Campgrounds and RV parks near Funkstown, MD

Funkstown sits in Washington County along Antietam Creek, minutes from Hagerstown and within short driving distance of the Potomac River, the C&O Canal, and the Blue Ridge foothills. The area sits at the intersection of Civil War history and the Appalachian Trail corridor, so most nearby campgrounds trade on both. RV renters have a clear split of options. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Williamsport and Hagerstown / Antietam Battlefield KOA Holiday are full-hookup, family-focused properties with pools and organized activities. Greenbrier State Park, about a half hour east near Boonsboro, offers a lakeside campground with electric and non-electric sites inside a Maryland state park. Owens Creek Campground - Catoctin Mountain Park delivers primitive National Park Service sites in forested mountains north of Thurmont, and Leatherman's/Falling Waters Campsite adds a smaller privately run alternative near the Potomac. Distances between properties are short. Most renters can base out of one campground and reach Antietam, Harpers Ferry, and Gettysburg on separate day trips without moving the rig.

Booking channels split by ownership. Reservations at Greenbrier State Park are required through parkreservations.maryland.gov or by calling 1-888-432-2267, and campsite reservations can be made up to 365 days in advance. Owens Creek Campground is federal: all reservations must be made in advance via Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777, and walk-in reservations are not accepted. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Williamsport and the Hagerstown / Antietam Battlefield KOA Holiday book directly through their own websites or by phone, and both fill quickly for summer weekends and holiday weeks. Leatherman's/Falling Waters Campsite is a smaller private operation; contact the campground directly. For RV renters, confirm site length and hookups before booking. Owens Creek in particular has strict rig limits, and some Greenbrier loops are non-electric.
