RV camping near North Lakeport, California
North Lakeport sits on the northwest shore of Clear Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake entirely within California, in Lake County wine country. The area is a working base for RV travelers who want lake access, bass fishing, and easy day trips into surrounding wineries and Mendocino National Forest.
Options break into two categories. Private full-hookup parks line the shoreline: The Aurora RV Park and Marina sits on the north shore in nearby Upper Lake, Konocti Vista RV Park is attached to the Big Valley Rancheria casino south of downtown Lakeport, and the Lake County Fairgrounds / Lakeport Speedway offers in-town hookup sites that fill quickly during event weekends. For a traditional state-park experience, Clear Lake State Park, about 30 minutes south near Kelseyville, runs Kelsey Creek and Upper Bayview campgrounds, among others. All state park sites fit a maximum camper or trailer length of 35 feet and have no electrical or water hookups.
Things to do around North Lakeport
Clear Lake is the centerpiece. Visitors enjoy hiking, swimming, waterskiing, boating, and fishing, with the lake nationally known for largemouth bass. The Aurora RV Park and Marina has a boat launch and a small beach, and provides complimentary kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats with life jackets included, which makes it an easy pick for families.
On land, Clear Lake State Park has short interpretive trails including the Dorn Nature Trail accessed from Upper Bayview, plus a visitor center covering local Pomo history and lake ecology. Konocti Vista RV Park puts the casino, a restaurant, and a marina within walking distance of the sites. Wineries cluster around Kelseyville and Lakeport, and Mt. Konocti, the dormant volcano on the south shore, offers longer day hikes.

Summer is the peak RV season at Clear Lake. Days are hot and dry, the lake is warm enough for swimming and waterskiing, and weekends at lakeside parks book out well in advance. Reserve early if a specific waterfront site at Kelsey Creek or The Aurora RV Park and Marina matters to the trip.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for towing and outdoor activity. Wildflowers appear in the hills around the lake in March and April, and bass fishing is strong through both shoulder seasons. Bookings ease noticeably outside of summer and holiday weekends.
Winter is wet and quiet. December is the wettest month, and the Cole Creek, Lower Bayview, and Upper Bayview loops at Clear Lake State Park close for the season. Kelsey Creek Campground stays open year-round. Private parks such as Konocti Vista RV Park and The Aurora RV Park and Marina generally stay open through winter, though on-site amenity hours can be reduced. Confirm seasonal status directly with the park before booking a winter trip.
How to book campgrounds near North Lakeport
Reservation systems split by ownership. For Kelsey Creek and Upper Bayview at Clear Lake State Park, book through ReserveCalifornia. Reservations open on a rolling window up to six months in advance of the arrival date, with new dates released daily at 8 a.m. Pacific time, and summer weekends commonly sell out the moment the window opens. Reservations can also be made by phone at 1-800-444-7275.
Private parks are booked direct. The Aurora RV Park and Marina takes reservations through its own website or third-party platforms such as Campspot and Good Sam. Konocti Vista RV Park is booked through the casino resort front desk or its reservation line. Lake County Fairgrounds / Lakeport Speedway hookup sites are reserved through the fairgrounds office and can be blocked off during race weekends, fairs, and county events, so check the events calendar before locking in dates.
What to expect on the ground
Hookups vary sharply by park. The private waterfront parks deliver full service. The Aurora RV Park and Marina has 63 RV spaces with city water, sewer, and 30 and 50 amp electric, plus a handful of glamping tent sites. Konocti Vista RV Park is a full-service RV park with 74 sites, 30 and 50 amp service, water and sewer, a laundry room, and showers, set within steps of the casino and marina.
Clear Lake State Park is a different experience. Sites have a fire ring, a picnic table, and a bear-proof food storage box, with no electric or water at the site. The park has a dump station, flush toilets, and pay showers. The maximum camper or trailer length is 35 feet, so larger rigs are better served by the private parks.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near North Lakeport, CA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in North Lakeport, CA?
RV rental in North Lakeport is one of the more affordable ways to experience Clear Lake country. On RVezy, most travel trailers rent for around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes typically range from $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A rigs sit higher. You save the most by booking midweek (Sunday through Thursday) and aiming for the shoulder months of April, May, and October when nightly rates drop and Lake County wineries are still buzzing. Pro tip: filter for travel trailers if you want a cheap RV rental, and many North Lakeport hosts will deliver and set up at Clear Lake State Park so you skip the towing learning curve entirely.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=North%20Lakeport%2C%20CaliforniaWhat driver's license do I need to rent an RV in North Lakeport?
Good news: for almost every RV you can rent in North Lakeport, your regular Class C California driver's license (or its equivalent from any U.S. state) is all you need. California only requires a non-commercial Class B license for housecars longer than 40 feet, and virtually every RVezy listing in Lake County is under that threshold. You'll need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? Grab an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto club before you fly, usually under $20, and you're set to rent an RV in California with zero extra paperwork.
dmv.ca.gov/portal/handbook/california-driver-handbook/driver-license-classes/Is my RV rental in North Lakeport protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RV rental in North Lakeport on RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included in your booking, so you are never on your own. The protection plan covers eligible damage to the RV and gives you real financial peace of mind during your Clear Lake trip. Booking an RV rental in North Lakeport is genuinely low-risk thanks to RVezy's cancellation policy, which is set by RVezy rather than by individual hosts. You get a money-back grace period right after booking, and the remaining cancellation terms depend on how far out you are from your trip start date. That flexibility means you can plan your Clear Lake getaway with confidence. Pro tip: book early to lock in lakefront RVs for bass tournament weekends, and review the full cancellation timeline in the RVezy Help Center before you confirm so you know exactly where you stand.

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rentals in North Lakeport are plentiful on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search and you will see every host who welcomes dogs (and sometimes cats) on board. Clear Lake is a fantastic dog-friendly destination: Library Park in downtown Lakeport has lake access where pups love to splash, and the paved Lakefront Trail is leash-friendly with shade. At Clear Lake State Park, dogs are allowed in campgrounds, parking lots, and on paved roadways, but not on hiking trails. Pack a long lead and a water bowl, and message the host upfront about any pet fees so check-in is seamless.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=473Can the RV be delivered to my campground in North Lakeport?
Yes, RV delivery in North Lakeport is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game-changer for first-time renters. Many local hosts will tow and set up your trailer or motorhome directly at Clear Lake State Park, Will-O-Point Resort in Lakeport, or a private lakefront site, then walk you through every system before they leave. You skip towing through the windy Highway 175 grade entirely. Just filter for Delivery on your search, message the host with your campsite number, and confirm the delivery fee (usually flat-rate within Lake County). It is the easiest way to enjoy a motorhome rental in North Lakeport without driving one yourself.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=North%20Lakeport%2C%20CaliforniaHow far can I drive on a North Lakeport RV rental?

Check the mileage details on the listing page before booking, and message the host if you're planning a big loop. Pro tip: ask about mileage packages, several hosts bundle in extra miles for a small flat fee.

You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near North Lakeport and the broader Clear Lake shoreline. Will-O-Point Resort sits right on the lake near historic downtown Lakeport with full-hookup RV sites. The Aurora RV Park and Marina in Nice offers lakeside hookup sites perfect for anglers. Book Clear Lake State Park through ReserveCalifornia up to six months ahead for the best lakefront spots.
reservecalifornia.com/When is the best time of year for a North Lakeport RV trip?
North Lakeport has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate, which means your sweet spot is April through June and again in September and October. Spring days hover in the comfortable 65 to 80 degree range, wildflowers explode around Mount Konocti, and bass fishing on Clear Lake (rated the country's top bass lake) is at its peak. July and August can push past 90 degrees regularly, sometimes hitting 100, so if you book summer, prioritize RVs with strong air conditioning and shaded lakeside sites. Fall brings grape harvest at Lake County wineries and cooler nights perfect for campfires. Winters are mild (lows around 38 to 40 degrees) and quiet, ideal for off-season deals.
weather.gov/mtr/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay around Clear Lake?
Yes, first time renting an RV around Clear Lake is very manageable, especially because North Lakeport sits on flat, rural roads with light traffic compared to a big-city pickup. Highway 29 and Highway 20 around the lake are well-maintained two-lane routes, and most state park campsites accommodate rigs up to 35 feet. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup covering propane, slides, holding tanks, and the dashboard, so you're never tossed the keys and left guessing. If driving still feels intimidating, simply filter for Delivery and let the host bring the rig to you. Pro tip: start with a smaller Class C or travel trailer for the easiest learning curve.
dmv.ca.gov/portal/handbook/california-driver-handbook/driver-license-classes/What happens if I break down during my Clear Lake RV trip?
You're covered around the clock. Every RV rental in North Lakeport, CA on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, so a flat tire on Highway 20, a dead battery at Kelsey Creek Campground, or a propane issue at 11pm is just a phone call away from getting solved. RVezy's support team also has your back through the app for any host or trip-related questions before, during, and after your booking. The nearest full-service towns are Lakeport and Kelseyville, both with auto repair shops and the Adventist Health Clear Lake hospital. Save the roadside number in your phone at pickup and relax, help is genuinely a few minutes away.

Loop south to Calistoga and Napa Valley (about 70 miles, 1.5 hours) for wine country with full-hookup RV resorts. Drive northeast to Lassen Volcanic National Park (180 miles, about 3.5 hours) for volcanic peaks and hot springs. Or aim south to San Francisco (130 miles, 2.75 hours) for a city-to-coast contrast. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals, but the entire continental U.S. is open road, just confirm cross-state plans with your host.
nps.gov/lavo/index.htmWhat should I budget for fuel on a Clear Lake RV trip?
Fuel is one of the bigger line items for any California RV trip, so plan smart. Class C motorhomes in this area typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A rigs around 6 to 10 mpg, and campervans (Class B) can hit 18 to 22 mpg. California gas prices are among the highest in the country, often $4.75 to $5.25 per gallon in Lake County, with the most affordable stations clustered in Lakeport on Main Street and Lakeport Boulevard. For a typical 4-day local loop staying around Clear Lake (under 200 miles total), budget $100 to $200 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Lakeport before heading toward remote stretches of Highway 20 or Highway 175 where stations are sparse.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near North Lakeport?
For Clear Lake State Park, book your campsite as early as possible: ReserveCalifornia opens reservations on a six-month rolling window, and lakeside Kelsey Creek sites disappear within minutes for summer weekends and bass tournament dates. Private parks like Willow Point RV and Campground and The Aurora RV Park and Marina usually open availability further out and you can often snag midweek spots two to four weeks ahead. For shoulder-season trips in April, May, or October, a few weeks of lead time is usually plenty. Pro tip: pair your RVezy booking with your campground reservation on the same day, this is how locals lock in the best lakefront RV trip near North Lakeport.
reservecalifornia.com/What are the driving conditions like around North Lakeport?
You'll find driving around North Lakeport refreshingly low-stress compared to most of California. Highway 29 running through Lakeport is a flat, two-lane corridor along the western shore of Clear Lake, perfect for first-timers. Highway 175 over Cobb Mountain and Highway 20 west toward Ukiah include winding grades and tight curves, so take them slow in any rig over 30 feet. California law caps trailer-towing speeds at 55 mph statewide, and large rigs should stay in the right two lanes. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk, and check Caltrans QuickMap during winter for occasional rain-related closures. Summer wildfire smoke can affect visibility in late August, so keep an eye on AirNow before driving.
quickmap.dot.ca.gov/How do I handle the summer heat in a Clear Lake RV?
Clear Lake summers run hot, with July and August highs averaging 90 to 92 degrees and occasional spikes over 100, so plan ahead and you'll stay comfortable. Book an RV with confirmed working roof AC (every Class A and most Class C listings on RVezy have it), plan your driving for morning hours before noon, and pick shaded lakeside sites at Kelsey Creek Campground or Cole Creek Campground inside Clear Lake State Park. Run the generator or hookup power during the hottest afternoon hours, and pre-cool the rig before bed. Pro tip: pack a portable fan, swim at Library Park's beach in downtown Lakeport mid-afternoon, and shoulder-season trips (May or October) are the smart-money move if heat isn't your thing.
weather.gov/mtr/Where can I dump tanks and refill fresh water near North Lakeport?
You've got reliable options close by. Clear Lake State Park has a public dump station near the entrance (small fee for non-campers), and most private parks including Willow Point RV and Campground, The Aurora RV Park and Marina, and Clear Lake Campground offer dump and potable water fill for guests. In Lakeport, the city operates utilities serving local RV-friendly businesses. State park sites do not have individual hookups, so plan to arrive with a full fresh tank and dump on your way out. Pro tip: top off potable water at your dump stop rather than mid-trip, and bring a quality drinking-water hose so you can fill straight from any standard campground spigot.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=473What amenities should I expect inside my North Lakeport RV rental?
You'll be impressed by how loaded most rigs are. A typical campervan rental North Lakeport or Class C motorhome on RVezy comes with a queen or full bed, kitchenette with two-burner stove and fridge, microwave, dinette, indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, roof AC, propane heater, and seatbelted seating for travel. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes often add a TV, generator, outdoor speakers, awning, and a second sleeping area for kids. WiFi varies (cellular signal around Clear Lake is solid on Verizon and AT&T but spotty closer to Cow Mountain). Check the amenities list on each listing carefully, and message the host if you need a specific item like a coffee maker, BBQ, or kayak rack.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=473What add-ons and extras can I get with my North Lakeport rental?
RVezy hosts in the Clear Lake area offer some great optional add-ons that elevate your trip. Popular extras include bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits with pots and utensils ($25 to $50), generators for off-grid stays, kayaks or paddleboards (perfect for Clear Lake's calm coves), portable BBQs, and outdoor furniture sets. Delivery and setup is the most-requested add-on for a family RV trip North Lakeport, where the host tows the trailer to your campsite and walks you through everything. Pickup typically happens at the host's location in or near Lakeport; mileage policies vary by listing. Review each add-on price on the listing before checkout to avoid surprises, and ask the host about bundle discounts.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=473How does the security deposit and payment work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure: you pay the rental cost through RVezy at booking using a credit or debit card, never directly to the host. A security deposit is held (not charged) on your card before the trip starts, with the amount set by the host and clearly shown on the listing. As long as the RV comes back in the same condition it left, the hold is released after your trip. To avoid any deposit issues, do a walkthrough video at pickup and dropoff with your host, photograph the interior and exterior, and treat the rig like your own. Pro tip: returning the RV clean with tanks dumped is the fastest path to a smooth release.
