Campgrounds near Perryville
Perryville sits at the mouth of the Susquehanna River on the upper Chesapeake Bay in Cecil County, Maryland. RV travelers use it as a base for waterfront camping, river recreation, and quick access to I-95 between Baltimore and Wilmington. Two Maryland state parks anchor the area, along with several private RV parks and marinas along the Bush and Elk rivers.
Susquehanna State Park sits directly across the river in Harford County and has 69 RV and tent sites within two loops, the Acorn Loop and the Beechnut Loop, with a maximum RV length of 30 feet. Elk Neck State Park, on the peninsula south of North East, offers over 250 campsites, mini cabins and rustic cabins along the Chesapeake shoreline. Private options include Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina, a family-owned RV park on a scenic peninsula facing the Bush River in Abingdon, Woodlands Camping Resort near Elkton, and Camp Ramblewood in Darlington.
Most sites in the region cater to families and mid-size rigs, with a mix of electric, full-hookup, and non-electric options.
Things to do near Perryville
The Susquehanna River and upper Chesapeake Bay drive most trip planning. Boating, kayaking, and fishing are the main draws, with a launch for canoes and kayaks near the parking lot at the bottom of Lapidum Road in Susquehanna State Park and marina access at Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina on the Bush River. Anglers can catch striped, largemouth, and smallmouth bass in the park's waters.
On land, Susquehanna State Park offers hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails, plus the Rock Run Historic Area featuring the Rock Run Grist Mill and the Jersey Toll House. Elk Neck State Park offers a roughly 2.5 mile drive from the campground to the Turkey Point Lighthouse trail, along with a swimming beach and nature center. Historic Havre de Grace, just across the river, adds a waterfront promenade, decoy museum, and lighthouse.

The Susquehanna State Park campground operates from the first weekend in May through the last weekend in October. Elk Neck State Park is open year round for RV sites, though rustic cabins and some loops close for winter, and the park has scheduled major improvements to bathhouses and cabins during the 2026 season.
Late spring and early fall bring the most comfortable weather and lighter crowds. Summer is peak season: humid, warm, and busy, with weekends at the state parks often booked well ahead. Bay-region thunderstorms are common in July and August, and tropical systems occasionally track through in late summer.
October delivers cool nights and fall color along the Susquehanna. Winter camping in the immediate area is limited, with year-round private options including Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina on the Bush River.

Maryland gas prices typically run close to or slightly above the national average, and you will find competitive fuel at the Royal Farms and travel center locations along I-95 near the Perryville and North East exits. Expect roughly 8 to 10 MPG for Class A motorhomes, 10 to 14 MPG for Class C, 15 to 20 MPG for Class B campervans, and 12 to 16 MPG for trucks towing trailers. A weekend at Elk Neck State Park (about 12 miles away) might cost around $20 in fuel, while a 500-mile loop to Shenandoah and back can run about $200 to $250. Pro tip: use a fuel price app and fill up in Cecil County before crossing into higher-priced areas.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Perryville?
For Maryland state parks like Susquehanna and Elk Neck, book through the Maryland Park Service reservation portal as early as possible: sites typically open up to 12 months in advance, and prime summer weekends fill quickly. For private parks, 1 to 3 months ahead is usually plenty except around July 4 and Labor Day. Nearby Delaware sites like Lums Pond State Park use Delaware State Parks reservations and follow a similar window. Pro tip: midweek arrivals are far easier to score, and Tuesday-to-Friday stays at Susquehanna often have better availability even in July.
dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/Reservations.aspxWhat are driving conditions like around Perryville?
Driving in and out of Perryville is refreshingly straightforward. The town sits right off I-95, with easy access to US-40 and MD-222, all of which are wide, well-paved, and RV-friendly. The biggest thing to watch is the Hatem Memorial Bridge and Tydings Bridge over the Susquehanna, both of which can get gusty in high winds, so slow down if a storm is rolling through. Avoid I-95 toll backups northbound during Friday afternoon rush (3 to 7 PM) by using E-ZPass lanes. Winter brings occasional ice on backroads like MD-7. Pro tip: clearance on local interstate bridges is generous, so even Class A rigs travel comfortably.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Perryville,%20MarylandHow does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Perryville?
Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform. You pay your total trip cost (rental, protection plan, fees, and any add-ons) with a credit or debit card at checkout, never directly to the host. The security deposit is handled separately from your booking payment and is typically released a few days after a smooth trip return. The deposit covers things like cleaning beyond normal, missing equipment, or damage not included in your protection level. To avoid issues, do a thorough photo walkthrough at pickup and dropoff with the host, and return the RV with fuel and propane levels matched to pickup. Pro tip: keep all receipts during your Perryville RV trip in case any deposit questions come up later.
