Campgrounds and RV parks near Belcamp, MD

The upper Chesapeake and its tributaries drive most trip planning. Boating, kayaking, crabbing, and fishing are the core water activities, with launches on the Bush, Susquehanna, Northeast, and Elk rivers. Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina has fishing piers, marina access, and a seasonal swimming pool, with the Bush River right at the campsites. On land, Susquehanna State Park offers over fifteen miles of trails, including the accessible Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenways Trail, riding and mountain-biking terrain, and historical stops such as the Rock Run Grist Mill. At Elk Neck, families hike to the Turkey Point Lighthouse on the southern tip of the peninsula and swim at the North East Beach day-use area. Baltimore's Inner Harbor, Havre de Grace, and Aberdeen Proving Ground museums are all within easy day-trip range.

The prime RV season runs from mid-spring through late fall. The Susquehanna State Park campground operates from May through the last weekend in October, which sets the shoulder-season window for most state-park campers in the area. Memorial Day through Labor Day is the peak stretch, and weekend sites at the state parks fill early. At Elk Neck State Park, the North East Loop stays open year round while other loops run on a spring-to-late-October schedule, and Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina takes overnight RVs on full hookups, so shoulder-season and cool-weather travel is possible if travelers plan for cold nights and reduced services. Spring brings variable weather and mud on unpaved sites, but also blooming trails and lighter crowds. Summer is hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms. Fall delivers the most reliable camping weather, with cooler nights, foliage along the Susquehanna, and easier reservations after Labor Day. Winter reduces water service at most state park loops. Elk Neck is also undergoing a multi-season improvement project that includes replacement of rustic cabins, restoration of a CCC-era cabin, and renovation of several bathhouses, so travelers should confirm loop availability before booking.

Site type varies widely. State parks lean rustic. Susquehanna State Park has 69 RV and tent sites within two loops (Acorn and Beechnut), with six sites in Acorn Loop offering electric hookups and a maximum RV length of 30 feet. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table, and both loops have comfort stations with hot showers. Pets are allowed in all areas of Susquehanna State Park, including the campground and cabins, but must remain on a leash. Private parks offer more hookups and amenities. Full hookups with water, sewer, and 30/50-amp electric, plus cable TV, are available at Bar Harbor, along with a swimming pool, playground, laundry facilities, a camp store, and propane and firewood sales. Larger rigs should confirm site length and turning radius when booking, especially at state park loops with 30-foot maximums.
