The mix suits both quick weekend trips and longer sightseeing itineraries that combine the Inner Harbor with the National Mall.

Private full-service parks include Cherry Hill Park in College Park, Ramblin' Pines in Woodbine, and Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday in Millersville. Greenbelt Park Campground, run by the National Park Service, offers primitive sites in a forested setting roughly ten miles from downtown D.C.
Availability, hookups, and open seasons vary widely between these properties. State and federal campgrounds tend to book earliest for weekends, while the larger private parks offer full hookups, big-rig access, and year-round operations.

Ramblin' Pines and Cherry Hill Park stay open year-round, and the Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday also operates year-round with a seasonal pool.
Spring brings cherry blossom traffic in D.C. and heavy weekend demand at Cherry Hill Park and the KOA. Summer is peak season across every property, with humidity, afternoon thunderstorms, and school-holiday crowds. Fall offers cooler nights, colorful foliage in the parks, and lower demand, and Greenbelt Park stays open into the colder months.
Winter camping is possible at the private year-round parks. Snow and ice storms are occasional and can affect access on secondary roads.

Overall good time. Gray and black water were 2/3 full though and would have been nice to be empty. WiFi was ok in location but sometimes didn’t work. Maybe suspension does need a look over not horrible but slightly loose. Fresh water all the way full would be nice also. I tried to leave it cleaner than I got it as well for the delay on drop off but made sure to get here early this am.

We had such a fantastic time in this RV. It was in ideal size for our family of 5. We travelled from Maryland, through ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. It was nice to drive and didn't feel too big. Clean throughout and no major issues. The host was very helpful and responded super quick to queries. We hope to rent again in the future.

Both VANessa and Vanessa were awesome. All the amenities are thoughtfully available. Van drove well and my son and I had a trip we’ll talk about for years and remember forever. Vanessa is a great communicator and great person. 5+ stars.

How to book campgrounds near Baltimore Highlands
Reservation systems differ by operator. Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area is booked through the Maryland Park Service reservation portal when open, on a rolling window that opens up to a year ahead. Greenbelt Park Campground is reserved through Recreation.gov on a six-month rolling window, and walk-up cash payments are no longer accepted, so all sites must be booked in advance.
Cherry Hill Park, Ramblin' Pines, and the Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For spring cherry blossom weekends, holiday weekends, and major D.C. events, book the private parks and the KOA well ahead, since full-hookup and big-rig sites fill first.
What to expect on-site
Hookups vary widely. Cherry Hill Park offers full-hookup RV sites with 30 and 50-amp service, cable TV, WiFi, and accepts rigs up to about 45 feet, plus pools, a hot tub, mini golf, a camp store, laundry, and bus service to the D.C. Metro. Ramblin' Pines has full-hookup sites, pull-throughs, a pool, mini golf, playgrounds, and a camp store in a wooded setting. The Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday offers pull-through and back-in full-hookup sites, cabins, a seasonal pool, and standard KOA amenities.
Public campgrounds are more basic. Greenbelt Park Campground has 174 primitive sites with flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station but no water or electric hookups, with RV length limits that vary by loop. Patapsco Valley's Hollofield Area offers a mix of electric and primitive sites arranged in loops, with an 11-foot height restriction on one approach bridge.
