Campgrounds and RV parks near Centerville, MN

Water is the main draw. Big Marine Lake, Peltier Lake, and Centerville Lake support boating, fishing, and swimming, and the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park Reserve offers paddling and shoreline trails within minutes of town. Anglers heading to the St. Croix corridor have options too, with channels that hold northerns, walleye, bass, and panfish. At Savanna - William O Brien State Park, families get hiking, a swim beach, and a nature store. Connecting paths lead to Lake Alice, where there is a swimming beach, and the trail system allows visitors to experience diverse ecosystems of the St. Croix River Valley. Twin Cities day trips, including the Mall of America, the Minnesota Zoo, and downtown Stillwater, are all within a 45-minute drive.

Peak RV season runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, when warm days and long evenings pull campers to the lakes. State-park loops book out fastest on weekends in July and August, and shoulder weekends around the Fourth of July hit capacity months ahead. Weekday arrivals see much better availability across both public and private campgrounds. Spring and fall are the sleeper seasons. May and early June bring wildflowers and cool nights, though biting insects peak from late May into July. September and early October deliver crisp air, low bug pressure, and hardwood color along the St. Croix, and many private parks stay open until mid-October before winterizing. Winter is a different trip. Most private RV parks close by late fall, but winter camping is available at the Savanna Campground and the park's trails are groomed for cross-country skiing, skate skiing, and snowshoeing, and a few camper cabins operate year-round for cold-weather stays.

Sites near Centerville range from full-hookup private parks with pull-throughs to state-park loops with electric-only or non-electric sites. The Savanna Campground is wooded and has 65 sites, with 37 offering 50-amp electric hookups, spread across four loops where the first two carry electric and the other two do not. Big-rig renters should confirm site length and turning radius before booking a state-park loop. Expect mosquitoes near wetlands from June through August, and pack for temperature swings between 60s at night and 80s by day. Cell service is generally strong across Anoka and Washington counties. Only approved firewood is permitted, and pets must be leashed and attended at all times in state parks.
