Campgrounds and RV parks near Dellwood, MN

Dellwood sits in Washington County on the north shore of White Bear Lake, roughly 20 miles northeast of downtown St. Paul and within easy driving distance of the St. Croix River Valley. The area works well as an RV base for families who want lake access, wooded state park trails, and river float trips without a long haul from the Twin Cities. Options range from full-service private parks to state park campgrounds. Disabled Veterans Campground on Big Marine Lake alone offers 199 RV sites, 24 lakeside cabins, and 15 tent sites, with access restricted to veterans, active military, and their sponsored guests. Golden Acres RV Park sits near Square Lake north of Stillwater, while Savanna - William O Brien State Park anchors the public-lands options along the St. Croix. Across the Wisconsin border in Somerset, Apple River Hide-A-Way and Float-Rite Park cater primarily to tubing traffic on the Apple River. Both are seasonal and lean toward group crowds, so families with young children should weigh site placement carefully.

Minnesota state park sites, including those at Savanna - William O Brien State Park, are reserved through the Minnesota DNR reservation system up to 120 days in advance. Bookings can be made online 24 hours a day, or by phone at 866-857-2757 from April through September between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. A Minnesota state park vehicle permit is required in addition to the campsite fee. Private parks handle their own bookings. At Disabled Veterans Campground on Big Marine Lake, reservations for stays of one week or longer are taken year round, and weekend reservations begin each May 1. Access is limited to veterans, active military, and their sponsored guests. Golden Acres RV Park, Apple River Hide-A-Way, and Float-Rite Park take direct bookings through their own websites.
