Campgrounds near Ridgely, Maryland
Ridgely sits in Caroline County on Maryland's Eastern Shore, within a short drive of several state-park and private campgrounds strung along the Choptank River and Tuckahoe Creek watersheds. RV travellers use the town as a quiet base for exploring the Delmarva Peninsula, with Delaware beaches, Chesapeake Bay towns, and Annapolis all within reasonable driving distance.
The closest state-park option is Tuckahoe State Park, a stream-and-valley park divided by Tuckahoe Creek, with boating and fishing on a 60-acre lake. Just south, Martinak State Park sits at the confluence of the Choptank River and Watts Creek in Caroline County near Denton. Private options include Holiday Park Campground in Greensboro and Duck Neck Campground on the Chester River near Chestertown.
Camp Todd, a Girl Scout property on Lake Williston, rounds out the local list and is generally restricted to organized groups. Together these sites give RV travellers a mix of full-hookup private parks and simpler state-park loops within roughly an hour of Ridgely.
Things to do near Ridgely
Water is the main draw. Tuckahoe State Park offers hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, flatwater canoeing and kayaking on the creek and lake, picnicking, and playgrounds. Adkins Arboretum occupies 400 acres within the park and displays vegetation indigenous to Maryland. An 18-hole disc golf course and a physical fitness challenge course add options for older kids.
At Martinak State Park, anglers can fish for bass, perch, sunfish, and catfish in the Choptank River and Watts Creek, with a boat launch and pier providing easy access to the waterways. The park's nature center offers educational programs and exhibits.
On the Chester River side, Duck Neck Campground is well positioned for fishing, crabbing, and boating. Historic Chestertown, with its farmers market and waterfront, is a short drive from there.

Peak RV season on the Eastern Shore runs from late spring through early fall, with summer weekends and holidays filling up first. During peak periods, especially holiday weekends, advance reservations are strongly recommended, as Tuckahoe fills quickly. Summer is warm and humid, and afternoon thunderstorms are common, particularly in July and August.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for tent-and-trailer camping, with mild days, cooler nights, and fewer bugs. Holiday Park Campground typically runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, so it is a warm-weather option only. Foliage in October is modest compared with the Appalachians but still adds colour along the Choptank.
Winter access is limited at most private parks, though Martinak and Tuckahoe are open year round for camping. Off-season RVers with self-contained rigs can find quiet weekdays, cold nights, and open trails between December and February.
How to book campgrounds near Ridgely
Maryland state-park sites at Tuckahoe and Martinak are handled through the state's central reservation system. Reservations can be made by calling 1-888-432-2267 or online at parkreservations.maryland.gov, and sites can be booked up to a year in advance, so summer weekends should be locked in months ahead.
Tuckahoe offers 34 electric hookup campsites, 20 non-electric sites, and 8 mini-cabins, all served by central bathhouses. Martinak features 63 campsites suitable for tents and trailers, with about 30 sites equipped with 30-amp electric hookups.
Private parks book directly. Holiday Park Campground in Greensboro takes reservations through its own website and phone line, and Duck Neck Campground handles bookings through its site. Camp Todd is a Girl Scout property, so general RV travellers should plan on the state parks or private options instead.
What to expect on the ground
State-park sites in this area lean rustic. Tuckahoe sites are 30-amp electric only, with no sewer and no water at each site; potable water spigots are located around each loop, and amenities include flush toilets, a dump station, and a camp store. Most sites are shady and reasonably level.
At Martinak, the campground runs two loops, each centered around its own bathhouse. Loop B carries 30-amp electric hookups, and Loop A holds mostly non-electric sites plus a handful of first-come, first-served electric spots. Sites are long but a bit narrow, so very wide RVs may have trouble parking; the pads are level and well surfaced.
Holiday Park accommodates RVs up to 60 feet with 30-amp electric and water hookups, some sewer sites, and WiFi, and enforces quiet hours and fire cutoff times. Cell coverage across the region is generally usable but not always strong.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Ridgely, MD?

On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $140 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $250 per night, and larger Class A motorhomes start around $250 and up. Because Ridgely sits in rural Caroline County on Maryland's Eastern Shore, you often find better value here than in Annapolis or Ocean City. Many hosts also offer weekly discounts for trips of 7 nights or longer, which works well for a Chesapeake Bay road trip.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ridgely,%20MarylandWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Ridgely, Maryland?
A standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Ridgely. Every motorhome and travel trailer listed on RVezy in Maryland can be operated with a regular license, with no commercial driver's license (CDL) or special RV endorsement required for personal recreational vehicles. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs insurance and roadside assistance included with my Ridgely RV rental?
Yes. Every RV rental in Ridgely booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can explore the Eastern Shore with peace of mind. During checkout you choose your protection level (guests select the tier, not hosts), with each plan offering coverage for damage to the RV and a corresponding deductible. Roadside help is a phone call away whether you are on Route 50 heading toward Ocean City or parked near Tuckahoe State Park. If it is your first time renting an RV, choosing a higher protection tier lowers your deductible and adds extra reassurance.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my RV rental in Ridgely?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy, not individual hosts, sets the cancellation policy for every RV rental in Maryland, including Ridgely. There is a grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund, and additional refund tiers apply based on how far in advance of your trip you cancel. Because the policy is platform-wide, cancellation terms are not displayed on individual listings, which keeps things consistent and simple. If a host cancels on you, RVezy provides a refund or travel credit. Booking early lets you lock in your dates while keeping the flexibility built into the standard policy.

Yes. Pet-friendly RV rental in Ridgely is easy to find on RVezy: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter to see dog-welcome rigs across the Delmarva Peninsula. Many Eastern Shore hosts are pet owners and genuinely welcome four-legged guests. For pet-friendly adventures, head to nearby Tuckahoe State Park where leashed pets are welcome on trails and around Lake Tuckahoe. Martinak State Park near Denton (about 8 miles south of Ridgely) also allows pets in day-use areas and at most campsites. Message the host before booking to confirm pet fees (commonly $25 to $75 per stay) and mention your dog's size, which helps speed up approval.
dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/eastern/tuckahoe.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Ridgely?
Yes. RV delivery in Ridgely is offered by many RVezy hosts, and it is one of the easiest ways to start a trip, especially if it is your first time renting an RV. The host drives the motorhome or travel trailer to your chosen location, levels it, connects water, sewer, and electric, and walks you through every system before handing over the keys. Popular delivery destinations from Ridgely include Tuckahoe State Park, Martinak State Park, and private campgrounds near Denton and Greensboro. Use the Delivery filter when searching, and expect delivery fees that vary by host and distance. Booking a travel trailer with delivery is a great way to enjoy the campground experience without towing.

dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/eastern/tuckahoe.aspxWhen is the best time to take an RV trip from Ridgely, MD?
The sweet spot for a Ridgely RV trip is mid-April through mid-June and again from early September through late October. Spring brings mild 60 to 75 degree days and blooming dogwoods, while fall delivers crisp 55 to 70 degree weather and great foliage along Tuckahoe Creek. Summer in July and August is warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s and occasional thunderstorms, but it is peak Chesapeake Bay season for crabbing and beach trips. Winter is relatively mild for the region (often 35 to 50 degrees), and some hosts rent year-round if you choose a four-season RV. Late October is a particularly nice window for foliage on the Eastern Shore and Caroline County fall events.
weather.gov/lwx/I have never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around the Eastern Shore?
You will do great. The Eastern Shore is one of the friendlier places in the country for a first time renting an RV. Roads around Ridgely are flat, wide, and lightly trafficked compared to the I-95 corridor, with Route 404 and Route 50 acting as the main arteries. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving tips, hookups, slide-outs, and the propane system, and you can message them anytime during your trip. If you would rather skip the driving, book a host who offers delivery. A short practice loop on Ridgely's quiet country roads is a great way to build confidence before tackling Bay Bridge traffic.
mva.maryland.gov/safety/Pages/default.aspxWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my Ridgely trip?
You are covered around the clock. Every RV rental in Ridgely booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one call away whether you are on Route 404 near Denton or out near Assateague Island. The service handles flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical breakdowns. Your host is also a message away for quick questions about the rig, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Save the roadside assistance number to your phone before leaving Ridgely, and keep a photo of the RV's license plate handy so you can share details quickly if needed.

Cross-border travel into Canada is allowed on select listings with prior host approval and confirmation of insurance coverage, so message the host directly from the listing page. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. For a memorable RV road trip from Ridgely, the Delmarva loop through Cape Henlopen and Assateague is hard to beat.

Class C motorhomes typically get about 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A rigs about 6 to 10 MPG, campervan rental Ridgely options (Class B) about 16 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers add roughly 2 to 4 MPG of drag to your tow vehicle. A typical 400-mile Delmarva loop in a Class C costs in the range of $130 to $180 in fuel at recent price levels. eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Ridgely?
Book early to get your pick of sites. Maryland State Parks like Tuckahoe and Martinak open reservations well in advance through the Maryland State Parks reservation system, and electric and waterfront sites for summer weekends often fill quickly. For a smooth Ridgely RV trip, aim to reserve campgrounds 4 to 6 months ahead for June through August stays, and 2 to 3 months ahead for spring and fall. Private parks in Caroline County are usually more flexible and can often be booked a few weeks out. If Tuckahoe is full, check Martinak State Park, which is only about 15 minutes from Ridgely and offers direct Choptank River access for kayaking and fishing.

Plan Bay Bridge crossings for weekday mornings or later in the evening. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk on rural roads, and farm equipment during planting and harvest seasons. The Maryland 511 service offers live Bay Bridge traffic information that is very helpful for timing your departure.

dnr.maryland.gov/fisheries/Pages/default.aspxHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure when you rent an RV in Ridgely through RVezy. You pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, and your booking total covers the nightly rate, service fee, your chosen protection plan, and any host add-ons.
