Campgrounds near Edina, Minnesota
Edina sits in the southwest Twin Cities metro, minutes from Bloomington, the Mall of America, and downtown Minneapolis. There are no campgrounds inside Edina itself, so RV travelers base out of parks in nearby suburbs and use the highway network (I-494, Highway 169, I-35W) to reach the city in roughly 15 to 30 minutes.
The closest full-hookup options sit south and southwest of the city. Town and Country Campground and RV Park in Savage offers full hookup sites with 30 and 50-amp service, laundry, showers, and a heated pool, and Dakotah Meadows RV Park in Prior Lake provides paved pull-through and back-in RV sites with electric, water, and sewer connections. Fish Lake Acres Campground provides a lake-oriented alternative on the west side of the metro.
For travelers willing to drive a bit farther, Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday sits in Jordan along the Minnesota River Valley and serves as a base camp for Twin Cities attractions. Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey covers the north side of the metro for travelers arriving from that direction.
Things to do near Edina
Edina anchors easy day trips across the Twin Cities. The Mall of America, Minnesota Zoo, Valleyfair amusement park, and Minnehaha Falls are all short drives from the surrounding campgrounds, and Target Field and U.S. Bank Stadium put pro sports within reach.
Dakotah Meadows RV Park sits next to Mystic Lake Casino, which has slot machines, table games, bingo, dining, and entertainment. Canterbury Park in Shakopee runs live horse racing on weekends from mid-May through mid-August and operates a card club year-round, roughly 15 minutes from the Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday.
Outdoor options include the regional trail network, Lake Nokomis, Lake Harriet, and the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge for hiking and paddling. Cleary Lake Regional Park and Hyland Lake Park Reserve add bike trails, swim beaches, and playgrounds within a short drive of Edina.

The private campgrounds around Edina run a seasonal schedule tied to Minnesota's short warm window. Town and Country Campground and RV Park is typically open from April 1 through November 30, and other private parks in the metro follow similar spring-to-late-fall calendars. Winter RV camping in the immediate metro is limited; most travelers pause plans from December through March.
Summer is peak season. July and August bring the warmest weather, festival weekends, Twins home games, and event traffic tied to the State Fair, which runs the twelve days ending on Labor Day. At Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday, more sites are available during April, May, September, and October than in peak July and August, a useful signal for the wider metro.
Shoulder seasons pay off for RV renters. Late May and September deliver comfortable days, cooler nights, thinner crowds, and easier reservations. Fall color in the river valleys typically peaks late September into mid-October.

How to book
Private RV parks near Edina take reservations directly on their websites or by phone. Summer weekends, holiday weekends, State Fair dates in late August, and event weekends at Mystic Lake or Canterbury Park book up first. Reserve as early as possible for July and August, and expect minimum-stay requirements over holidays.
For public land, the Minnesota DNR takes reservations by phone at 866-857-2757 or online at mndnr.gov/reservations, up to 120 days before the arrival date. All campsites in Minnesota state parks and recreation areas require a reservation year-round, and cell coverage can be unpredictable at some parks, so booking before leaving home is recommended. Overnight guests need a state park vehicle permit in addition to the campsite reservation.
What to expect
Campgrounds around Edina are suburban rather than remote. Expect paved or gravel pads, full or partial hookups, laundry, showers, and easy highway access, with less tree cover and more road noise than a state-park setting. Cell service and Wi-Fi are generally reliable.
Site layouts vary. Dakotah Meadows RV Park has paved, level sites with individual power, water, and fire pits, and offers a shuttle to Mystic Lake and the Mall of America. Town and Country Campground and RV Park has closer-spaced sites, a heated pool, and a game room, which suits families more than travelers seeking privacy.
Bring bug spray for June and July, layers for cool nights even in summer, and a plan for afternoon thunderstorms. Book big-rig or 50-amp sites early, and confirm length and slide-out clearance when reserving.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Edina,MinnesotaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Edina, MN?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Edina. Minnesota's standard Class D license covers any vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,000 pounds or less, which includes virtually every motorhome, campervan, and travel trailer on RVezy. No Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and no special RV endorsement required. To be an approved driver on RVezy you generally need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? A valid foreign license, paired with an International Driving Permit when required, works for most rentals. Most first-time renters in the Twin Cities are surprised how simple the paperwork is, you're really just a few clicks away from the open road.

Every RVezy booking in Edina comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit I-494 with real peace of mind. During checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip, from a basic plan up to more comprehensive coverage, and it helps protect you against most damage to the RV. While this isn't traditional auto insurance, it gives renters meaningful financial protection if something unexpected happens. Hosts don't get to pick your coverage, you do. Pro tip for your Minnesota RV trip: review each protection tier during booking, then save the RVezy 24/7 support number to your phone before pickup. That way you're covered from the moment you leave Edina until you drop the keys back off.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Edina RV rental?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy across the platform. That means a consistent, transparent process for every RV rental in Edina, including a grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Refund eligibility after the grace period depends on how far out you are from your trip start date. You can review the full cancellation policy in the RVezy Help Center before you confirm. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or offers a travel credit so your trip is protected. Pro tip: book early to secure the best Twin Cities rigs, knowing the grace period has your back if plans shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an Edina RV rental?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental in Edina is easy to find. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see Twin Cities hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Hosts set their own pet rules and cleaning fees, so message them through the listing before booking if you have a larger breed or multiple pets. Edina is a great launch pad for dog-loving campers: Bredesen Park has dog-friendly trails, and Minnehaha Off-Leash Dog Park is a short drive east. For overnight stays, Baker Park Reserve in Maple Plain and Dakotah Meadows RV Park in Prior Lake both welcome leashed dogs and have plenty of trails to sniff. Pro tip: pack a tie-out, a collapsible water bowl, and your dog's vaccination records, some Minnesota campgrounds ask to see them at check-in.
edinamn.gov/485/Parks-FacilitiesCan the RV be delivered to my campsite or home in Edina?
Yes, RV delivery in Edina is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you're a first-time renter. Many Twin Cities hosts offer to drive the RV right to your driveway, a local campground like Dakotah Meadows or Baker Park Reserve, or even a meeting spot near Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. They'll level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Just use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see which hosts deliver and how far they'll go. Pro tip: ask about a stationary delivery to a state park campsite if you're nervous about driving a big rig. You get the full motorhome rental Edina experience without ever sitting behind the wheel.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Edina,MinnesotaHow many miles can I drive on my Edina RV rental?
Mileage on RVezy is generous and flexible. Most Edina hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some list RV rentals with unlimited mileage, perfect for a long Minnesota RV trip. Each listing shows the daily allowance and the per-mile fee for anything extra. To put it in perspective, from Edina you're roughly 150 miles to Duluth, 200 miles to the Mississippi headwaters at Itasca State Park, around 280 miles to the Voyageurs National Park gateway towns, and about 30 miles to the St. Croix River bluffs near Stillwater. Pro tip: map your full route before booking, then filter listings by the host who best matches your mileage plans. It saves money and avoids any surprises at drop-off.

Pro tip: Minnesota State Parks fill up fast on summer weekends, so book the moment your dates are confirmed.
dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/camping/index.htmlWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Edina, MN?
The sweet spot for RV camping in Edina runs from mid-May through early October, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s and 80s Fahrenheit and Minnesota's lakes and state parks are in full swing. June and September are arguably the best months: fewer mosquitoes, lighter campground crowds, and shoulder-season pricing. July and August deliver peak warmth (often mid-80s) and the longest daylight, great for paddling and beach days. Fall color along the St. Croix and North Shore typically peaks late September through mid-October and is stunning from an RV. Winters get genuinely cold (often below 0°F in January), so most rentals run April through October. Pro tip: book a late-September trip for crisp nights, golden maples, and the best campground availability of the year.
weather.gov/mpx/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay picking one up in Edina?
Yes, first time renting an RV in Edina is absolutely doable, and your host is your secret weapon. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the awning, slide-outs, water tanks, propane, generator, and dashboard. Most first-timers in the Twin Cities choose a Class C motorhome or a travel trailer under 25 feet, since they drive much like a large van or pickup. Stick to suburban routes like Highway 169 and Highway 100 for your first hour, and skip rush-hour I-494 if possible. Pro tip: book a host that offers delivery so the RV arrives already set up at your campsite, you'll skip the driving anxiety entirely and focus on the fun.
dps.mn.gov/divisions/ots/educational-materials/Pages/default.aspxWhat if something goes wrong on the road during my trip?
You're never alone out there. Every RVezy rental in Edina includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering things like flat tires, lockouts, jump starts, fuel delivery, and towing when needed. Your host is also just a message away through the RVezy app and can usually troubleshoot quirks like a tripped breaker or a sticky slide-out in minutes. The RVezy customer support team backs you up before, during, and after the trip. Pro tip: as soon as you book, save both the roadside assistance line and your host's contact info to your phone, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate. If anything happens between Edina and the Boundary Waters, you'll have what you need in seconds.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take an Edina RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Edina is built for crossing borders. Driving into Wisconsin, Iowa, the Dakotas, or anywhere in the lower 48 is allowed on RVezy and your protection plan travels with you. Heading north into Ontario or Manitoba is often allowed too, but because it can affect coverage, message your host directly from the listing to confirm before you book. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Popular cross-border routes from Edina include the drive to Winnipeg, the run east to Door County, Wisconsin, and the scenic loop up Minnesota's North Shore into Thunder Bay, Ontario. Pro tip: bring your passport for any Canadian crossing, and share your full itinerary with your host.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Minnesota RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable in your RV budget, but it's easy to plan for. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 mpg, Class B campervans 16 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 mpg combined). Minnesota gas prices typically run a few cents below the national average, with stations along I-494 and Highway 62 in Edina among the most competitive in the metro. A typical 4-day trip covering 500 miles in a Class C costs roughly $175 to $225 in gas. Pro tip: fill up in suburbs like Edina or Eden Prairie before heading north, prices climb noticeably once you pass Hinckley toward Duluth and the North Shore.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Edina?
For the best sites, book early. Minnesota State Parks like William O'Brien, Afton, and Interstate open reservations 120 days ahead through the Minnesota DNR reservation system, and prime summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day) often sell out within hours. Regional parks like Lake Elmo and Baker Park Reserve are reserved through Washington County and Three Rivers Park District and typically open several months in advance. Private parks such as Dakotah Meadows and Town & Country in Savage usually have more last-minute openings. Pro tip: if your dates are flexible, target Sunday-through-Thursday stays. You'll often walk into a campground with no reservation needed, and many Edina hosts offer discounted weekday rates too.
dnr.state.mn.us/reservations/index.htmlWhat are driving conditions like around Edina and the Twin Cities?
Driving an RV around Edina is very manageable thanks to wide suburban roads and a well-marked highway grid. The main things to plan around: I-494 and I-35W can get congested between 7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6 PM, and some older bridges and parkways in Minneapolis post low height clearances, so stick to the Interstates and avoid narrow downtown side streets in a tall rig. Winter brings snow and ice from November to March, which is why most Edina RV rentals operate April through October. Pro tip: once you clear the metro on Highway 169 north or I-94 east, the roads open into easy, scenic two-lane driving, you're under 90 minutes from the St. Croix River bluffs and total countryside.
dot.state.mn.us/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Edina?
Twin Cities campgrounds are well equipped. At full-hookup parks like Dakotah Meadows and Town & Country RV Park you'll get 30/50-amp electric, fresh water, sewer at each site, plus laundry, Wi-Fi, and hot showers. State parks like William O'Brien offer electric hookups and a centralized dump station, while Lake Elmo Park Reserve provides 20/30/50-amp electric and modern restrooms at the Nordic Center. Most parks have potable water fill stations near the entrance and a dump station you can use on the way out, often free for registered guests. Pro tip: before leaving Edina, top off your fresh water tank at home or at the host's place. Filling at the campground after a long drive is one less thing to worry about when you arrive.

Edina RV rentals come fully equipped for a comfortable trip. Expect a queen or king bed, plus convertible dinette and bunk options that sleep 4 to 8 in most Class C motorhomes and travel trailers. Kitchens include a fridge/freezer, two or three-burner propane stove, microwave, and sink, while bathrooms have a toilet, shower, and vanity. Air conditioning, a furnace, and a TV are standard, and many hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, Bluetooth stereos, and a built-in generator for off-grid camping. Every seat used while driving has a seatbelt. Pro tip: check each listing's amenity list and photos carefully, then message the host with any must-haves like a camping coffee maker or kid-friendly bedding. Most Twin Cities hosts are happy to set things up exactly how you want.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options are available with my Edina RV rental?

Common options include camping chairs and tables ($15 to $25), bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits with pots, pans and utensils, propane refills, generators ($25 to $50 per day), bike racks, kayaks, and even pet kits. Pickup typically happens at the host's home in Edina, Eden Prairie, Bloomington, or Minnetonka, with delivery available for an extra fee based on distance. Mileage policies are listed clearly on each listing, anywhere from 100 miles per night to unlimited. Pro tip: bundle add-ons through the host instead of renting gear separately, you'll save time and usually money, and everything will already be in the rig at pickup.
exploreminnesota.com/things-to-do/outdoor-activitiesHow does payment and the security deposit work for an Edina RV rental?
Payment is simple, secure, and handled entirely through RVezy, no cash, no checks, no awkward payment app requests with the host. You pay your trip total by credit or debit card when you book, and your host receives funds after you pick up the RV. Each listing specifies a security deposit (commonly $500 to $1,500 for Edina rentals) which is handled separately from the booking payment and pre-authorized on your card before the trip. It is released after drop-off, assuming no damage or extra cleaning. Pro tip: do a detailed walk-around video with your host at both pickup and drop-off in Edina through the RVezy app. It's the easiest way to ensure your full deposit comes back fast and avoids any disputes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the best road trip destinations from Edina, MN?
An RV road trip from Edina puts some of the Midwest's best scenery within easy reach. Drive about 2.5 hours north to Duluth and Lake Superior's North Shore for waterfalls, lighthouses, and Gooseberry Falls State Park (about 155 miles). Head about 3.5 hours northwest to Itasca State Park (around 210 miles) to walk across the Mississippi headwaters. Cruise about 45 minutes east to the St. Croix River via Stillwater, with Wisconsin's Door County a longer haul beyond. Roll about 4 hours south to Iowa's Effigy Mounds and Driftless Area, or about 5 hours north to Voyageurs National Park for true wilderness paddling. Pro tip: for a family RV trip from Edina, the North Shore loop up Highway 61 to Grand Marais and back is the gold standard, plan 4 to 5 nights to soak it in.
