Reisterstown camping overview
Reisterstown sits in northwestern Baltimore County, giving RV travelers access to both state park camping and full-hookup private resorts within an hour's drive. The area blends rolling piedmont countryside with easy reach of Baltimore, Washington DC, Gettysburg, and York County, Pennsylvania.
Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area is the closest state-run option, located off Route 40 in Ellicott City with tent and RV sites, some with electric hookups, plus picnic areas, trail access to the river and a scenic overlook of the Patapsco Valley. The Hollofield campground has been closed for a long-anticipated renovation, so travelers should confirm current status with the Maryland Park Service before booking.
For full-hookup RV camping, Ramblin' Pines in Woodbine and Merry Meadows Recreation Farm in Freeland are two established private options. Further afield, Codorus State Park Gift Shop and Museum in southern York County, Pennsylvania anchors lakeside camping at Lake Marburg, and Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday works as a base for day trips into the capital.
Things to do near Reisterstown
Patapsco Valley State Park is the main outdoor draw. The park offers 70 miles of hiking, biking, and multi-use trails, and the Patapsco River runs through it, providing water-based recreation. The park spans 32 miles along the Patapsco River with eight different recreation areas, so day trips from a campsite can cover very different terrain each day.
Families with kids gravitate to the private resorts for on-site amenities. Ramblin' Pines is packed with amenities including a swimming pool, mini-golf, and a fishing pond, plus themed weekends with live music, hayrides, and a jumping pillow.
For a lake day, Codorus State Park delivers. The 1,275-acre Lake Marburg has 26 miles of shoreline and is popular for sailing, motor boating, warmwater fishing, picnicking, swimming in the pool, and disc golf.

Summer is peak. Reviewers consistently note that holiday weekends need to be booked well in advance at Ramblin' Pines.
Shoulder-season camping in May and September through mid-October offers cooler nights, lower bug pressure, and easier reservations. Winter camping is possible at a handful of private parks: Ramblin' Pines lists open all year, though water service and some amenities may be limited during hard freezes.

Overall good time. Gray and black water were 2/3 full though and would have been nice to be empty. WiFi was ok in location but sometimes didn’t work. Maybe suspension does need a look over not horrible but slightly loose. Fresh water all the way full would be nice also. I tried to leave it cleaner than I got it as well for the delay on drop off but made sure to get here early this am.

We had such a fantastic time in this RV. It was in ideal size for our family of 5. We travelled from Maryland, through ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. It was nice to drive and didn't feel too big. Clean throughout and no major issues. The host was very helpful and responded super quick to queries. We hope to rent again in the future.

Had an amazing travel experience with VANessa and Vanessa was a joy to work with. So very accommodating. The van is beautiful and has everything you could want. Even my pup Seamus gave it two paws up!

How to book near Reisterstown
State park sites use central reservation systems. Maryland parks, including Patapsco Valley, are booked through the Maryland Park Service portal on ReserveAmerica, and reservations must be made at least 1 day ahead of arrival and can be made up to 365 days in advance. Pennsylvania parks use a different window: reservations for Codorus State Park are made through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system online or by phone at 888-PA-PARKS, and sites can be booked up to 11 months in advance, with a 3-day advance requirement.
Private campgrounds book directly through their own websites or through platforms like Good Sam. For popular weekends, especially Halloween, sites at Ramblin' Pines and Merry Meadows Recreation Farm often sell out months ahead.
Have rig length, slide-out count, and hookup needs ready when booking. Some state park loops have height or length limits that rule out larger motorhomes.
What to expect near Reisterstown
Expect wooded, rolling terrain rather than flat pull-through parking lots. Sites at Patapsco Valley State Park sit among mature hardwoods; the Hollofield campground has 73 campsites, some with electric hookups, and each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. Campers whose units are over 11 feet 1 inch in height must enter the park by the Route 40 East Entrance.
Private resorts offer more amenities but tighter spacing. Ramblin' Pines has 200 campsites with 190 full hookups and 12 pull-through sites, and cable TV is included with daily rates. Codorus State Park's campground provides a mix of full-hookup, modern electric, modern non-electric, and tent sites, with a sanitary dump station on site.
Cell service is generally reliable across Baltimore and Carroll County but can drop in wooded loops. Download maps before arrival and expect deer, raccoons, and occasional wildlife encounters.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Reisterstown, MD?

Most hosts in the Baltimore County area offer 10 to 20 percent weekly and monthly discounts, so longer stays at places like Patapsco Valley State Park bring your nightly cost down significantly. For a cheap RV rental in Reisterstown, book a travel trailer mid-week in spring or fall and skip the peak July 4th weekend. Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Reisterstown, MD. Maryland does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for the motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers listed on RVezy, regardless of length. You'll just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the booking platform so there's no paperwork hassle at pickup. Visiting from outside the US? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside your home-country license. That's it, you're ready to roll out toward Patapsco Valley or the Chesapeake.
mva.maryland.gov/drivers/Pages/default.aspxWhat protection is included with my Reisterstown RV rental?
Every RV rental in Reisterstown booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included, so you are covered from the moment you pull off Reisterstown Road. Protection plans cover most physical damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose the coverage tier that fits your comfort during checkout (not the host). It is not traditional auto insurance, but it provides real financial peace of mind whether you are navigating the I-695 Beltway or parked at Hollofield Campground in Patapsco Valley State Park. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers before you book, since upgrading is a small daily cost for added peace of mind on your first motorhome rental Reisterstown trip.

Plans change, and RVezy keeps cancellation straightforward when you rent an RV in Reisterstown. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy across the platform, and the policy is not displayed on the listing page: you see the full terms during checkout and inside your RVezy dashboard. Refund eligibility depends on how far out your trip is and your booking timing, with additional protections if a host cancels on you. Pro tip: book early to secure the best Reisterstown rigs for summer Patapsco Valley trips, and review the cancellation terms carefully at checkout before confirming.

Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental in Reisterstown is easy to find on RVezy. Just turn on the Pet-Friendly filter and you will see hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) in their rigs. Once you arrive, your pup will love the area: Patapsco Valley State Park allows leashed dogs on most trails in the Hilton and Hollofield areas, and Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area just minutes from downtown Reisterstown has open serpentine grassland trails perfect for sniff-walks. Pack a tie-out, water bowl, and waste bags. Pro tip: message your host before booking to confirm any pet fee and ask about their favorite dog-friendly local stops.
dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/Rules.aspxCan a host deliver the RV to my campground in Reisterstown?
Yes, RV delivery in Reisterstown is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who would rather skip driving a 30-foot motorhome through Owings Mills traffic. Many local hosts will deliver and set up the RV directly at Hollofield Campground in Patapsco Valley State Park, Ramblin Pines in Woodbine, or even your driveway off Reisterstown Road. They will level the rig, connect hookups, and walk you through every system before handing you the keys. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts offering this service and their delivery radius. Pro tip: delivery fees are based on distance, so booking a host based in Baltimore County usually keeps costs low for a Patapsco Valley setup.

parkreservations.maryland.gov/When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Reisterstown?
Reisterstown's sweet spot for RV camping runs from late April through mid-October, with average highs around 65°F in spring, 85 to 90°F in summer, and a glorious 70°F with low humidity in September and October. Fall is the local insider favorite: Patapsco Valley's hardwood forests turn brilliant red and gold from mid-October to early November, and campgrounds are quieter. Winters dip into the 30s with occasional snow, but Hollofield Campground at Patapsco stays open year-round if you want a frosty getaway. Pro tip: avoid late June through July weekends when humidity peaks and Baltimore-area campgrounds fill, May and September deliver the same scenery with half the crowds.
weather.gov/lwx/I'm first time renting an RV. Will I get help with how it all works?
You'll be in great hands. Every RVezy host in Reisterstown provides a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery if you booked that option) where they walk you through driving, slide-outs, the generator, water tanks, propane, and the awning. You can message your host directly through the listing page before booking to ask any first-timer questions: nothing is too basic. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: for your first night, book a close-by campground like Patapsco Valley's Hollofield (just 20 minutes from Reisterstown) so you can settle in without a long drive and call your host if anything pops up.
dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/central/patapsco.aspxWhat happens if I have a breakdown during my Reisterstown RV trip?
You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Reisterstown MD comes with 24/7 roadside assistance included as part of the RVezy protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, jump-starts, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing when needed. Your host is also a great first contact for questions about the rig, and RVezy support backs everyone up. Pro tip: snap a quick photo of the roadside assistance number from your booking confirmation and save it to your phone before pulling out of the host's driveway, so it is one tap away if you ever need it.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Reisterstown RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Cross-state RV road trips from Reisterstown are easy and encouraged. Most hosts welcome travel throughout the lower 48, so you can roll into Pennsylvania for Gettysburg, Virginia for Shenandoah, West Virginia for Harpers Ferry, or down the I-95 corridor to the Outer Banks without issue. If you're dreaming of crossing into Canada, message the host before booking to confirm: some allow it with advance notice and proof of route. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: a classic Reisterstown loop is the Civil War circuit, Gettysburg to Antietam to Harpers Ferry, all within a 90-minute radius and packed with RV-friendly campgrounds.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for my Reisterstown motorhome rental?
Realistic fuel planning makes your trip smoother. Class C motorhomes from Reisterstown typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A rigs around 6 to 10 MPG, campervans (Class B) 15 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually a 20 to 30 percent hit on its normal MPG). Maryland gas prices typically run a few cents above the national average; you'll find competitive pricing at Wawa and Royal Farms stations along Reisterstown Road and MD-140. Pro tip: most motorhomes take regular unleaded, but plan fill-ups at truck-friendly stations like the Royal Farms in Westminster or the Wawa at Owings Mills, where you can pull through without unhooking.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Reisterstown?
For the best campgrounds near Reisterstown, book early, especially for summer. Maryland State Park campsites (including Patapsco Valley's Hollofield Area) open reservations up to one year in advance through parkreservations.maryland.gov, and prime summer weekends often sell out 60 to 90 days ahead. Private parks like Ramblin' Pines in Woodbine fill 3 to 4 weeks ahead for July and August. Fall and spring weekdays you can often snag sites a week out. Pro tip: if Hollofield is booked, check Codorus State Park in Pennsylvania (45 minutes north) or Cunningham Falls State Park (about 1 hour west), both have larger inventories and similar scenery for your Reisterstown RV trip base camp.
parkreservations.maryland.gov/What are driving conditions like in and around Reisterstown?
Reisterstown driving is very RV-friendly once you know a couple of local quirks. MD-140 (Reisterstown Road) is wide, straight, and easy in any rig, and I-795 connects you quickly to the I-695 Baltimore Beltway and I-83 north toward Pennsylvania. Watch for the 11-foot bridge clearance heading east into Patapsco Valley's Hollofield Area, approach from the west if you're in a tall Class A. Avoid downtown Baltimore in tight rigs; stick to the Beltway. Pro tip: rush hours on I-695 and I-795 (7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6:30 PM weekdays) can crawl, so plan your pickup or dump-station runs mid-morning or after 7 PM for a relaxed drive.

Campgrounds near Reisterstown range from full-resort to back-to-nature, so you can pick your comfort level. Ramblin' Pines offers full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50 amp electric), Wi-Fi, a pool, mini-golf, and a camp store. Patapsco Valley's Hollofield Area has 30-amp electric sites, a bathhouse with hot showers, potable water fill-up, an RV dump station, and firewood sales. Most Maryland state parks have dump stations on-site even if your specific loop lacks sewer hookups. Pro tip: fill your fresh water tank before leaving the host or campground, and use the Hollofield dump station on your way out to start your next leg of your Reisterstown RV trip empty and ready.
dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/central/patapsco.aspxWhat's included inside the RVs available in Reisterstown?
RVs on RVezy in Reisterstown come ready for adventure. Expect a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink, cookware), a private bathroom with toilet and shower in most Class B, C, A, and trailer rentals, comfortable beds (queens, bunks, convertible dinettes), heating and air conditioning, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many local listings include a TV, Wi-Fi hotspot, outdoor awning, camp chairs, and a generator for off-grid use. Each listing on RVezy lists exactly what's included and how many it sleeps. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count and look for a campervan rental Reisterstown listing if you want easier driving, or pick a Class C with bunks for a family RV trip Reisterstown weekend at Patapsco.

Common add-ons include linen and towel packages, kitchen kits, generators or extra fuel, bike racks, kayak and SUP racks, fire pits, outdoor mats, and camp chairs. Mileage policies typically range from 100 to 150 free miles per night with overages, and many hosts offer Delivery for a flat fee based on distance from their Baltimore County base. Pickup windows are usually flexible (often early afternoon with mid-morning drop-off). Pro tip: bundle delivery, linens, and a kitchen kit so you can fly into BWI Airport and meet your rig at Hollofield Campground without packing a thing.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Reisterstown%2C%20MarylandHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment for your RV rental in Reisterstown is simple and secure, all handled through RVezy (never directly with the host). You pay with a credit or debit card at booking, and funds are held safely until your trip begins. Hosts set a refundable security deposit that is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after drop-off, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. Pro tip: do a thorough walkaround photo and video at pickup and again at drop-off with your host present. It takes about 5 minutes and is the single best way to ensure a smooth security deposit return after your Reisterstown adventure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Reisterstown during winter?
Yes, a winter RV rental in Reisterstown is absolutely possible and surprisingly magical. Many local hosts keep their rigs available year-round, and Patapsco Valley State Park's Hollofield Area stays open through the winter. Maryland winters average roughly 25 to 45 degrees F with occasional snow, so look for RVs with heated holding tanks, a working furnace, and good insulation (check the listing notes or message the host to confirm). Plan to camp at sites with electric hookups so you can run a small space heater and avoid freezing lines. Pro tip: a winter trip to Patapsco Valley for frosty-morning hikes to Cascade Falls, followed by hot cocoa in a warm motorhome, is a Baltimore-area insider tradition. Just drain water lines if overnight temps drop well below freezing.
