Campgrounds and RV parks near Abingdon, MD

Abingdon sits in Harford County along the upper Chesapeake Bay, roughly 30 minutes northeast of Baltimore and within easy reach of I-95. The area works well as an RV base thanks to a mix of private waterfront parks and Maryland state park campgrounds within a short drive. The closest option is Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina, a family-owned waterfront park on the Bush River offering full-hookup sites, a marina, and a swimming pool. Susquehanna State Park lies to the north near Havre de Grace, along the Susquehanna River in northern Maryland, with two wooded loops. Elk Neck State Park sits on a peninsula in Cecil County with 2,370 acres of marshlands, sandy shores, wooded areas, and white clay cliffs, surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay on its western side and the Elk River on its eastern side, and its Elk River Camping Area offers over 250 campsites and cabins. Camp Ramblewood, a private property in Darlington, operates primarily as a group and event venue rather than a nightly campground. Bay Shore Campground rounds out the nearby options for travelers looking for additional Chesapeake-region choices.

Maryland state park reservations, including Susquehanna and Elk Neck, are handled through the reservations center at 1-888-432-2267, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or online at parkreservations.maryland.gov. Reservations can be made up to one year in advance, and it is recommended to book early for summer weekends and holidays. Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina takes reservations directly through the park at barharborrvpark.com; waterfront sites with full hookups are the most requested and should be locked in early for summer weekends. Camp Ramblewood is limited to group rentals rather than nightly stays and books through direct contact. When selecting a site, confirm rig length limits: at Susquehanna State Park, the maximum length for RVs is 30 feet, while Bar Harbor and Elk Neck's full-hookup loops accommodate larger rigs and pull-throughs.
