. Clear Lake State Park has flush toilets, pay showers, and a dump station, but no electric or water at the sites and a maximum RV length around thirty-five feet. Private parks such as The Oasis Campground and Lake Place Resort typically offer dry or partial hookups, bathhouses, and direct lake or canal frontage. Summer days are hot and dry, so plan for shade, water, and sun protection. Mosquitoes can be active near the marshy shorelines at dawn and dusk. Cell coverage is generally usable in town and patchy on the back roads. Bring firewood from local vendors to comply with invasive-pest rules, and store food securely to discourage raccoons.
