Campgrounds and RV parks near Lake Wildwood, CA

Lake Wildwood sits in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Nevada County, California, surrounded by the Gold Country towns of Penn Valley, Grass Valley, and Nevada City. The area gives RV travelers easy access to private lakes, reservoir recreation, and the Tahoe National Forest. Harmony Ridge Resort, a private members-focused resort that has operated since 1985, sits minutes from Nevada City and Grass Valley and is one of several full-service options within a short drive. Lake of the Springs RV Resort is a 950-acre campground in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains with a private 120-acre lake for fishing, swimming, and boating. To the north, Collins Lake Recreation Area spans 1,600 acres with 12 miles of shoreline between Marysville and Grass Valley, and facilities include RV hookups, a boat launch, marina, swimming beach, playground, general store, laundry, and hot showers. Closer in, Inn Town Campground and Lake Francis Resort round out the rental-friendly options. Most properties combine paved or graded sites, hookups, and family amenities, making the corridor a practical base for foothill trips. Elevations across the area range from roughly 1,500 to 3,300 feet, so summers are warm and dry while winters bring rain and occasional snow at the higher resorts.

Most campgrounds in this corridor are privately operated, so each property handles its own reservations. Collins Lake takes reservations by phone and through its online CampLife portal, opening a full two years of dates each January 1, with a 2-night minimum on advance reservations and 3 nights on holidays; some sites carry a 7-night minimum during busy months. Harmony Ridge Resort takes reservations Monday through Saturday, requires a credit card to hold a booking, and applies a 2-night minimum on weekends; note that it operates as a private, members-only resort, so call ahead about guest availability. Lake of the Springs is part of the Thousand Trails network and is typically booked through that membership or via Camping Pass options. Lake Francis Resort and Inn Town Campground accept direct bookings through their own websites. Reserve summer weekends and holidays as early as possible for lakefront sites.
