Campgrounds and RV parks near Annapolis, MD

Annapolis sits on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay in central Maryland, roughly 30 miles east of Washington, D.C. and 30 miles south of Baltimore. That location gives RV travelers access to two very different trip templates from a single base: waterfront and maritime history in Annapolis itself, and the museums, monuments, and national parks of the D.C. metro area. Campgrounds serving Annapolis visitors are spread across three corridors. West and southwest, along the Route 50 and I-95 route toward Washington, sit Greenbelt Park Campground, Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday, and Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC. Greenbelt Park is about 10 miles from Washington, D.C., a common overnight for travelers splitting time between the capital and the bay. Northwest of Annapolis, Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area offers river-valley camping near Baltimore, though the Hollofield campground has been closed for renovations and travelers should confirm status before booking. Across the Bay Bridge on the Eastern Shore, Bay Shore Campground sits directly on the Chesapeake Bay near Rock Hall. Expect a mix of full-hookup private resorts and more primitive public campgrounds.

Public campgrounds in the region use two main reservation systems. Federal sites, including Greenbelt Park, are booked through Recreation.gov, with sites bookable up to 6 months in advance. Payment is not accepted on site, and reservations must be made through the Recreation.gov website or the call center at 1-877-444-6777. Maryland state park campgrounds, including Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area, are reserved through the Maryland Park Service reservation portal, though the Hollofield campground has been closed for renovations and travelers should verify status before planning around it. Private parks such as Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday, Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC, and Bay Shore Campground take direct bookings through their own websites or call centers. For summer weekends and Naval Academy graduation week, reserve as early as the booking window opens. Midweek arrivals are noticeably easier to secure.
