Campgrounds near Eagan, Minnesota
Eagan sits in the southeast quadrant of the Twin Cities metro, roughly ten miles south of downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. RV travelers use it as a launch point for Mall of America, the Minnesota Zoo, and the trail network along the Minnesota River. Nearly all camping options are private RV parks in the surrounding suburbs, since Eagan itself has no public campground.
The closest full-service option is Town and Country Campground and RV Park in Savage, a family-run park with roughly 80 sites, full hookups for big rigs, a heated saltwater pool, and a playground. Dakotah Meadows RV Park in Prior Lake, next to Mystic Lake Casino, offers 122 paved full-hookup sites and a free shuttle to the casino.
For a lakeside setting, Fish Lake Acres Campground in Prior Lake sits along Fish Lake with a sandy beach and boat access. Cannon Falls Campground, about 40 minutes south, runs 214 wooded sites with a heated pool and weekend activities. Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday rounds out the metro options on the west side of the region.
Things to do near Eagan
Mall of America in neighboring Bloomington anchors most family trips, with Nickelodeon Universe indoor rides and Sea Life aquarium under one roof. The Minnesota Zoo sits inside Eagan's city limits, and Valleyfair amusement park is a short drive west in Shakopee.

Winter RV camping in the metro is essentially unavailable outside a handful of Minnesota state park sites farther afield.
Summer is peak season. June through August delivers warm days, long daylight hours, and the highest thunderstorm frequency, with June the wettest month of the year at the Twin Cities airport station. Holiday weekends around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day book out at the closer parks, and Dakotah Meadows fills quickly around Mystic Lake events.

How to book near Eagan
Private campgrounds around Eagan take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, and most require a deposit at booking. For summer weekends and any stay tied to a Twin Cities event, aim to reserve six to eight weeks out. Dakotah Meadows RV Park in particular sees limited weekend availability around Mystic Lake concerts and tournaments.
Minnesota state parks use the ReserveMN system operated by the DNR. Sites open on a rolling 120-day window, and popular parks release each new date at 8 a.m. Central time. All vehicles entering a Minnesota state park also need a state park vehicle permit, purchased separately from the campsite reservation. Same-day reservations can be made through the DNR call center.
What to expect at Eagan campgrounds
Sites near Eagan lean toward developed private RV parks rather than wilderness camping. Expect paved or gravel pads, full hookups on most sites, laundry, showers, and pools at the larger properties. Town and Country and Dakotah Meadows both accommodate big rigs, though interior roads at Town and Country are tight and site spacing is close.
Cell service and WiFi are generally reliable across the metro parks, though speeds at Dakotah Meadows have been reported as inconsistent on some sites. Mosquitoes and ticks are active from late May through September, so pack repellent. Firewood should be purchased locally or on-site, as Minnesota restricts moving untreated firewood to slow the spread of emerald ash borer and other pests.
Quiet hours are enforced at most properties, and pets are welcome on leash at all listed campgrounds.

Eagan's wide suburban streets and easy access to I-35E and Highway 77 mean you can practice in low-stress conditions before heading north. Most first-time renters pick a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer for easier handling. RVezy's support team and your host are both a quick message away if a question pops up mid-trip. Pro tip: do a slow lap of a large parking lot on a weekday morning to get comfortable with turning and braking before you hit the highway.

Cross-border travel into Canada (think Thunder Bay or Winnipeg) is sometimes allowed, but you'll need to confirm directly with your host and check that the protection package extends to Canada before you book. Travel into Mexico isn't permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: message your host early about your planned route so they can confirm border crossing details and any documentation you'll need, like the vehicle registration and a host authorization letter.

Minnesota gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, with diesel and regular widely available at Kwik Trip and Holiday stations across the Twin Cities. A round trip from Eagan to Duluth (about 310 miles) in a Class C will run roughly $90 to $120 in fuel. Watch for occasional summer thunderstorms and be aware of low clearances around downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul; the Lowry Hill Tunnel on I-94 has a 13'6" limit, which is fine for almost all RVs. Pro tip: route around the city using I-694 or I-494 instead of cutting through, and check MnDOT's 511 app for real-time construction updates before you head out.

No cash changes hands with your host, which keeps everything transparent. Pro tip: do a quick walk-around video with your host at pickup and dropoff, photographing the exterior, interior, generator hours, and fuel level; it is the single best way to avoid disputes and get your full deposit back fast.

You sure can. Winter RV rental in Eagan, MN is available year-round on RVezy, and some hosts specifically winterize their rigs for cold-weather adventures with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and reliable furnaces. January temperatures in Eagan average 12°F to 25°F, so you'll want a four-season RV, shore power at your site, and a heated water hose. Several Minnesota state parks like Afton and Wild River stay open for winter camping with electric hookups, and ice fishing on Lake Mille Lacs is just 90 minutes north. Pro tip: filter for hosts who explicitly list "winter-ready" or "four-season" in their description, and plan to stay at sites with 30/50-amp electric so your furnace can run continuously without draining the house batteries.
