Campgrounds and RV parks near Geyserville, CA

Wine tasting drives most visits. Dozens of Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley wineries sit within a short drive of town, and the Geyserville Sculpture Trail along the main street is free to walk. Lake Sonoma, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers near Geyserville, offers boating and secluded vehicle and boat-in camping for fishing and boating enthusiasts. Anglers fish for large and smallmouth bass, catfish and sunfish, and visitors enjoy boating, fishing and exploring the area's extensive trail network, used by hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. Russian River access points support paddling and summer tubing. Healdsburg, ten minutes south, has a walkable plaza with restaurants, tasting rooms, and shops. Families staying at Cloverdale / Healdsburg KOA also get on-site amenities including a pool, a fishing pond, and paddle boats.

The area has a Mediterranean climate: cool, wet winters and hot, dry summers. Most rain falls between November and March, and August is the driest month with essentially no precipitation. Wildfire risk runs high from roughly June through October, and red flag warnings, campfire restrictions, and area closures are common during that window. The Bullfrog Pond campground is subject to fire closure during the summer months, and fire bans can go into effect at any time due to dry weather conditions. RV travelers should check fire-agency status and campground notices before booking late-summer and early-fall trips. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for RV travel. March through May brings mild temperatures, wildflowers, and green hills, while September through mid-November delivers warm days, cool nights, and the wine-country harvest. Summer is peak season; weekends fill quickly at private parks and at Lake Sonoma, and reservations should be made well in advance. Winter trips can be quiet, but expect rain, occasional river flooding along the Russian River corridor, and some seasonal access changes, including a removed summer bridge near the KOA that lengthens the winter drive in from Cloverdale.

Sites near Geyserville range from full-hookup RV pads with pools and laundry to primitive boat-in and backcountry spots with vault toilets and limited services. At Lake Sonoma, visitors should bring plenty of drinkable water and a dependable purifying filter for lake water, restrooms at boat-in sites are chemical vaults, and reservations are required. There is limited cell service in Austin Creek, so download maps before arrival. Austin Creek and Bullfrog Pond Campground are closed to vehicles over 20 feet in length or to pulled trailers of any size, so larger rigs should plan to stay elsewhere. Check current park status before booking, since both the Bullfrog Pond Campground and the primitive backcountry sites (Tom King, Manning Flat) have experienced closures. Bring drinking water for primitive sites, expect warm afternoons and cool nights in summer, and plan for yellow jackets, ticks, and poison oak on shoreline and trail-side sites.
